2012 chevrolet cruze review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Improved fuel economy. introductionthe chevrolet cruze is an excellent choice among compact sedans. It's the best small car gm has offered in north america in decades. More important, it's among the best cars in its class.  fuel economy is improved for 2012, and the list of standard equipment has grown longer, especially in the mid-range lt level. Otherwise, the 2012 chevrolet cruze is unchanged from 2011.  launched as a 2011 model, the cruze replaced the sturdy but boring cobalt, and represented a great leap forward in technology, features and appeal. The cruze was developed jointly by gm tech centers in asia, europe and the united states to battle compact competitors such as the hyundai elantra and kia forte, the best volkswagen jetta in years, and perennial leaders like the honda civic, mazda 3, and toyota corolla. By the quality of materials, fit or function, it surpasses nearly all its competitors. As with most cars in this class, the cruze is front-wheel drive. Both the manual and automatic are 6-speed-transmissions, which is rare in this class. With the 1. 8-liter engine the government rates it 25/36 mpg with the manual, 22/35 mpg with the automatic. The 2012 chevrolet cruze eco rates 28/42 mpg with the manual, 26/39 mpg with the automatic.  the chevrolet cruze might be the smoothest, quietest compact offered in the united states. Ride quality is outstanding, yet the car is nimble, balanced and handles exceptionally well. Its steering is powered by electricity to save fuel. Underway, the steering feels sharp, with decent feel. The cruze comes standard with a long list of safety features, including advanced electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes, and a full complement of 10 airbags. There are knee-protection airbags for front passengers, side-impact airbags for rear passengers, and head-protection curtains with rollover deployment. Every cruze comes with gm's onstar telematics system, including a six-month subscription for automatic accident response and other services, a great safety feature.  among the 2012 cruze models, the cruze eco delivers the best fuel economy. Its aerodynamic features, including grille vanes that close at highway speeds, help it slip through the air more easily, and it weighs more than 200 pounds less than other models. To achieve its superb fuel economy, however, the cruze eco sacrifices performance, resulting in slower acceleration, longer stopping distances, and poorer handling than the other cruze models.  the cruze ltz comes swathed in leather and loaded with technology. The cruze ltz is available with a full-feature navigation system, rear park assist, concierge services, premium pioneer audio and remote starting. For that kind of money, the alternatives include larger, very nicely equipped midsize sedans such as the ford fusion, honda accord, hyundai sonata or nissan altima. Cruze ls comes with air conditioning, power windows, power door locks with remote keyless entry, floor mats, and six-speaker audio with single cd, an auxiliary jack and xm satellite radio. The standard wheels are 16-inch steel.  cruze eco 19,245) is optimized for fuel economy. It's powered by a smaller, 1. 4-liter turbocharged engine that delivers the same 138 hp as the base engine, with an increase in torque to 148 lb-ft. It's lighter than other cruze models, with aerodynamic aids that make in slipperier through the air, and low-rolling-resistance tires on 17-inch alloy wheels. The 2012 cruze eco comes with bluetooth phone connectivity, usb port, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, cruise control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.  cruise lt 18,475) is powered by the same frugal turbocharged engine plus body-color power side mirrors and all the new goodies that have been added to the cruze eco. Sixteen-inch machined-face alloy wheels are standard on 2012 cruze lt models. The 2012 cruze ltz also comes standard with fog lights, keyless entry and keyless start.  cruze rs is an ltz with an rs appearance package 595), which includes unique bumpers, rocker moldings, and a rear spoiler. A similar package for the lt2 695) adds all that plus fog lights and racier instruments. Navigation 995) is available for lt2, ltz, and eco. Other options include a 250-watt pioneer audio system with nine speakers 445), a power sunroof 900). The eco and lt1 can be spruced up with a driver convenience package 495) that includes a six-way power driver's seat, rear park assist, and remote start. (all prices are manufacturer's suggested retail prices, which do not include destination charge and may change at any time without notice.)  safety features include front, side-impact and knee-protection airbags for front passengers, rear side-impact airbags and full cabin head-protection curtains with rollover deployment. Gm's onstar telematics are standard, with automatic crash response and other services free for six months. Other standard safety features include stabiltrack electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes (abs), front seatbelt pretensioners, daytime running lights (drls) and the federally mandated tire-pressure monitor. walkaroundthe styling of the chevrolet cruze is handsome and nicely proportioned.  the cruze is large, as compact cars go. Measuring 181. 0 inches bumper-to-bumper, on a wheelbase of 105. 7 inches, the cruze is slightly larger than most of its competitors, including the honda civic, toyota corolla, and the all-new 2012 ford focus.  cruze is more angular than other recent chevrolet sedans, including the popular malibu. Its front end mimics the volt plug-in sedan with a prominent chevrolet bowtie logo. The headlight housings are large, sweeping upward and around the front edges of the car.  the roofline arcs subtly from its steeply raked windshield through fast-sloping rear pillars, creating a generally sporty profile. Its wheels are pushed out to the corners of the car, with minimal overhang. No, this compact sedan doesn't break new ground or wow with its curves. But it's tidy and quite confidant looking, and the package generates a feeling of quality and solidity. Wheels range from 16-inch steel with plastic covers on the base ls to spoked 18-inch alloys with low-profile tires on the loaded ltz.  the cruze eco is a slightly different beast, because it's designed to be chevrolet's conventional-engine fuel economy leader. The differences start with 42 steps intended to trim weight, right down the size and location of welds in the body. As a result, the eco tips the scales at 3,009 pounds, or 214 pounds less than the mid-level cruze lt. Cruze eco adds a host of aerodynamic tweaks, including some adapted from the chevrolet volt. These start with active grille shutters that close at higher speeds, blocking much of the grille surface when the cooling demands of the engine allow it, and smoothing air flow over the front of the car. The eco also sports a lower front air-dam extension, plastic panels that cover large portions of the underbody and a carefully crafted rear spoiler. It's finished with low-rolling-resistance tires on specially designed rims. That means a bit less braking performance or grip through the corners, but it also means less friction when the eco is cruising along for better fuel economy. interiorthe chevrolet cruze is roomy inside, with ample dimensions in most directions. The cabin is finished nicely with quality materials. Sound deadening measures result in quiet operation. Overall, the cruze cabin delivers an excellent balance of quality, coziness and space to breathe.  cruze is near the top of the class for the look, fit and feel of the materials inside. The seams join with tighter tolerances than those in many other cars, including some of those a class or two above. The textiles and plastics are rich, appealing and nicely grained, and the metallic trim looks good. The fabric used for the door inserts matches that used on the seat.

2006 ford mustang review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The all-american pony car. introductionthe ford mustang is an american success story. Forty years after it created an automotive niche all its own, mustang is both true to its roots and better than ever.  the 2006 mustang is available as both a coupe and a convertible, powered by either a v6 or a v8 engine. The v6 deluxe comes well equipped for less than $20,000. The mustang gt boasts a multi-valve, overhead-cam v8 that produces 300 horsepower. Both are available with a manual or automatic transmission. More importantly, both deliver the bold styling, rear-drive performance and affordability that have been mustang hallmarks for decades.    retro inspired, to be sure, the mustang is nonetheless a thoroughly modern car. Launched for 2005 with a clean-sheet design, the mustang is faster and more agile than ever. It's also quieter and better built (even the convertible), and it rides more smoothly. Its interior is a throwback to the original mustang, but it's also functional and well finished. For 2006, a new pony package gives v6 mustangs all the show, if not the go, of the v8. The v8s are available with trendy new 18-inch wheels for 2006.  a family car, the mustang isn't. Interior space is limited for a car of its exterior dimensions, and the back seat might better be described as a package shelf. Yet the 2006 mustang holds true to an idea that still appeals to people of all ages decades after it was launched.  the ford mustang has been an icon of american performance since its introduction in 1964. It created the pony car genre, and after 40-plus years of competition with the barracuda, camaro, firebird and others, it's the only one left. We, and a few hundred thousands others, are glad it's still here. lineupthe 2006 ford mustang lineup probably seems more complicated than it really is. Mustang is available as either a fastback coupe or convertible, each with either a v6 or v8 engine. The v6 models focus on value, while the v8 gts focus on performance. All come standard with a five-speed manual transmission, but all are available with a five-speed automatic.  the rest of the difference comes down to trim. The v6 standard coupe 19,115) comes well equipped, with one-touch power windows, power mirrors and door locks, keyless entry, air conditioning, am/fm/cd, tilt steering, speed control, rear window defroster, 16-inch wheels, and a split-folding rear seat. Its 4. 0-liter overhead-cam v6 generates 210 horsepower.    the v6 deluxe coupe 19,215) adds 16-inch machined-face aluminum wheels. The package includes a firmer suspension, a custom grille with fog lamps, pony emblems and 17-inch wheels.  in addition to its 4. 6-liter, 300-horsepower v8, the mustang gt deluxe coupe 25,140) adds in-grille fog lamps, complex reflector halogen headlamps with integral turn signals, a rear spoiler, and performance tires on 17-inch wheels. The gt premium coupe 26,320) comes with the 500-watt cd changer and aberdeen leather-trimmed sport bucket seats.  the gt deluxe convertible 29,965) and gt premium convertible 31,145) have the power-operated soft top.  mustang options include the five-speed automatic transmission 995), an active anti-theft system 255), a 1000-watt audio system 1,295), an interior upgrade package with satin aluminum trim 450). The gts are available with 18-inch wheels 195).  safety features on all mustangs include dual-stage front impact airbags and three-point belts for all seats. Antilock brakes and traction control are standard on the gts and optional on the v6 models 775). Front passenger side-impact airbags 370) are optional on all models, so be sure to order them as they are designed to offer torso protection in a side impact. walkaroundthe 2006 ford mustang follows the trend by offering ever larger wheels. The gt is now available with two distinct 18-inch wheel designs, as well as two new exterior colors: vista blue clearcoat metallic and tungsten grey clearcoat metallic. So trimmed, the mustang looks more aggressively handsome than ever, and nearly identical to the concept cars that grabbed everyone's attention at the 2004 north american international auto show.  nothing says modern american sporty car better than this mustang. Its long hood and short rear deck capitalize on 40 years of mustang history. The current mustang features classic design cues that have defined mustangs since the 1960s: c-scoops in the sides, three-element tail lamps and a galloping horse badge in the center of the grille. Its menacing shark-like nose is reminiscent of the 1967 model. Everything under the car has been upgraded substantially from previous mustang levels: bigger brakes by nearly 20 percent, completely new front and rear suspension designs that yield much quieter, smoother ride as well as much more precise steering during hard cornering, improved engines and new transmissions. Optional antilock brakes bundled with traction control give any driver much more of a fighting chance in bad situations by allowing the driver to brake and steer at the same time.  the engines are mounted to the body with hydraulic engine mounts, which absorb and counteract vibration and pulsing. By adapting ideas and components from luxury cars, ford has given the current mustang a level of sophistication its predecessors never had. Yet the mustang heritage of low-cost performance and flashy styling has not been compromised one iota. We know, because we've driven every generation since the original debuted in the spring of 1964.  perhaps most retro of all mustang features is a new-for-2006 pony package for v6 models. This includes a grille with gt-style round fog lamps and a chrome bezel, or corral, around the traditional mustang prancing horse. The package includes 17-inch wheels, front-fender pony badges, a lower door stripe, and a rear spoiler. interiorthe styling themes that so readily identify the 2006 mustang are apparent inside, too. The interior is as blatantly throwback as the exterior, and nearly as well done. It's sporty and crisp in appearance and straightforward in function.  there's a very heavy dose of 1967 mustang inside, with two distinct right and left pods, blended with modern touches. Chrome-ringed air vents align across the dash, precisely in line with the gauges, and the steering wheel has three spokes with a center hub marked by the horse and tricolor bars logo. While some of the materials have a cost-saving look and feel, the package is not bad given the high style and price of entry. An interior upgrade package, with satin or dark-finish aluminum inserts, goes a long way toward eliminating traces of cheapness. Speaking of brightening, however, there's enough shiny metal on this car's dash and steering wheel to create some glare problems for drivers on sunny days. Just like the old days.  these are the good old days in terms of roominess in the mustang. Thanks to a longer wheelbase and larger overall size, there is a lot more hip, leg, elbow and shoulder room inside this mustang that in any previous generation. We found the front bucket seats to be comfortable, supportive and retentive in hard corners. The 2+2 back seat, however, isn't much more accommodating than before, and it's not a place adults will want to spend any time.  the trunk, however, is as large as those in some more overtly practical sedans, and the folding rear seat expands cargo space even further.  the basic sound system that comes with the car is pretty darn good. The 500-watt upgrade is reasonably priced in the premium package, and adds a six-cd changer. The 1000-watt upgrade will impress most audiophiles, but the extra subwoofers in the trunk steal a good chunk of cargo space. We'd be inclined to pass on those. driving impressionthe 2006 mustang improves those things that have appealed to so many different kinds of drivers for more than 40 years, and it nearly eliminates some traditionally bad pony car traits. In general, the good has gotten better and the bad, less so.  the previous-generation mustang, a modified, welded version of a chassis that dated to 1979, was about as stiff as wet rope. Ford claims the current mustang's body/frame is 31 percent stiffer, and we won't argue. This mustang is simply much more rigid and rattle-free than its predecessor. A rigid foundation provides the basis for a host of good things, including improved ride quality, sharper handling and less interior vibration.  the new-found solidity even applies to the convertible. It's a fact: cars that cost five times as much as the mustang tend t. Power Windows✔ Anti-lock Brakes✔ Power Mirrors✔ Bucket Seats✔ AM/FM✔ Leather Seats✔ Air Conditioning✔ CD Changer✔ Aluminum Wheels

2013 hyundai veloster review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Three-door coupe adds sporty turbo option. introductionthe hyundai veloster is a sporty, three-door compact car with unique looks, fun driving dynamics and good fuel economy. It launched as a 2012 model with a naturally aspirated 1. 6-liter engine that makes 138 horsepower and an admirable epa rating of 40 mpg highway with the standard 6-speed manual transmission. The engine uses all the right high-tech stuff to get these numbers, such as gasoline direct injection (gdi), and dual continuously variable valve timing (d-cvvt).  for 2013, the veloster turbo joins the lineup. A traditional 6-speed automatic with shiftronic is optional. The naturally aspirated veloster, meanwhile, uses a dual-clutch automatic.  the turbo's increased performance predictably takes a toll on gas mileage, but still achieves a respectable 26 mpg city and 38 mpg highway epa rating with the manual and 25/34 mpg with the automatic.  the veloster turbo distinguishes itself from the naturally aspirated model with a huge front grille, a body kit, different front and rear bumpers, a rear spoiler and upgraded standard features such as leather upholstery, heated front seats and pushbutton start. All turbos ride on larger, 18-inch wheels.  perhaps most interestingly, the veloster turbo is available in a matte gray paint color, which costs an extra $1,000 and, like other cars with flat paint colors, must be taken care of meticulously by hand. The paint is so fussy that customers must sign a release form that states they won't take it through an automated carwash. Those who pop for the high-maintenance paint will receive a car-care kit with cleaning products they can use at home.  the veloster's styling gets a lot of looks on the highway, although we think it looks a tad overdone. As a three-door coupe, it totally pulls off the two-door roofline. The third door is on the passenger side, hinged at the front like a real door. With other three-door compacts, the third door can be awkwardly hinged; not so with the veloster. It's easy to climb in and out of the back seat, and total interior volume is best in the sporty compact class, blowing the mini cooper clubman out of the water.  much of the hyundai veloster was designed and developed in the u. S., most notably the rear suspension that gives veloster an excellent all-around ride that's dialed-in but still comfortable. Steering is solid, secure, and gives great feedback; cornering is stable.  interior details include nice console support at the right thigh, good feel with the three-spoke leather steering wheel, pleasing uncluttered gauges, and digital information that's easily accessed. Standard equipment includes cloth upholstery, six-way adjustable driver's seat, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, power accessories, manually operated air conditioning, a six-speaker audio system with 7-inch touch screen, cd player, satellite radio capability, ipod/bsb port and auxiliary audio/video jacks; bluetooth handsfree phone system with voice recognition, 60/40 split folding rear seats and 17-inch alloy wheels.  the style package 2,000) upgrades to leatherette upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, eight-speaker audio, alloy pedals, power sunroof, chrome grille trim, foglights and bumps wheel size up to 18 inches. The tech package 2,000) adds pushbutton start, 115-volt outlet, navigation with rearview camera, rear backup sensors, automatic headlights, unique 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlamps, push-button start, and 115v outlet.  veloster turbo is available with either the 6-speed manual 21,950) or 6-speed manual transmission with shiftronic 22,950). Standard features include the comfort and convenience features found in the standard veloster plus leather upholstery, driver's power lumbar support, heated front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, alloy pedals, 8-speaker audio system with external amp and subwoofer, pushbutton start, unique interior trim, a unique front grille, front fog lights, led accents on headlights, led rear taillights, side mirrors with integrated turn signals, a sport tuned suspension ground effects bodykit and 18-inch alloy wheels. The veloster turbo ultimate package 2,500) adds navigation, 115-volt power outlet, rearview camera, power sunroof, backup sensors and automatic headlights. Special color body color options include elite white 200) and a special matte gray 1,000), which includes an in-home car-care kit.  safety equipment on all models includes six airbags (frontal, front side impact, curtains), stability control with traction control, abs, tire pressure monitor. walkaroundvisually, the veloster sets itself apart from other hyundai models with a bolder, busier design. Unlike the cleaner lines of hyundai's sedans, the veloster's muscular shape is riddled with lumps, scoops and scallops.  but take a couple of steps back, and the veloster doesn't look so bad. The nose is low, and from a three-quarter rear view, it looks tough on its haunches. The standard veloster's mouth is as wide as an audi's, but it's filled in with body-colored plastic, shaped to resemble wings, but maybe looks more like superman's shoulders while flying, with a chrome cape and silver h for a face.  the veloster turbo gets an even bigger, all-black mouth that looks to be all air intake, different fog lights, led accents around the headlights and side mirrors with integrated turn signals. In back, the turbo sports a rear spoiler, led tail lights and large dual exhaust tips. All turbos ride on 18-inch wheels. Inside, pushbutton start, leather upholstery and heated seats come standard, as well as an upgraded audio system.  a new matte gray color for the veloster turbo is a gamble for hyundai. The special clear coat that gives the matte appearance must be taken care of meticulously. Customers must also sign a release form that acknowledges that the paint must be taken care of in a particular way. Hyundai execs admit they can't vouch for long-term longevity and say second owners could prove to be a challenge. This isn't unique to hyundai, however, as other cars, including expensive luxury cars, with flat paint colors face the same challenges. They look really neat when in good condition, though.  as a three-door coupe, the veloster totally pulls off the two-door roofline. On the passenger side, the third door is hidden save the seam. Rakish upsweep meets a racy roofline, invisible door handle in the window corner. Thankfully, the window trim is black.  the single center exhaust on the standard veloster is like siamese twin trapezoids, outlined by chrome, while the veloster turbo gets dual, side-by-side exhaust tips in the same spot. Both versions are boxed in by a big black plastic fascia that makes the rear end look almost frog-like. They say the a-pillars are like a helmet visor, the center stack resembles a fuel tank, the console mirrors a motorcycle seat, and air vents are inspired by tailpipes. Mostly we noticed overkill on the trapezoidal trim pieces.  on the standard veloster, we noticed terrific fit and materials of the style package seats, nice console support at the right thigh, good feel of the three-spoke leather steering wheel, pleasing uncluttered gauges, and digital information accessed easily. Features include bluetooth, pandora internet radio via iphone, and gracenote music connectivity. A 196-watt six-speaker audio system is standard, while the 450-watt eight-speaker system comes with the style package.  the veloster turbo adds extra touches including aluminum pedals, pushbutton start and heated front seats. Leather upholstery is standard, but it felt more plastic than plush, and we noticed that stitching around the driver's seat had already begun to buckle in some places.  rear visibility has a couple of problems. There's a big blind spot at the c-pillar over the driver's shoulder, which is typical for cars with this type of roofline. And the structural support in the fastback glass liftgate blocks rearview visibility, but overall it's still better than some hatches on the market such as the toyota prius and honda cr-z.  the backseat is easy to get into, thanks to the veloster's front-hinged third door. 2010 buick lucerne review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Big, comfortable, luxurious and a good value. introductionthe buick lucerne is a highly competent sedan with smooth, clean lines and driving manners to match. Underway, it's smooth and quiet, with precise steering and a chassis that handles winding roads with grace and security. Inside, it's elegant, comfortable and easy to operate. It's a very luxurious car, and at a price that represents a commendable value.  the buick lucerne is a full-size, premium sedan with front-wheel drive and a standard v6 engine. The lucerne cx is a traditional buick, with the premium ride suspension maximized for cushioned comfort. The lucerne cxl comes with a firmer (but certainly not at all harsh) ride and handling suspension, and is positioned to compete with the toyota avalon and lexus es 350. We found it a very enjoyable car to drive, with agile handling and plenty of performance. The cxl special edition adds numerous trim and convenience features. The super is the top of the lucerne line and includes a v8 engine and magnetic ride control, a sophisticated adaptive suspension with responsive handling.  advanced safety systems are available on all models. Lane departure warning uses a camera to warn drivers of inadvertent lane changes. Stabilitrak, which includes the function of traction control, and brake assist are offered as well.  for 2010, the changes are relatively minor. The super receives a new optional 18-inch chrome wheel, the entire line-up gets the rocker panels and fog lamps from the super model, bluetooth is available on the base model, the instrument panel gauges are backlit, and there are some revised interior treatments and new exterior colors.  buick has a long history of innovative engineering, handsomely conservative styling, and premium luxury at below-premium prices. Standard equipment includes cloth upholstery, air conditioning, seats for five people with a power driver's seat, power windows, power door locks, leather-wrapped tilt steering wheel, am/fm/cd/mp3 audio with six speakers and steering wheel audio controls, xm satellite radio, cruise control, electrochromic rearview mirror, remote keyless entry, cornering lamps, heated outside rearview mirrors, an extended-range key fob, and 17-inch bright-silver-painted aluminum wheels. Package 2cx 1,700) adds stabilitrak, brake assist, rear parking assist, remote starter, a theft-deterrent system, dual-zone automatic climate control, a universal home remote, a cargo net and bluetooth to the cx.  lucerne cxl 32,730) upgrades with leather seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, universal home remote, a cargo net, eight-way power heated front seats with power lumbar support, memory settings, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, and turn signals integrated in the outside mirrors. The cxl suspension is tuned a little tighter, too, and includes airlift control in the rear for automatic level control. The driver's confidence package adds stabilitrak, brake assist, rear parking assist, remote starter, and a theft-deterrent system to the cxl 945).  option packages for cxl: the 3xl 2,100) includes side blind-zone alert, driver's confidence package, dual heated mirrors with turn signals and left-hand day/night feature, lane departure warning and chrome alloy wheels. The 4xl 3,000) includes driver's confidence package, harman/kardon speakers, heated and cooled front seats, leather, heated steering wheel and chrome alloy wheels. The 5xl 3,500) includes the features of the 3xl and 4xl packages combined.  lucerne super 39,230) is powered by a 292-hp 4. 6-liter v8 and equipped with magnasteer power steering, magnetic ride control adaptive suspension, stabilitrak stability control, brake assist, and p245/50r18 all-season radials on 18-inch aluminum wheels. Inside, the super features a leather-wrapped upper instrument panel with french-seam stitching, heated leather seats with suede fabric inserts, harman/kardon audio, heated and wood-accented steering wheel on a power tilt-and-telescope steering column, wood shift knob, and other upgraded finishes and trims. Stabilitrak, brake assist, rear parking assist, remote starter, a theft-deterrent system, dual-zone automatic climate control, a universal home remote, a cargo net, and bluetooth are standard. Outside, the super sports its own unique grille, front and rear fascias, extended rocker panels, and integrated dual exhaust tips. Chrome wheels are optional 750).  options include side blind-zone alert 395), lane departure warning 295), a power tilt-and-slide sunroof 950), and an engine block heater 75). A sound system with dvd-based navigation 1,945) is optional on the super, cxl, and cxl special edition; the harman/kardon speakers 495) and a six-cd changer 300) are available on the cxl and cxl special edition. Six-passenger seating is available on the cx and cxl by ordering front bench seats 295).  safety features on all models include six airbags: a dual-stage driver's front airbag and a dual-depth front-passenger airbag, front-seat side-impact airbags, and full-coverage side-curtain airbags. The front seatbelts come with pretensioners to enhance the effectiveness of the airbags. Traction control, anti-lock brakes, and a tire pressure monitor are standard on all models. The lucerne has a handsome appearance with a good stance thanks to its long wheelbase and wide track. The classic, buick waterfall grille blends in well with the large integrated headlamps. The side profile, with its steeply raked windshield, is reminiscent of several recently introduced european sedans such as the vw passat and audi a6. The rear of the lucerne features a high trunk line with nicely integrated tail lamps.  chrome trim is kept to a minimum. In addition to the grille, the only stylistic link to buicks of old is the row of small portholes on each of the front fenders. Flashback to the fifties, when more-powerful buicks had more holes. The grille bars turn sharply inward at the top, giving more definition to the waterfall effect. Below the grille, the look is more familiar, with twin lower air intakes accentuated by chrome slashes that seem to point to the outboard foglights.  the smaller main grille of the cx and cxl is finer in texture and is chrome. The twin lower air intakes on these models hide behind horizontal grillwork cut into the lower bumper.  the buick lucerne is built on the same platform as the cadillac dts and benefits from modern build techniques for a quiet luxury car. These include hydroformed frame rails for a stiffer body and the use of laminated steel with plenty of sound-deadening material placed in strategic locations. The individual front seats provide a good level of comfort and come with an armrest in the center console.  rear-seat passengers are well taken care of with good headroom and excellent leg room. The lucerne's long wheelbase allows for a wide-opening rear door with almost no intrusion from the wheel well, making it easy to get in and out of the car. 2008 chrysler 300 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Bold, handsome, roomy and satisfying. introductionsmooth, quiet operation, tight handling, space, luxury: the chrysler 300 sedan has it all, at attractive prices. Yet what the 300 has more than anything is bold, appealing styling.  the chrysler 300 nameplate includes a wide range of engines and amenities, from a frugal v6 to the powerful srt8. The base model comes well-equipped for less than $25,000 msrp. Aimed primarily at the chauffeur-driven executive class, the long-wheelbase version offer a cavernous back seat, th more leg room than just about anything on the road. It's great for tall folks or anyone who likes space and convenience and can be equipped with custom features such as writing tables and foot rests.  the chrysler 300 is rear-wheel drive, and we consider that a benefit. Rear-wheel drive adds to the pleasure and excitement of driving this big sedan, and that's partly why luxury sedans and sports cars continue to use it. The 300's traction and stability electronics are well sorted and effective, delivering good all-season performance, and all-wheel drive is an option for those who live in the snow belt. They're also responsive for large cars. Inside and out, this car makes no apologies. It won't be mistaken for any other sedan the road. It can be trimmed with chrome, mono-chrome and various wheels to look stately and elegant or downright mean.  the chrysler 300 delivers impressive value, but emphasizing the cost/benefit ratio may minimize its other strengths. The 300s are good, appealing cars, and they've set the benchmark for detroit's car builders.  for 2008, chrysler added several features and tweaked the interior and exterior design. New features include adaptive cruise control, sirius backseat tv and chrysler's mygig, a 20-gigabyte hard drive that holds songs, pictures, and navigation system map information. Chrysler's uconnect hands-free cell-phone link has been upgraded with an integrated ipod interface. The interior has a new instrument panel and center console, and the arm rests, center console and door trim benefit from soft-touch surfaces. Outside, the front and rear fascia, grille, decklid, and side moldings are updated. It has a five-speed automatic transmission with chrysler's autostick manual-shift feature. The limited awd 33,815) is identically equipped.  the 300c 35,395) features a 5. 7-liter overhead-valve v8 (hemi), delivering 340 horsepower and a substantial 390 pound-feet of torque. It also has a power tilt/telescoping steering column, leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob, remote starting, and rain-sensing wipers. The 300c awd 37,495) is equipped the same. An srt design group option 1,495) for the 300c adds many of the srt design cues, 20-inch wheels, and more significantly, engine tweaks and special exhaust that raise the output to 350 horsepower.  the srt8 41,385) features a 425-hp, 6. 1-liter hemi v8 with loads of performance tweaks, 20-inch wheels, and unique design features.  options are plentiful with many available packages that require research. One of the most popular is protection group ii 890), which adds curtain-style head-protection airbags, torso-protecting front side airbags, rear park assist, self-sealing tires and cabin air filtration. Stand alone options include rear-seat dvd entertainment with a seven-inch lcd screen, a sunroof 950), uconnect hands-free communication with ipod interface 250), and a boston acoustics audio upgrade with six-cd changer, subwoofer and 368 watts of output. Also available for 2008 are sirius backseat tv, with three channels of children's programming, and chrysler's mygig. Mygig comes in two versions: the mygig entertainment system, which has a 6. 5-inch touchscreen and a 20-gigabyte hard drive to hold songs and pictures, and the mygig multimedia infotainment system, which adds a navigation system with voice control and real-time traffic information.  safety features include multi-stage front airbags. Curtain-style head protection airbags for outboard passengers and torso-protecting front side-impact airbags are optional. An electronic stability program (esp), traction control system (tcs) and anti-lock brakes (abs) with brake assist are standard on all but the lx model, where they are optional. Other safety-related options include rear obstacle detection, high-intensity discharge headlamps, a tire-pressure monitor, and all-wheel drive. The chrysler 300 has earned a five-star rating from the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa) for front-impact crash protection.  the w. A handful of detractors claim the 300's styling, particularly its bentley-esque front end, is derivative, but we think that's a superficial view. But it has also redefined what a detroit sedan can be, more clearly and thoroughly than any automobile in recent years.  with its rear-wheel-drive architecture, the chrysler 300 might be a case of back to the future. Yet there's little about it that's retro, except maybe the giant grille, which clearly draws on 300s from the past. The first chrysler 300 was introduced in 1955. It was called the c300 and its engine had hemispherical combustion chambers earning the hemi nickname. Its styling makes no apologies. The wheelwell cutouts, wrapping around rims up to 20 inches in diameter, are striking. The wheelbase is long but the overhangs are short, offering a visual sense of power. The roof rakes thickly down to a short deck, and the sides are like large slabs.  for 2008, the decklid was redesigned to include an integrated spoiler-like kickup, as well as the center, high-mounted stop light, which moves down from the rear package area. These cast a useful halo of light on the ground beneath the doors when the 300 is unlocked with the remote key fob. Its unique features include body-color front and rear bumper inserts, mirrors and door handles. The modifications are more than aesthetic: the front and rear ends direct air flow through unique ducts that cool the brakes, while a specially designed rear spoiler increases rear downforce by 39 percent, helping keep the rear tires firmly planted at high speed without increasing drag. Yet the coolest thing about the srt8 might be its 20-inch forged aluminum wheels and asymmetrical high-performance tires. These maximize that visual power, and they're staggered in the classic track-performance tradition, with the rear tires slightly wider than the fronts.  the executive series package, or long-wheelbase version, adds six inches to the standard wheelbase, all behind the front doors, and provides more than 46 inches of rear legroom inside. That's more rear-seat leg room than executive-class stalwarts such as the audi a8l, bmw 750li and jaguar xj-. 2011 chevrolet impala review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Value and fuel efficiency in a big family sedan. introductionthe chevrolet impala is a big family sedan close in size to the toyota avalon. The impala is a comfortable and convenient car, practical and enjoyable to drive, with decent performance and fuel economy and competitive pricing.  the impala competes with full-size cars, such as the ford taurus, chrysler 300 and dodge charger, and mid-size cars, such as the honda accord, toyota camry and nissan altima.  impala carries over to 2011 largely unchanged, though there are some minor packaging changes. 2011 chevrolet impala models are available with bluetooth and the latest version of onstar gen 9. 0. All 2011 impalas come with body-color body side moldings.  the chevrolet impala is front-wheel drive with a choice of two v6 engines. The 3. 5-liter v6 that comes standard on the impala lt and ls models generates 211 horsepower and 216 pound-feet of torque and gets an epa-estimated 18/29 miles per gallon city/highway. The impala ltz comes with a larger 3. 9-liter v6 rated at 230 hp and 235 lb-ft of torque and 17/27 mpg.  for 2011, both the 3. 5-liter v6 and the 3. 9-liter v6 are flexfuel-capable, meaning they can run on e85 ethanol. Fuel economy drops precipitously with e85, however, tumbling 7 miles per gallon in both cases to 14/22 mpg for the 3. 5-liter and 13/20 mpg for the 3. 9-liter.  on the road, the impala is very stable, a nice cruiser. There's lots of low-end torque from the 3. 9-liter v6. Step on the gas and it goes. Given its size, the impala handles well, and surprisingly so.  inside, there's lots of room, in the front as well as the back seats, and getting in and out is easy. The impala has a big trunk with a big lid that simplifies loading cargo, and it has a generous capacity. Optional flip-and-fold-forward rear seats are exclusive in its class, and provide not only holding wells for groceries but a flat cargo floor that expands the trunk for long items. Last redesigned for 2006, the impala looks a bit long in the tooth.  chevrolet impala comes standard with stabilitrak electronic stability control with traction control, and the latest generation of onstar. Options include an engine block heater 75), 40/20/40 front bench seat 195), and a flip-and-fold-forward rear seat 295).  impala lt 25,605) upgrades to 16-inch aluminum wheels, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, bluetooth and more interior conveniences. Standard wheels are 18-inch machined alloys with p235/55r18 tires.  safety features that come standard on all impalas include dual front airbags, side-curtain roof-mounted airbags for front- and rear-seat passengers, thorax side-impact airbags, anti-lock brakes (abs) with electronic brake-force distribution (ebd), stabilitrak with traction control and tire-pressure monitoring. walkaroundthe impala presents a clean, neat, pleasing design. It's an attractive car. Last redesigned for the 2006 model year, it is aging, however.  the big headlamps have a jeweled appearance with three independent lighting units and are smoothly integrated into the front end. Flat-blade windshield wipers provide consistent pressure on the glass, which helps eliminate streaking and wind noise. Build quality is good, with tight gaps of 3. 5mm or less between body panels.  aside from minor badging, the only exterior differentiations among the trim levels are the wheels and the standard rear spoiler on the ltz. interiorinside is a roomy cabin. The seats have fairly firm cushions and decent lumbar support compared to previous models. A twin-brow instrument panel wraps around into the doors. We found the instrument panel pleasing to the eye, colorful, entertaining and easy to use, with a nice all-of-a-piece unity and style to it. Interior materials are a grade above average.  the dual-zone climate control system is a snap to use, with large, round control knobs and good markings. It can support up to a 12-degree temperature difference side-to-side. The optional remote engine start system comes with a 200-foot operating range and automatic climate pre-conditioning to warm or cool the interior. The glovebox is large enough to actually hold stuff.  the base audio system comes with six speakers, am/fm/cd/mp3 capability, and xm satellite radio. It features speed-sensing volume control and a two-line, 32-character display and the capability to select freely between am, fm and xm. Setting these presets is as easy as holding the button down. A big round knob in the center allows quick volume adjustments. Too many radios nowadays are too complex or have tiny buttons difficult to operate underway. Not so with gm's radios. The impala sound system is sophisticated yet easy to operate. The optional system adds an in-dash six-cd changer. The premium audio system is bose. Turn-by-turn navigation directs the driver through the route by using the digital readout lines in the radio head. Directions are downloaded by the onstar advisor to the vehicle and can be played back or paused anywhere from start to destination. Besides being easy to use (all directions are downloaded to the car by an advisor) turn-by-turn is less expensive than a gps navigation system.  the back seat is roomy and comfortable for two adults or three kids, but not three adults. The forward-flipping rear seat cushions reveal a storage tub underneath that can contain spills or transport a variety of items. The tub also serves as a covered storage area beneath the seat with cushions down, and exposes convenient grocery bag hooks when the cushions are flipped forward. They feature variable valve timing, which changes the orientation of the camshaft, automatically adjusting the timing of the intake and exhaust valves for better performance, economy, and emissions.  the 3. 5-liter e85-compatible v6 that's standard on the ls and lt has variable valve timing and generates 207 horsepower and 215 pound-feet of torque. It gets an epa-rated 18/29 mpg city/highway on gasoline and 14/22 city/highway on e85 ethanol.  the 3. 9-liter e85-compatible v6 has variable valve timing and produces 230 horsepower and 238 pound-feet of torque. The rear suspension uses a multi-link setup with gas-charged struts, coil springs, and a stabilizer bar. Ls and lt models come with the softer fe1 suspension, while the ltz has the performance-tuned fe3 setup and more responsive handling.

2009 pontiac g6 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Fresh styling, improved gas mileage. introductionthe 2009. 5 pontiac g6 brings a fresh appearance some nice engineering upgrades to this sporty lineup of midsize sedans, coupes and convertibles.  a mid-year freshening gives these late-2009 models a sharper look up front, more like that of the top-level gxp. The g6 two-door coupe is sleek and sporty, the convertible features a dramatic folding hardtop, and the sedan is an attractive alternative to other midsize sedans. And several new option packages, which according to pontiac were inspired by consumer demand, make it easier to upgrade and personalize the g6. As before onstar, side airbags and anti-lock brakes are standard equipment on all g6's.  we've found the g6 gt and gxp models to have good road manners, even when driven hard, thanks to their long wheelbase and european-designed architecture. This is based on test drives of the g6 gt sedan, gt convertible, and gxp coupe.  the price point makes the pontiac g6 a popular choice as a mid-size sedan and we've found it roomy and plush with excellent overall function. The coupe is comfortable and sporty. Standard features also include air conditioning; tilt/telescopic steering wheel; power windows, door locks, and mirrors; am/fm/cd stereo with auxiliary input jack; xm satellite radio hardware; onstar; and 17-inch five-spoke wheels with 225/50r17 tires. The preferred package 370) adds cruise control; remote vehicle starting; leather-wrapped steering wheel, brake handle, and shift knob; and steering wheel audio controls. A special value package deletes some equipment and drops the tire size to 215/55r17 for a credit 1,890).  new for 2009 are two sport packages for the base model. Sport package 1 1,245) upgrades to a six-speed automatic transmission for improved performance and economy, and also adds tapshift transmission controls on the steering wheel, a rear spoiler, and stabilitrak electronic stability control. Additionally, the convertible comes with 18-inch machined-face wheels. Backing that up are a sport-tuned suspension, stabilitrak, 18-inch chrometech wheels, unique front and rear fascias, dual chrome exhaust tips, and a leather interior.  the sun and sound plus packages for gt 1,535) and gxp 1,125) include not only the sunroof and six-disc cd changer but also 17-inch chrometech wheels for the gt, or 18-inch black chrometech wheels on gxp. The street edition for the gxp 990) adds hood scoops and a hammerhead spoiler.  other options include a six-way power driver's seat 200) for the base and gt models, an engine-block heater 75), and various appearance items. A premium package 1,195) for base and gt adds heated leather-appointed front bucket seats and six-way power adjustment for the driver's seat. All models offer the new mylink package 250-395), which bundles one year of onstar directions & connections, a full year of xm satellite radio (rather than the standard 3-month trial), a usb port, and bluetooth phone connectivity. Safety features that come on all models include driver and passenger frontal and side-impact airbags, abs with traction control, and latch child-seat attachments. All models except the convertible come with side curtain airbags as well. Outboard front seat belts have pretensioners and load limiters. Onstar 8. 0 is standard on all models, an excellent safety feature thanks to its ability to summon help. walkaroundthe pontiac g6 models are attractive cars. They have the smooth styling of the latest-generation pontiacs, sharing cues with the solstice roadster and other models and sort of a lexus/toyota look from the rear. The traditional pontiac twin upper grille nostrils are now larger, with sharper corners. The broad lower grille with its narrow center divider is gone completely, replaced by a large trapezoidal opening in the center, flanked by a pair of oblong scoops that sweep up at their outboard edges. In all, the look is sharper, more aggressive than before, and more like that of the high-performance gxp (which remains unchanged).  additional new creases in the sedan's rear bumper provide more definition, while echoing the new look up front. Deck-lid spoiler options range from none to a nicely integrated raised lip to the aptly named hammerhead, whose (theoretically functional) side pods resemble the face of its deep-sea namesake.  the restyled gt and unchanged gxp now look more alike than before, although the gxp retains its unique front fascia, with more vertical upper nostrils filled with a grille texture that resembles braided stainless steel. The three lower openings are similar in shape to those on the new base and gt, but without the steer-horn molding, and all three are smaller, leaving room for the more prominent upper grille and for separate round foglight nacelles at the sides. The center opening is black while the side openings share the braided-stainless theme.  the coupe and convertible inject more excitement into the styling. The frameless windows are indexed, meaning that they automatically open 0. 25 inch when the doors are opened, and close again when the door is closed for a tight seal. From the rear, the coupe and convertible feature narrow taillights and a sloping decklid.  the pontiac g6 is built in michigan, from parts and ideas used on the saab 9-3, opel vectra, and chevrolet malibu. interiorthe pontiac g6 has a nice interior with attractive fabrics and comfortable bucket seats. At first, it has that tank-like pontiac feeling of sitting down low in the cockpit, but that feeling goes away in time, and the g6 becomes a happy, comfortable companion. The cabin is altogether different from the old soft-plastic, fat-knob theme of older pontiacs. It's much more modern, more european.  the sporty front bucket seats are made for body comfort and support in handling maneuvers. We found them very comfortable thanks to thick padding and sufficient bolsters.  rear-seat space benefits from the relatively long wheelbase of 112. 3 inches. In the sedan, a 6-foot, 4-inch passenger can sit behind a 6-foot, 4-inch driver with plenty of room. The coupe's rear seating is a little tighter, and the convertible's tighter still, especially in the shoulder and hip room categories. Instruments and controls are presented in white on black (illuminated in red at night). Every single knob and escutcheon has a chrome ring around it; very tasteful, and nicely presented, with small, conservative graphics on the faces and labels.  the center stack has a red-led readout and control panel that makes it easy to use the sound system's features, as well as to customize the locking, lighting, and other functions. The trip computer and driver information system are likewise intuitive and enjoyable to use.  the audio system works well and the knobs are sized well for operating while driving, a welcome relief from the tiny buttons and knobs on many systems. However, we miss the smart pre-set buttons used on previous gm vehicles that let the driver switch from favorite am, fm, a.

2009 mazda mazda6 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. All-new, more spacious, more refined, more powerful. introductionthe 2009 mazda 6 has moved up. All-new, redesigned and re-engineered for 2009, the mazda6 has moved up in size, in features, and in power. All this without serious damage to price, fuel economy, or driving dynamics.  virtually every dimension inside and out has increased with the introduction of these all-new 2009 models. Its new v6 is now among the most powerful in the class, producing 272 horsepower, and it comes standard with an automatic. There is no wagon, hatchback, or mazdaspeed version available for 2009.  navigation is available on the 2009 mazda 6 with voice activation. Bluetooth and blind spot monitoring systems are offered, as are audio inputs and noise-compensation sound systems. These gadgets are convenient, but what we like most about the mazda 6 is its driving dynamics.  the mazda 6 competes against an impressive group of midsize sedans, but we think anyone shopping toyota camry, honda accord, chevrolet malibu, nissan altima, or hyundai sonata should have the mazda6 on their comparison test-drive list. And its sportiness makes the mazda6 an alternative to the acura tl, nissan maxima, and volkswagen passat. The styling isn't conservative and the manners aren't boring.  the 2009 mazda 6 comes with a choice of engines and trim levels. It's also available with a five-speed automatic. The mazda6 s is powered by a 3. 7-liter v6 with an epa-rated 17/25 mpg and comes exclusively with a six-speed automatic. lineupthe mazda 6i sv 20,250) comes with cloth upholstery, air conditioning, power windows/locks/mirrors, tilt/telescope steering wheel with audio controls, 60/40 folding rear seat, floor and cargo mats, map lights, illuminated vanity mirrors, outside temperature display and sirius radio-ready. Accessories include auto-dimming mirrors, fog lights, rear spoiler and 6cd in-dash changer. The mazda 6i sport 20,250) and mazda 6s sport 24,130) get an auxiliary audio input jack, cruise control, remote keyless entry and auto-down front windows. Packages include moonroof and bose package 1760) with bose centerpoint sound system, 6cd in-dash, mp3, sirius; and a convenience package 1610) of dual-zone climate control, xenon headlamps, leather/cloth seats, bluetooth phone/audio, blind spot monitors, rain-sensing wipers, and welcome mode lighting. An upper body crease that would normally go to the front wheel stops just shy of that floating fender, and the rear wheel arches have double creases to mirror the front.  although both mazda and acura use a five-sided grille, mazda's has a deeper v-shape to it and it's all body-colored. There is no chrome beyond the logo wings, and darker colors show even fewer character lines for the most fluid appearance. Fog lights are set in horizontal openings but the lights themselves are vertically-oriented.  at the rear, taillamps wrap well around the sides, and v6-model exhausts are distinctively shaped stand-offs not actually connected to the pipes themselves. The exception is the console trim that slashes across the passenger's dash which, on some models, appears a cross between silver-veined black granite and ash-black burnt wood with wide rings in it. It's a look we've not run across recently. The up-sizing of the mazda6 has resulted in cabin dimensions similar to and occasionally better than the big accord, so even 6-foot-plus bodies could sit in front and then jump in back without moving the front seat, even on cars with the moonroof. The hood slopes out of sight, common in this aero era. The roof pillars are not so wide that they obstruct vision; the outside mirrors are fairly low and so is the dashboard, all adding up to a good view out. Projector headlights come with xenon on some models, and dash and cabin lighting is more than adequate with either set of gauges.  instruments are laid out with fuel and tachometer to the left, speed and coolant temperature to the right, with gear range (on automatics), odometers, and outside temperature indication between the two. When shifting an automatic manually the gear selected is shown in large font above the odometers.  at top center of the dash is a deep red digital display for climate, radio and clock information, easily read by anyone in the car. Below it are center vents, the audio system or navigation if so equipped, and basic three-ring climate controls. On the sides of the dash next to the big greenhouse windows are sizable, omni-directional round vents.  all the systems are simple to use, o.

2009 ford focus review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Sporty new coupe joins newly redesigned sedan lineup. introductionthe 2009 ford focus lineup features a sporty new coupe version. This comes on the heels of a reworking of the ford focus lineup for 2008. And all models benefit from the availability of electronic stability control for 2009.  ford reworked the focus for 2008, giving it new styling inside and out, while maintaining the same platform and basic size. Developed with microsoft, sync provides a hands-free link to cell phones and mp3 players through a series of voice commands. It can even read text messages to occupants through the stereo system.  the 2009 ford focus coupe gains a more distinct identity from the sedan with its own front and rear bumper fascias, a dark chrome grille, and fog lights. A roof spoiler and 17-inch dark chrome aluminum wheels come on the focus coupe ses. Focus sedans and coupes with manual transmissions gain a few horsepower (to 143 hp) for 2009; and focus coupe ses automatics get quicker gearing. Yet no loss in fuel economy.  inside, the focus is aesthetically pleasing. It looks better than the pre-2008 model, with nicer graining on the plastics that continue to dominate the cockpit.  we found the focus handles well. We experienced lots of road feel with little body lean in corners while driving an focus ses with its a sportier suspension. That road feel can make the ride a bit harder than some might prefer, but it isn't harsh and we appreciated the handling response.  the focus has decent power for most needs, but passing on a busy two-lane road requires some space. The coupe comes in se and ses trim only. Options for s include sirius satellite radio 195), daytime running lights 40), and an engine block heater 35).  focus se coupe and sedan 16,180) add power windows, locks and heated mirrors; remote keyless entry; sirius satellite radio; and a rear stabilizer bar for more balanced handling. Sedans upgrade to 15-inch aluminum wheels while coupes roll on 205/50r16 tires on 16-inch alloy rims. Se options consist of the driver's group 415) with cruise control, auto-dimming rearview mirror and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with redundant audio and cruise controls; cruise control alone 215); sync in-car communications and entertainment 395); ambient interior lighting 295) that uses led lights to illuminate the front cupholders and front and rear footwells with the driver's choice of seven different colors; power code remote starter 435); and other minor items. Fog lights are standard on the coupe but optional 355) on the sedan.  focus ses coupe and sedan 17,570) come standard with sync and the driver's group, and add bright interior trim and fog lights. The sedan gets 16-inch aluminum wheels while the coupe comes with 215/45r17 tires on 17-inch wheels; 17-inch wheels are optional on the sedan 580). The moon & tune package 795) combines a power glass sunroof with a premium stereo and six-disc cd changer. Leather upholstery with heated front seats are optional 810).  focus sel sedan 17,970) adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, and chrome door handles.  safety features that come standard consist of dual-stage front airbags; torso-protecting, seat-mounted front side airbags; head-protecting side curtain airbags; tire pressure monitor; and latch-style child seat anchors. For 2009, the coupe benefits from further freshening.  the focus front end is dominated by a two-bar version of the three-bar, razor-like grille that first appeared on the fusion. The grille is flanked by headlights that wrap around to the sides and follow the curve of the hood toward the windshield.  the focus sedan features a bright chrome grille, and the air intake below the bumper is divided into three rectangular sections, with space for black-bezeled fog lights at the extreme ends.  for 2009, the coupe gets its own face, with a darker chrome grille and a single, large opening beneath the bumper that narrows slightly toward the top. Fog lights are tunneled directly into the fascia on either side; above them, the fascia is cut away, almost like a step. It's all a bit more interesting to look at but doesn't reduce the bumper's visual mass.  the sedan's sides feature a chromed triangular applique at the back of each front fender that looks like tacked on ornamentation. This piece, which looks like an f on the driver's side, is the starting point for a pair of character lines that flow back. The bottom line leads to the rear wheel well, while the top line rises from front to rear and teams with a high tail to give the focus the appearance of motion.  here, the 2009 coupe drops the bright ornament and allows the character lines to flow more subtly and naturally from behind the curve of the front wheel arch. The 17-inch alloy wheels of the ses feature a dark, turbine-blade look that nicely complements the dark grille.  the rear of the coupe roofline stays almost as high as the sedan's, which makes it look a bit clunky on the se, although this is relieved somewhat by the new roof spoiler on the ses. Both styles look best from the rear, where the simple angular shapes seem to work. The 2009 coupe adds a bit of blackout trim at the bottom center of the bumper fascia, but if anything this only seems to emphasize the bumper's mass. interiorinside the ford focus is an aesthetically pleasing cockpit. The dashboard is dominated by a shiny plastic silver inset that covers the middle of the dash and leads into the center console. This is surrounded by black plastic top and bottom. There are no soft-touch materials here, but the graining looks nicer than it did in the previous-generation model. The center console is deep, though not especially wide.  on top of the dash is a hooded cutout that displays trip computer, radio, and, when ordered, sync information. The instrument panel has two large gauges, the speedometer and tachometer, and two small gauges, the fuel gauge and water temperature gauge. Along the top are buttons for 10 radio station presets. Or simply hit the steering wheel's voice control button and use voice commands. An easy-to-use set of climate controls is located below the stereo and sync controls. We found these buttons easy to identify and reach.  at the base of the center stack is a nice rubberized tray. This area is important because it is where drivers keep phones and ipods when they use the sync system. We found sync to be genuinely useful and fairly easy to use. When an mp3 player is plugged in, sync charges it and has access to the complete playlist. The driver can tell sync to play a specific song, artist, or genre of music from his mp3 player. When a bluetooth-enabled phone is in the car and paired to the system, sync can access its phonebook. It can even play back incoming text messages through the speakers and allow the driver to respond with one of 15 predetermined messages, all while the driver keeps his or her hands on the wheel. Voice commands can be challenging at times, however. And in general, the system is a bit tricky to learn.  the front seats are comfortable, with plenty of head and leg room. Thanks to large mirrors and small rear pillars, the driver's seat affords a good view to all corners. The rear seat has decent room with shorter people up front, but leg room disappears as the seats are moved back for taller front seat occupants. Head room is decent in the sedan, but a bit lacking in the coupe.  the trunk is fairly large at 13. 8 cubic feet. That's as big as or bigger than some midsize cars. The second row seats fold mostly flat to allow loading long, flat packages. This focus, though different in appearance, is basically that same car

2011 ford fiesta review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. All new fiesta brings new life to an old name. introductionthe all new 2011 ford fiesta resurrects a legacy nameplate in the blue oval family with a sparkling new sedan and hatchback that sport new technology inside and underneath. Non voice audio controls and for creature comfort settings revert to basic knobs and buttons that are sized and arrayed for ease of use with minimal distraction from the driving task.  comfortable seats have enough side and bottom bolsters to keep occupants properly positioned, but gingerly, without obstructing ingress and egress. Quality of interior materials is either on a par with or a tick or two above the expected standard for cars in the new fiesta's class. Ford wants to boost this even further, too, with something not commonly found on cars in this size and price class: leather seating surfaces and heated front seats are optional on the top of the line sedan and hatchback.  underneath, the fiesta introduces a new transmission technology as an option to the fiesta's standard, 5 speed manual gearbox. This is a 6 speed, twin clutch, automated manual that operates like an automatic but with the fuel economy of a manual transmission. Evidence of this latter benefit is the epa estimated, city/highway rating of 30/40 miles per gallon for the 6 speed against 29/38 mpg for the 5 speed. Normally, an automatic would come up two or more mpg short of a manual.  the new fiesta feels right at home running around town and on weekend errands. It slips conveniently into fleeting gaps in stop and go urban traffic and into space limited parking slots. Its 120 horsepower, 1. 6 liter engine will take the daily commute in stride. Wind and road noise is decently muted. Steering feel is certain. Corners taken at responsible speeds reveal little body roll. This means it'll also handle quite well a relaxed sunday drive to the coast or to a family gathering.  the two body styles make distinct statements. The sedan is an interesting combination of an american style econobox with softened edges and a high rear deck (trunk lid). The hatchback presents a more satisfying, euro like profile, with nicely wedged side character lines and an almost sensuously rounded posterior. The standard transmission is a 5 speed manual. Steel wheels with a six spoke hubcap wear 185/65r15 tires. An option package adds a cd/mp3 player, remote keyless entry, auto lock doors 495).  fiesta se 14,320) comes with the fiesta s option package content plus upgraded upholstery; metallic painted interior trim accents; power windows; trip computer; and 195/60r15 tires on aluminum alloy wheels. Option packages include sync entertainment center with six speakers and 80 watts, redundant audio controls on the steering wheel and usb equipped center console 665), and a sport appearance group 815) that includes painted aluminum wheels, cruise control and deck lid spoiler.  fiesta sel 16,320) has everything that was standard and optional on the s and the se plus rear seat floor mats; seven color ambient lighting; a second, rear seat auxiliary power point; auto dim rearview mirror; sirius satellite radio; and leather wrapped steering wheel. Fiesta sel comes with 195/50r16 tires on aluminum alloy wheels. One upgrade option group is offered, with chrome external trim, heated front seats, perimeter alarm and keyless door unlock/pushbutton start/stop 795).  the fiesta hatchback has two trim levels, the se 15,120) and the ses 17,120). Standard equipment on the se hatchback tracks the se sedan's, as do the available option groupings' content, save for the sport appearance group 575) because the hatchback comes standard with a spoiler. Fiesta ses is equipped similarly to sel.  stand alone options for the se sedan and hatchback include a power moonroof 695); sirius satellite radio coupled with seven color ambient lighting 370); carpeted rear floor mats 35); and heated front seats and outside mirrors 195). The super fuel economy package 795) comprises cruise control, partial grille blockers, side air deflectors, underbody shields and 195/60r15 t-rated (low rolling resistance) tires. (ford hasn't released official estimates for expected fuel economy increases, but independent studies suggest t-rated tires can cut fuel use by between 1. 5 percent and 4. 5 percent.)  options for sel and ses include leather seating trim 715), power moonroof and special exterior paints. The sel can be tricked out with a ground effect lower body kit 700), and a more aggressive, euro style rear spoiler can be added to the ses 295).  safety equipment that comes standard includes seven airbags, with dual stage frontal, front seat side impact, side curtain and driver knee; antilock brakes; electronic stability control; tire pressure monitoring system; and child safety seat anchors (latch). walkaroundlooking at the 2011 fiesta profiling proud in a parking lot, certain telling descriptors come to mind. Overdone side sculpting. Proper proportion (hatchback). Hyped fender arches. Conversely, some of it isn't.  ford's stylists describe the lower grille opening as a reverse trapezoid. Bottom-feeding catfish fits, too. The body colored treatment of the hatchback's upper grille is a better fit for the car's proportions, and market position, than the ford fusion themed horizontal chrome strips on the sedan. The geometrical exercises that frame the led driving lights on the uplevel models conflict with the otherwise, flowing round shapes of the front fascia and the double creased fender arches. Eyed head on, the stance is solid, with the front tires visible outside of the leading edges of the fenders.  viewed from the side, what's forward of the sedan's c-pillar (the vertical frame behind the rear side door's window) looks right. The front wheelwell arch may overwhelm the tire and the parallel character lines on the upper and lower door panels a little too sharply creased, but the silhouette shows a relatively fast windshield, wraparound headlights that minimize the front overhang and a good balance between body and window. From the c-pillar aft, however, something's out of line or of alignment. Either the backlight (the rear glass) is too round or too fast or the deck lid is too short (which also means a small trunk opening). It's as if that part of the sedan belongs on a larger car.  the side hindquarters of the hatchback, on the other hand, share none of this uncertainty, with all the lines, even the brazen character slashes on the doors, coming together in a shapely collection of complementary facets. Perchance this is because the hatchback is some 13 inches shorter overall than the sedan. Whatever, it's a tauter package and a better fit for the wheelbase (distance between the wheels, front to rear), which is the same on both models.  the posterior of the sedan is econo car generic and wouldn't look out of place on any number of pacific rim import brands. The chrome strip topping the license plate recess gives the trunk lid a touch of class. The black valance panel across the bottom of the rear bumper helpfully reduces the visual mass. The hatchback's vertically arrayed taillights brace the liftgate, which is hinged far enough forward that opening demands minimal space behind the car. The spoiler perches atop the rear window like an eyelid. The lip running the full width of the liftgate ties into the upper side character line and gives some heft to the lower portion of the liftgate, contrasting well with a black lower valance slightly more prominent than the sedan's. interiorif there was a guiding credo for the designers assigned to craft an all-new interior for the 2011 fiesta, it was to focus more on entertaining than informing. How this affects the driver's focus on the primary job of driving a car may be subject to debate, but clearly, at least as far as the new fiesta is concerned, ford has chosen its side.  the dominant feature of the dashboard is not the instrument panel, with its analog speedometer, tachometer and fuel gauge, but the center of the dashboard. Ford says the array of infotainment controls housed in a brushed metallic pod and topped by a deeply hooded data screen was intended to evoke thoughts of a pda or a sma.
