2012 dodge charger review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. An unequivocally american muscle car. introductionit's as if nobody told dodge about american cars: that they are cheap, flimsy, incompetent. To the contrary, the dodge charger is a proudly american muscle sedan, pumped, powerful, and full of swagger. Without effort, it meets that challenge and welcomes the battle. The charger is proof that american carmakers have learned that they can no longer market shoddy design and haphazard assembly. To that end, the dodge charger is a proud product of the new detroit. It's handsomely designed and has world-class fit and finish. From crankshaft to door handles, everything operates with fine precision and the promise of long-lasting service.  the dodge charger was redesigned for the 2011 model year, and there are no significant changes for the 2012 charger except that a new 2012 dodge charger srt8 has been added to the model lineup. The 2012 charger is the second year of the second generation of the modern charger. The first generation ran 2006-2010. The original was launched as a '66. The general lee bo and luke duke drove was a '69.  from the outside, this second-generation charger looks a lot like an older rendering of the american sedan, but that appearance is misleading. The retro look is a self-confident exercise in sinuous american styling.  the interior, however, is anything but old style. A first-rate, 8. 4-inch touch-screen navigation system is coupled with a rearview camera and ancillary controls for climate and audio. The latest navigation system is sensationally intuitive, transparent, and pleasing to use, among the best we've seen. It's very easy to read and very easy to understand. Underscoring this user-friendliness, the charger's audio controls for volume and tuning are accomplished with old-fashioned, practical radial knobs: what a concept! German luxury brands costing vastly more could learn from the charger's straightforward controls.  nothing else is more happily apparent in the new dodge charger than that chrysler has enthusiastically embraced the new design and quality standards dictated by detroit's recent, painful bailouts. They must build better cars at lower prices than the competition. V6 chargers earn a stellar 31 mpg highway.  the 2012 dodge charger is the classic combination: a full-size detroit sedan with strong performance and unmistakable american looks, selling at a surprisingly attractive price. Compared with the full-size dodge sedan of 20 or 30 years ago, a 2012 charger will reward the owner with exciting styling, world-class engineering and impressive value. Connectivity group for sxt 395) includes voice command with bluetooth, auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls and leather-wrapped shift knob. Charger r/t 29,995) features the 5. 7-liter 370-bhp hemi v8 with decel fuel shut off (dfso). Adaptive cruise control group for sxt plus, r/t plus, and r/t road & track 925) adds forward collision warning with adaptive cruise control and heated steering wheel. Navigation group 795) includes voice command with garmin navi, sirius traffic, sirius travel link, and parking view rear backup camera.  safety features on all dodge chargers includes electronic traction control (tcs), electronic stability control (esc), anti-lock brakes (abs), electronic brake distribution (ebd), brake assist, rain brake support, hill-start assist, automatic headlamps, active front head restraints, all federally mandated airbags (seven), front seatbelt pretensioners, lower anchors and tethers for children (latch), occupant restraint controller. Available all-wheel drive can improve handling stability in adverse conditions, and the available rearview camera can help the driver spot a child behind the car when backing up. walkaroundthis latest-generation dodge charger is immediately recognizable. The front says it's a dodge, a design theme that began life on, of all things, the upright first-generation dodge ram pickup truck. The two vehicles could not be more different, yet the aggressive, muscular cruciform grille suits both perfectly. Achieving that kind of unmistakable model-line identity is no small achievement.  in like manner, the tail of the charger uses the same array of full-width taillamps made famous on the charger in the '60s. It's a handsome look that is instantly recognizable to anyone familiar with historic dodge styling cues. The charger expresses pride in where dodge, chrysler corporation, and for that matter, all american cars have been during the last few turbulent decades.  the body of the second-generation modern charger is crisply styled throughout. It is considerably edgier and more muscular than its immediate predecessor, which had great promise but was, by comparison, a bit of a lump. Along the sides of the car are slanting, angular indentations that echo the racy rear-facing engine-room vents made so famous on the all-conquering dodge viper supercar. In the charger, these are unmistakably bad looking in all of the right street-savvy ways.  continuing this street look, in profile, the car's dramatically low roofline tapers downward rapidly at the car's mid-point. In combination with its high waistline and compressed greenhouse, the car expresses a secretive, almost hot-rod chopped appearance. Occupants seem to peer outward from sinister gun slit-like windows. Yet for all of its hunched-over appearance, the occupants' outward visibility is quite good enough.  when the charger's dynamic outward appearance is combined with its strong performance, this is an american muscle sedan with the credentials to appeal to a broad range of tastes. interiorexamining the charger's interior, we started in the back seat to investigate just how limited seating room might be underneath this low roofline. Inevitably, tall backseat passengers will have to scrunch down a little, though moderately tall riders will be just fine. The rear cabin is comfortable and roomy without being huge. The top of the backlight has multi-linear applique black stripes, providing a bit of shade from the sun and simultaneously creating the impression from outside that the rear window is even lower and more hooded.  the rear seat is firm and supportive, with a fairly hard back-cushion. A central pull-down elbow rest contains two cup holde. Power Windows✔ Anti-lock Brakes✔ Power Mirrors✔ Power Locks✔ Cruise Control✔ Backup Camera✔ Navigation System✔ Remote Start✔ Bluetooth

2000 ford explorer review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. America's favorite suv. introductionthe ford explorer is easily the best-selling sport-utility in america. Nearly 2. 8 million suvs were sold in 1998 and some 425,000 of them were ford explorers. About 430,000 explorers were sold in 1999. The explorer outsold its nearest competitor nearly two-to-one.  what's the significance of all these numbers? Simply this: ford must be doing something right to sell so many explorers. The xls includes such niceties as power mirrors, locks and windows, an am/fm stereo cassette audio system, and aluminum wheels. With 4-wheel drive, the xls starts at $25,170.  explorer drivers can move up to the $27,185 xlt, which adds fog lights, privacy glass and interior trim items; the 4x4 xlt lists for $29,150.  further up the explorer hierarchy is the eddie bauer edition for $31,740 with two-wheel drive. This explorer adds 16-inch wheels, automatic temperature controls, electrochromatic rearview mirror, upgraded audio and trim items, including leather upholstery. The eddie bauer 4x4 starts at $33,705, or $34,120 with all-wheel drive. The limited is the top of the explorer line, with more leather plus simulated woodgrain, special wheels and exterior trim, and retails for $31,995 for 4x2, $33,960 for 4x4, $34,375 for awd. walkaroundjust about everything has changed on the explorer since its 1991 introduction. Still, if asked to describe a sport-utility vehicle, most people could save time by just showing a picture of the explorer.  the xlt is the typical explorer, well equipped but not overly fancy or too expensive. It features a bright front and rear bumper with an integrated rub strip. Its compound headlamp array includes the headlights plus parking lights, turn signals and side marker lights in a single aero-curved assembly set into the bright grille surround. The grille itself is simple, with a large crossbar decorated with the ford blue oval badge and three smaller vertical bars. The rear bumper echoes the front in appearance, but comes standard with a 3500-pound trailer towing capacity. Tri-color taillights and a liftgate with a flip-open rear window finish off the rear.  the explorer uses an independent short/long arm front suspension with torsion bars and a live axle mounted on two-stage variable-rate leaf springs at the rear. A 4. 0-liter pushrod v6 is standard in the xls and can be upgraded to the 4. 0-liter overhead-cam v6 for those wanting more performance. These engines come with a choice of 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission. The xlt and more expensive models, however, come standard with a 5. 0-liter overhead-valve v8 with a 4-speed automatic. The 215-horsepower v8 cranks out 288 foot-pounds of torque. Ford made its trailer towing package standard on all v8-equipped explorers. interiorthe inside of the ford explorer looks like america's living room, which is appropriate, considering that so many americans spend so much time there. The front passengers get a pair of comfy captain's chairs, covered in a premium cloth for the xlt. Big doors make access easy, though the xlt doesn't have the running boards standard on the eddie bauer and limited models. The dash features full instrumentation in a neatly laid out nacelle. The radio and hvac (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) controls are centered on the dash in a pod; that pod also houses a knob that controls the 4wd operation. The audio and cabin temperature controls are easy enough to use though we'd prefer an old-fashioned twist knob to control station tuning on the radio. The xlt has a handy center console/arm rest.  front seat side-impact airbags are optional. Considering the poor rear vision suvs have when backing up, this rear sensing system is an important safety option. driving impressionthe explorer is easier to drive on a daily basis than the bigger suvs in the ford stable. It is far more nimble in crowded parking lots with narrow spaces or on forest roads with tight switchbacks. If a small turning circle is paramount, the 2-door is a better choice, at 34. 7 feet curb to curb, though the 4-door explorer manages a fairly nimble 37. 3 feet.  the v6 is the most popular engine. But the 5. 0-liter v8 assures a certain command of the road with an ability to accelerate with all but the sportiest of automobiles, handy for merging or passing. It's the best choice for doing any towing, with reserve power for climbing hills and bucking headwinds. But the explorer is indeed a truck. It's responsive to its rack-and-pinion steering, reacting smartly to a turn of the wheel, but there's no denying the high-mounted center of gravity and overall mass of the vehicle. It handles like a truck. The explorer's relatively heavy tires and live rear axle arrangement also work against a luxury car ride. The explorer shares the cargo-hauling capability of the station wagons of yore, but it adds ground clearance and, in 4x4 versions, the promise of all-season mobility. 2001 chevrolet silverado 1500 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Advanced engineering in a familiar package. introductionford may have the best-selling pickup in america, but a whole lot of americans still prefer a chevrolet. While dearborn's most recent light-duty pickup has taken on a windswept, aerodynamic look, and dodge has carved a niche with its vaguely retro, little big-rig theme, chevrolet has stuck with a more conservative shape, bluff in the nose and square in the shoulders. Chevrolet feels its customers are more comfortable with traditional truck styling. So when the chevy pickup was totally re-designed, re-engineered and even re-named for 1999, its styling was updated but not radically changed.  at the same time, however, chevrolet caught up with (or even surpassed) the technology and refinement of the more radical looking ford and dodge. The silverado, as chevy calls its pickups now, is a great achievement, better than the previous 'c/k' truck in every respect. It rides better, handles better and stops quicker; it's faster and it's more comfortable. In fact, the silverado ranks as one of the most luxurious pickups we've ever driven.  for 2001, silverado adds even more power, convenience and durability. All extended-cab models now have two auxiliary rear doors, rather than just one on the curbside. Onstar is available on newer lt models. Three trim levels are available: base, ls, and lt. The 'half-ton' range includes both the 1500 series, with actual payloads ranging from 1593 to 2334 pounds (depending on bed, cab, and drive configuration), and the heavier-duty 2500 series with payloads in the 2612-3224-pound range. Just to make things as confusing as possible, there's also a 1500hd model with a crew cab body.  silverado 1500 models are available with a 4. 8-liter v8, a 5. 3-liter v8, and a 4. 3-liter v6. The 2500 is powered exclusively by a 6. 0-liter v8.  three-quarter-ton silverados are badged 2500hd and 3500, and offer payloads up to 6089 pounds. Look for those in a separate nctd. Com test drive. walkaroundsilverado's frame is the stiffest and lightest truck frame general motors has ever built. The front frame rails are hydroformed, a new process that uses high-pressure hydraulics to shape relatively large and complex components that used to be fabricated from smaller stampings. Tubular crossmembers and roll-formed mid-rails increase rigidity further. These feature a delayed-upshift mode for towing. They are excellent transmissions. interioras with the exterior design, the silverado interior reflects traditional chevrolet thinking. The doors and door openings are now the largest in the industry, while the cab is the roomiest.  the instrument package looks like a cross between what is found in the new corvette and what was used in the old c/k trucks. All use pleasant white-on-black graphics.  the sound-system control panel is located above the climate controls. Air conditioning outlets and a set of drop-down cup holders are built in for rear-seat passengers. A compass is incorporated into the lt model's overhead console, along with three storage areas for sunglasses, garage door opener, and small items. When cargo capacity is more important than hauling passengers, the entire rear seat assembly can be removed with a wrench and lifted out through the side door.  about the only thing we didn't like was the design of the interior door handles, which operate in an up-and-in arc and felt loose whenever we used them. The system calls for assistance automatically if the truck's airbags have deployed. driving impressionwe loved every mile we put on the silverado lt. It drives like a luxury car and is supremely smooth and quiet. That smooth, quiet, unified feel is largely due to the new chassis, which provides a 23-percent increase in stiffness. New mounting and isolation hardware reduces noise and vibration. A cast magnesium beam behind the instrument panel and a lateral steel beam between the magnesium beam and the right side of the dash further reinforce the stiff body. Squeaks and rattles have been eliminated. This is one strong truck, and its chassis rigidity allows the suspension to soak up and manage bumps and ruts and tar strips so well that its overall ride behavior is near luxury. Even the rack-and-pinion system has a fairly wide dead spot in the center when cruising, which chevrolet says is designed to minimize steering corrections on the highway. That's enough to smoke the rear tires at will. The new engine is a much better small-block than before, and we recommend the 5. 3 over the smaller 4. 8-liter version.  the brakes are substantially improved over the old c/k brakes, and it's a welcome improvement. Braking force comes into play only an inch into the pedal travel, a welcome improvement over the mushy pedal on the previous pickup. A new feature called dynamic rear proportioning improves stability under heavy braking, whether the truck is loaded or empty. And it is the newest design from the big three detroit manufacturers. The silverado lt we drove is the smoothest, quietest, most civilized, best equipped, and most enjoyable pickup truck we've driven in many years. 2014 ford taurus review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The front-wheel or all-wheel drive taurus is powered by a 290-hp 3. 5-liter direct injection v6 engine and six-speed automatic transmission with selectshift manual gear control. The high performance sho is powered by a twin-turbo version of the 3. 5-liter v6, it produces 365-hp and channels that through standard all-wheel drive and a paddle-shifted six-speed automatic transmission. There are many kinds of technology features available such as cross traffic alert, collision warning, active park assistance, mykey parental features, sync, capless refueling, touch-pad keyless entry, adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, rain-sensing wipers and intelligent keyless entry. After the 2013 model year refresh, the taurus carries over into 2014 with two new exterior colors and some extra standard equipment for the limited trim in the name of heated and cooled seats, power tilt and telescope steering column and intelligent keyless entry with push-button start. 2013 ford mustang review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. With more refinements for 2013, it keeps getting better. introductionthe 2013 ford mustang features a facelift and comes out bigger, bolder, cleaner. It's a change, not just a tweak. The 2013 mustang resembles a steve mcqueen bullitt mustang, its mouth shaped more like '70 mustang than a '65.  the mustang was redesigned for 2005 and got rave reviews for its looks, totally capturing the old mustang but still looking contemporary. The styling tweaks since then have made it even better, and that holds true for the 2013 mustang.  a black eggcrate grille opens wide over the bumper, with a clean and full chin, fascia, and air intakes, and just a tidy flat-black horizontal spoiler at the lip. The triangular rear window masterfully evokes the roofline of original '65 mustang, replacing its fake louvers with glass.  we're less enthusiastic about the interior of the 2013 mustang. Reviews all end up saying that the materials are okay considering the price of the car, remember it's only a mustang, and we can't argue. The steering wheel lacks imagination, and that's disappointing.  however the cloth seats are great; cloth can easily be a deal-breaker, and in the mustang it's not. In fact, the cloth seats fit better than the leather, maybe because they grip better. The optional recaro seats in either cloth or leather are excellent. There's good head and leg room up front, and visibility through the windshield is good, especially for a low-slung coupe. There's considerably more room and better visibility in the mustang than in the chevrolet camaro.  naturally, the two-passenger rear seat is no place for adults. Rear-seat headroom is limited by the rake of the coupe roof, and leg room is minimal, even with the front seats moved forward. That comes with the territory of such a car and its shape and is a small price to be paid for such proportions.  the retro instrument panel in the v6 and gt models clings too hard to the theme, we think. Having retro instrumentation on a car with modern performance like the mustang is like having a telephone with a cord. The optional shaker audio system is acoustically superb. Ford's sync system works well to choose music, but we had trouble operating it with voice commands.  the mustang convertible has a power fabric top and glass rear window. Trunk space in the convertible is reduced to 9. 6 cubic feet, from 13. 4 cubic feet in the coupe. It's a fairly high-revving engine, reaching its horsepower peak at 6500 rpm and its torque peak at 4250 rpm, so it's good to play with. And the manual comes with hill start assist, so no worries about coasting backward when starting off on a steep hill. The automatic, meanwhile, does have a manual-shift feature it's awkward to use.  the mustang v6 is epa-rated at 19/31 miles per gallon city/highway. However, we didn't get anywhere near that, running it hard on twisty two-lanes.  mustang gt has a smooth, rumbling and growling 5. 0-liter v8 engine. That's quicker than the chevrolet camaro ss, even with its huge 6. 2-liter engine and 426 horsepower. But the mustang is 230 pounds lighter, and that makes a big difference in acceleration, also handling.  the boss 302 makes 444 horsepower with the same engine. However the boss has non-retro instrumentation, that's way cleaner. And it's a boss 302.  brakes are good. Ford engineers have revised the braking system of the flex, taurus, and mustang, and the feel is powerful without being overly sensitive. The names of the modes are apt. Comfort mode kept the ride comfortable when driving over rough pavement, sport mode improved responsiveness on winding roads. We found the electronic stability control effective without being intrusive.  the 650-horsepower shelby gt 500 joins the 2013 mustang lineup. Also standard are a 2. 73 rear axle ratio, 17-inch aluminum wheels, electronic power steering, stainless steel dual exhaust, hid headlamps, led taillamps, capless fuel filler, manual air conditioning, tilt steering wheel with controls, cloth seats, and 50/50 rear folding seats (not convertible).  the v6 performance package includes a strut-tower brace, larger front sway bar and svt rear sway bar, stiffer front springs, upgraded brake calipers with performance pad, 19-inch painted aluminum wheels, 255/40r19 summer-only tires, higher stability control calibration, black side mirrors, 3. 31 rear axle, and unique engine cover (manual transmission only). There's also an equipment package 295) and tech package 1295). For the premium models, there's a comfort package and electronics package.  mustang gt models use a 5. 0-liter v8 making 420 horsepower and 390 foot-pounds of torque, with the same transmission selection, 3. 73 rear axle, and 18-inch aluminum wheels. Equipment and options closely match the v6 packages. The premiums have reclining front bucket seats, a shaker audio system, and ambient lighting.  boss 302 uses a pumped-up version of that v8, with 444 hp and 380 foot-pounds, and 19-inch aluminum wheels. Recaro cloth is optional, as is a laguna seca track package 6995).  shelby gt 500 coupe and convertible mean business with a 650-horsepower and 600-foot-pounds 5. 8-liter supercharged intercooled v8, mated to a tremec 6-speed manual transmission, with 6-piston brembo calipers on 14-inch front rotors. Bilstein electronic adjustable dampers, 3. 31 rear axle ratio, torsen differential, black-vented aluminum hood, gt 500 striping, and shelby cobra front fascia, splitter, and spoiler. Also creature comforts such as leather seats, ambient lighting, lcd message center, suede steering wheel, satellite radio. Extra oil coolers, aerodynamics, and 20-inch wheels.  safety equipment on all mustangs includes front and front side airbags, stability control, anti-lock brakes, tire pressure monitor, and ford's mykey system, which allows car owners (parents) to limit the speed and sound system volume, when they hand the keys over to others (teenagers). walkaroundthe looks of the mustang keep evolving nicely. It was the best looking of the reborn retro machines when it was redesigned in 2005, and it's only gotten better looking since then.  for 2013, mustang gets another facelift, with a stronger and cleaner grille and front fascia, incorporating the air intakes and doing away with all the flat-black plastic from before. New hid projector-beam headlamps have two led streaks at their sides, a look that will take getting used to.  the sequential led taillamps are another matter, instantly pretty on the nice rear end that's true to '65 mustang. At the rear, there's new body-colored fascia on the 2013 mustang, again replacing flat black pieces (good riddance). Another improvement for 2013 is the loss of the flat-black rockers; they're now body-colored and grownup. And there are many new wheel designs for 2013.  overall, the 2013 mustang looks tougher and more mustangy than ever. The combination of open-mouthed grille and bulging hood gives the 2013 mustang muscular distinction. The gt boasts real black vents, in the bulging hood over its beefy 5. 0-liter v8. The chrome mustang galloping horse logo against the black eggcrate grille, on the base v6 model, also looks hot, and traditional. The foglamps go inside the grille like bookends on the silver horse, also just like 1965.  the sideview mirrors do something cool: when the unlock button on the remote is pressed, an image of a galloping horse in white led light appears on the ground like a spotlight on a stage.  the small triangular rear window is a stroke of design brilliance, and makes the roofline sleek. It's wonderfully and totally true to the 1965 mustang fastback, which used vertical fake louvers in that triangular roofline sweep.  the twin wide stripes on the 2013 shelby gt that's coming in summer of 2012 are classic. Some of the other graphics packages are dubious. Anti-lock Brakes✔ Bucket Seats✔ Air Conditioning✔ Leather Seats✔ Aluminum Wheels

2013 hyundai elantra review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Coupe and five-door hatch join sedan lineup. introductionone of the best compact cars on the market, the 2013 hyundai elantra continues to be a winning combination of compelling styling, able performance and interior comfort. With unique styling cues and driving characteristics, the elantra coupe and elantra gt are positioned as sporty alternatives to the traditional sedan.  the elantra coupe is fun yet practical, and fits between the elantra sedan and the more enthusiast-oriented genesis coupe. A v-beam rear suspension, instead of the torsion beam found on the sedan, gives the coupe and gt a firmer, more planted feel, and helps to reduce body roll around corners. Suspensions are tuned differently between models with standard 16-inch and optional 17-inch wheels, with the larger wheels receiving an even sportier treatment. Although the base 2013 elantra gls model starts at more than $1,000 over the 2012 model, it gets more standard features including air conditioning, a telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, and 16-inch (instead of 15-inch) wheels. On gls models equipped with the automatic transmission, heated front seats are included with the optional preferred package.  we found all elantra variants enjoyable to drive. The sedan's smooth ride and responsive handling make for a plush, but not numb, driving experience. The coupe and gt models feel more connected to the road, without sacrificing road-trip comfort.  inside, the elantra sedan is roomy all around, especially by compact standards, with interior measurements comparable to those of a small midsize car. The coupe and gt, however, suffer from a lack of rear headroom due to the steeper rake of their rooflines. Like most compacts, elantra is front-wheel drive. Using lighter materials such as aluminum and plastic on engine parts helps to keep the elantra family relatively lightweight, around 2,700 pound for the coupe and a bit more for the gt. The sedan weighs in at around 2,900 pounds, which is good for a compact sedan. These lower curb weights help elantra achieve solid performance and excellent fuel economy.  epa ratings for all elantra variants are some of the most competitive in the industry. Sedans are rated at 28/38 mpg city/highway with both manual and automatic transmissions. That's better than the ford focus (26/36 mpg), chevrolet cruze (26/36 mpg), or honda civic (28/36 mpg). The elantra coupe is epa-rated at 29/40 mpg with the manual and 28/39 mpg city/highway with the automatic. The elantra coupe takes on the honda civic coupe and the kia forte koup, along with larger, more expensive two-doors such as the honda accord. All seat five.  elantra gls sedan 16,695) comes standard with the 6-speed manual transmission, cloth upholstery, six-way manual driver's seat, manually operated air conditioning, cruise control, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, six-speaker audio system with cd player, satellite radio capability and ipod/usb port; 60/40-split folding rear seat, power windows, locks and heated mirrors, tilt steering wheel, keyless entry, anti-theft system, trip computer, and 16-inch steel wheels. The automatic transmission 1,000) is optional. A preferred package 750) is available on gls models equipped with the 6-speed automatic transmission that includes heated front seats, cloth inserts on the door trim, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, sliding center armrest, bluetooth hands-free phone system with voice recognition, additional interior lighting, fog lights and alloy wheels.  elantra limited sedan 20,945) comes only with the automatic transmission and includes leather upholstery, heated front and rear seats, leather-wrapped wheel and shift knob, air conditioning, minor cabin upgrades, power sunroof, fog lights, mirror-imbedded turn signals, black chrome grille, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The limited technology package 2,350) adds pushbutton start, dual automatic climate control, navigation with 7-inch screen, rearview camera, 360-watt premium audio system and automatic headlights.  elantra coupe gs 17,445) includes heated front seats, air conditioning, power accessories, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, steering-wheel mounted controls, sliding center arm rest, 60/40 split folding rear seats, a 6-speaker audio system with cd player, satellite radio capability, auxiliary jack and an ipod/usb port; fog lights and 16-inch alloy wheels. The automatic transmission is optional 1,000).  elantra coupe se 19,745) adds leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a one-touch-up driver's window, aluminum pedals, sport-tuned suspension, power sunroof, a hood insulator, side mirrors with integrated turn signals, a rear spoiler and 17-inch alloy wheels. The automatic transmission is optional 1,000). The elantra coupe se can also be equipped with the technology package 23,095) which includes the automatic transmission and everything found on the se trim plus dual automatic climate control, navigation with 7-inch screen, upgraded 360-watt audio system, rearview camera and automatic headlights.  elantra gt five-door 18,395) comes standard with manual gearbox, air conditioning, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, heated front seats, cooled glove compartment, power accessories, cruise control, steering-wheel-mounted controls, 60/40 split folding rear seats, bluetooth handsfree phone connectivity, a 6-speaker audio system with cd player, satellite radio capability, auxiliary jack and ipod/usb port; hyundai's blue link telematics system, front fog lights, rear window wiper, rear spoiler, hood insulator and 16-inch alloy wheels. Elantra gt models equipped with the style package 21,145) get leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a power driver's seat with power lumbar, aluminum pedals, a driver's side auto-up window, panoramic sunroof, sport-tuned suspension, side mirrors with integrated turn signals and 17-inch alloy wheels. The elantra gt with the tech package 23,495) includes navigation, dual automatic climate control, pushbutton start, a rearview camera and automatic headlights. The automatic transmission is optional 1,000).  safety features on all models include front, front-side and side-curtain airbags, and electronic stability control with vehicle stability control, antilock brakes, brake assist, and traction control. Gt models get a standard driver's knee airbag. The optional rearview camera improves safety by helping the driver spot children and pedestrians when backing up. walkaroundthe hyundai elantra sedan looks striking with crisp, edgy styling. Most of the rest of the class looks dated by comparison. Viewed from the front, the hexagonal grille presents a more sinister grin than that of the mazda 3. The headlight housings wrap into the fenders, the trailing edge back as far as the centerline of the front wheels. The tail lights are long, wavy wraparound fixtures echoing the curves that lead in to the rear bumper and promote airflow to help keep the lights clean; on a dirty road surface the license plate should be the first part shrouded in muck.  the elantra coupe has a sleeker, wedgier shape, without infringing too much on genesis coupe territory. In front, the wide-mouth hexagonal grille is framed by more swept-back headlamps, while the side view reveals more angular a- and c-pillars. Because the coupe is still decently sized, its doors are awfully long, which is most noticeable when getting in and out in tight parking quarters. In back, the integrated spoiler, wraparound taillights and dual ch. 2013 chevrolet cruze review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Solid, american-built compact car. introductionthe chevrolet cruze is an excellent choice among compact sedans. Inside, it has a roomy interior with attractive, quality materials, and it has a big trunk. It's an attractive car with relatively conservative, angular styling. Standard on all upper-level models, including the 2013 cruze ltz and 2013 cruze eco, mylink includes voice recognition technology, bluetooth streaming audio, and support for pandora and gracenote. Two new audio systems also appear on the 2013 chevrolet cruze, as well as new options and packages. An optional enhanced safety package for the 2013 cruze lt features a blind spot alert system, rear cross traffic alert and rear park assist.  launched as a 2011 model, the cruze is a front-wheel-drive compact sedan developed jointly by gm tech centers in asia, europe and the united states to compete with the stylish hyundai elantra, sporty mazda3, and affordable kia forte, as well as the sales-leading compacts, the honda civic, ford focus and toyota corolla.  the styling is conservative, though it's a well-designed, handsome car. The base cruze ls gets a 1. 8-liter inline-4 that makes 138 horsepower and 125 pound-feet of torque. There's a choice of 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic.  fuel economy is very good from the turbocharged 1. 4-liter, at 26/38 mpg with both transmissions. Cruze eco rates an impressive 28/42 mpg with the manual transmission and 26/39 mpg with the automatic. Fuel economy for the 2013 chevrolet cruze with the base 1. 8-liter engine is an epa-rated 25/36 mpg city/highway with manual transmission and 22/35 mpg with the automatic.  cruze eco's high fuel economy rating is thanks in part to its aerodynamic features, including grille vanes that close at highway speeds, which help it slip through the air more easily. It also weighs about 200 pounds less than other cruze models. Efficiency comes with a price, however, as the cruze eco sacrifices performance in the form of slower acceleration, longer stopping distances, and poorer handling compared to the less fuel-friendly cruze models.  ride quality is outstanding, and we found the cruze handles exceptionally well. Its steering is powered by electricity to save fuel. Underway, the steering feels sharp, with decent feel. We enjoyed driving it.  cruze comes well-equipped with premium features such as a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. On all trims but the base, the wheels are made of alloy, and are not only lighter than steel, but quieter. While the cruze starts a segment-appropriate $17,130, a loaded, top-of-the-line ltz will crack the $26,000 barrier. True, it comes swathed in leather and loaded with technology, but for that kind of money, the alternatives include larger, very nicely equipped midsize sedans. Standard features include air conditioning, power windows/door locks/mirrors, remote keyless entry, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel with audio controls, six-way manually adjustable driver's seat, 60/40-split folding rear seat, a six-speaker audio system with cd player, bluetooth phone connectivity, an auxiliary jack, usb port and satellite radio capability. The standard wheels are 16-inch steel.  cruise 1lt 18,560) is powered by the turbocharged 1. 4-liter engine and comes standard with the 6-speed manual. Additional features include leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, body-color power side mirrors and 16-inch alloy wheels. It's powered by the 1. 4-liter turbocharged engine and is nearly 200 pounds lighter than other cruze models, with aerodynamic aids that make in slipperier through the air and a smaller gas tank, among other minor changes that save weight. Standard features include air conditioning, cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 7-inch touchscreen display with chevrolet mylink system and 17-inch alloy wheels with low-rolling-resistance tires.  safety features on all models include stability control, antilock brakes, full-length side curtain airbags, front knee airbags and front and rear side impact airbags. Cruze ls, 1lt and eco models use a front-disc/rear-drum brake setup. Also standard is onstar, which includes automatic crash notification, on-demand roadside assistance, remote door unlocking and stolen vehicle assistance. Blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic alert are optional for all cruzes except the ls. The 2013 chevrolet cruze gets a top five-star safety rating in government crash testing, and a top score of good from the insurance institute for highway safety. walkaroundthe styling of the chevrolet cruze is handsome and nicely proportioned.  the cruze is large, as compact cars go. Measuring 181. 0 inches bumper-to-bumper, on a wheelbase of 105. 7 inches, the cruze is slightly larger than most of its competitors, including the honda civic, toyota corolla and ford focus.  cruze is more angular than other recent chevrolet sedans, including the popular malibu. Its front end mimics the volt plug-in sedan with a prominent chevrolet bowtie logo. The headlight housings are large, sweeping upward and around the front edges of the car.  the roofline arcs subtly from its steeply raked windshield through fast-sloping rear pillars, creating a generally sporty profile. Its wheels are pushed out to the corners of the car, with minimal overhang. No, this compact sedan doesn't break new ground or wow with its curves. But it's tidy and quite confidant looking, and the package generates a feeling of quality and solidity. Wheels range from 16-inch steel with plastic covers on the base ls to spoked 18-inch alloys with low-profile tires on the loaded ltz.  the cruze eco is a slightly different beast from the other cruze models, because it's designed to be chevrolet's conventional-engine fuel economy leader. The differences start with 42 steps intended to trim weight, right down the size and location of welds in the body. As a result, the eco tips the scales at 3009 pounds, or 214 pounds less than the comparably equipped mid-level cruze lt. Cruze eco adds a host of aerodynamic tweaks, including some adapted from the chevrolet volt. These start with active grille shutters that close at higher speeds, blocking much of the grille surface when the cooling demands of the engine allow it, and smoothing air flow over the front of the car. The eco also sports a lower front air-dam extension, plastic panels that cover large portions of the underbody and a carefully crafted rear spoiler. It's finished with low-rolling-resistance tires on specially designed rims. That means a bit less braking performance or grip through the corners, but it also means less friction when the eco is cruising along for better fuel economy. interiorthe chevrolet cruze is roomy inside, with ample dimensions in most directions. The cabin is finished nicely with quality materials. Sound deadening measures result in quiet operation. Overall, the cruze cabin delivers an excellent balance of quality, coziness and space to breathe.  cruze is near the top of the class for the look, fit and feel of the materials inside. The seams join with tighter tolerances than those in many other cars, including some of those a class or two above. The textiles and plastics are rich, appealing and nicely grained, and the metallic trim looks good. The fabric used for the door inserts matches that used on the seat cushions, and it flows from the doors across the bottom of the dash. It's unique, and visually inviting.  the leather upholstery that's optional is thick, yet supple, and stretched tightly over the seats. The headliner is form fit with a soft, sturdy knit material, and it's only the outer layer of five in the roof's insulation. About the only thing not up to snuff is some hard plastic at the bottom of the door pillars, and while no one will look at it much, it's stands out as sub-par because everything else is so nice. The front-seat adjustments in the cruze allow occupants to find the right spot quickly and easily. The optional power controls for the driver are just as easy to use, and the tilting seat bottom has more range Power Windows✔ Anti-lock Brakes✔ Heated Seats✔ Climate Control✔ Cruise Control✔ Bluetooth✔ Air Conditioning✔ CD Player✔ Alloy Wheels

2010 hyundai santa fe review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. It's a good choice for dealing with urban and suburban traffic, taking the family on a vacation, or hauling random stuff from one spot to another.  the 2010 santa fe gets fresh styling, new engines, and the latest navigation technology.  the santa fe is what is known as a crossover utility vehicle (cuv), meaning it is built with unibody construction, instead of having the body-on-frame structure of a traditional truck or larger suv. Compared to a truck-based suv, a crossover is generally lighter, smoother riding, more responsive, and delivers better fuel economy.  the santa fe is an attractive vehicle with a sleek shape to its roomy configuration. It is available with front-wheel drive, or all-wheel drive for those who might need more traction.  there are significant enhancements to the santa fe for 2010. The former up-level 3. 3-liter v6 has been replaced by a new 3. 5-liter v6 that weighs less, develops a lot more power, is smoother, and returns better fuel economy. In addition, the automatic transmission for each engine has six speeds, which contributes to the improved fuel economy numbers.  other changes for 2010 include exterior and appearance upgrades to the wheels, taillights and foglamps, bumpers and body-side moldings, and the grille. Inside, there have been refinements to the leather and cloth seating surfaces, an eco indicator (which lights up to indicate efficient driving habits) is standard on automatic-transmission models, there is touch-screen navigation with rear-view camera and xm navtraffic, the side-curtain airbags have roll-over sensors, the limited trim level has a standard cleanair ionizer, and bluetooth and steering-wheel audio controls are standard on all models.  the santa fe also delivers on safety, with six airbags and standard anti-lock brakes, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, electronic stability control, and traction control.  hyundai vehicles are proving to have commendable levels of reliability and quality, and the santa fe is a viable alternative to crossover utility vehicles from other manufacturers. Finally, it's manufactured in montgomery, alabama. lineupthe 2010 hyundai santa fe is offered in three trim levels: gls, se, and limited. The gls is available with a six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive 21,695), a six-speed automatic and front-wheel drive 22,995), or the six-speed automatic and all-wheel drive 24,695). The gls is well equipped with air conditioning, cloth upholstery, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, am/fm/cd/xm/mp3 audio system with six speakers, xm satellite radio, trip computer, power and heated side mirrors, power windows, power door locks, remote keyless entry, and 17-inch alloy wheels with p235/65r17 tires. The premium package 3,450) is available only with the automatic transmission and adds a power tilt-and-slide sunroof, navigation with a 6. 5-inch touch screen, premium audio system, rearview camera, automatic headlights, and roof-rack cross rails.  the se with front-wheel drive 25,995) has the 3. 5-liter dohc v6; it is rated at 276 horsepower at 6300 rpm and 248 pound-feet of torque at 5000 rpm and is available only with the six-speed automatic transmission. In addition to the equipment found on the gls, the se adds cloth and leather seating surfaces, electrochromic auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass, front fog lights, leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, windshield wiper deicer, automatic headlights, driver seat power lumbar adjustment, a rear spoiler, and 18-inch alloy wheels with p235/60r18 tires. The premium package for the se 3,200) adds the sunroof, navigation, rear-view camera, and premium audio system. The limited is also available with the v6 engine and front-wheel drive 28,595) and the v6 engine with all-wheel drive 30,295). The premium package 2,250) adds navigation, rear-view camera, and the premium audio system.  all santa fe models come with hyundai's bumper-to-bumper warranty of five years/60,000 miles, plus a powertrain warranty of 10 years/100,000 miles.  safety features that come standard on all models include dual front airbags, front seat side-impact airbags (for torso protection), side-curtain airbags (for head protection) and active front head restraints. Active safety features include antilock brakes with brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution, electronic stability control, traction control, and a tire-pressure monitoring system. walkaroundwith its relatively long wheelbase and short overhangs, the santa fe has more the profile of a sporty station wagon than that of a traditional body-on-frame suv. The most noticeable attribute of the santa fe's front end is the complete absence of a bumper. Instead the front valence curves around from beneath the body to encompass the large grille and wrap-around headlights. The hood slopes up toward the raked windshield, and the wedge shape continues along the lower edges of the side windows that sweep up dramatically toward the tailgate.  even the rear has distinctively curved lines, with high taillight clusters that are partially mounted on the main body and the tailgate. The easy-to-see and easy-to-grab tailgate handle is handy and convenient.  the new wheels for 2010 are a five-spoke design, and the other exterior enhancements give the santa fe a look that says it might cost more than its actual price. The roof rack is also well integrated into the whole. interiorpleasing is the best way to describe the interior of the hyundai santa fe because it's trimmed in modern plastics with a soft-touch feel. All models feature blue accent lighting at night to illuminate the instruments, switches and the edges of the front cupholders. Even the base gls has nice luxury touches.  the gauges are mounted in a large instrument pod in front of the steering wheel. The radio and climate controls are well located in a center stack that is mounted high in the dashboard for easy reach and observation while driving.  according to hyundai's measurements, headroom and legroom in the santa fe is more than just competitive with other vehicles in its class, thanks to a uniquely designed unibody that is not based on an existing car platform. That allowed the engineers to maximize interior space.  fold down the second row of seats and there is 78. 2 cubic feet of storage space. Although the santa fe is one of smallest midsize suvs in exterior dimensions it is far from being the smallest inside, a tribute to its space-efficient design.  the air vents for the second row of seats are mounted in the b-pillar, which is much more effective than being mounted down low behind the center console, as in many vehicles. driving impressionnobody can really expect an suv, even one built using a stiff unibody, to handle as well as a sedan. However, the hyundai santa fe comes mighty close. It has continuously variable valve timing on both the intake and exhaust valves, and a variable intake system that enhances engine breathing, and, as a result of these advanced technologies, delivers both better performance and superior fuel economy than the 2. 7-liter v6 it replaces. It also has the continuously variable valve timing on both intake and exhaust, and a three-step variable intake system that enhances engine breathing and efficiency at both low and high engine speeds. The benefit is felt in both off-the-line acceleration and in passing performance. In addition, it also delivers better fuel economy than the previous 3. 3-liter v6. Both these engines are big improvements and really enhance the viability of the santa fe in its competitive market segment.  the six-speed automatic transmission features shiftronic, which allows manual control of the gear selection, and it has an overdrive lock-up torque converter for improved highway fuel economy.  we drove a santa fe with all-wheel drive. It's electronically controlled and automatically sends power to the wheels with the best traction. For really slippery or off-road conditions, there is a driver-selectable all-wheel-drive lock that p. 2009 cadillac cts review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. America's best sports sedan. introductionanyone who doubts gm can build a good car should drive a cadillac cts. In style, performance and technology, the cadillac cts is an american sports sedan that can go toe-to-toe with the best the rest of the world has to offer, including the bmw 5 series, mercedes-benz c-class, lexus gs, infiniti g35 and audi a4. Available all-wheel drive makes the cts a good foul weather car.  and the new high-performance cadillac cts-v can compete with the best high-performance sports sedans in the world at a much lower cost.  fresh from being completely redesigned and re-engineered for the 2008 model year, the cts boasts responsive handling and excellent high-speed stability, yet it's smooth and quiet around town or cruising on the highway. The ride quality strikes a perfect balance between smoothness and handling. The steering is accurate, with good feel and a nice, weighty demeanor. The car feels solidly put together and quiet. Inside is an attractive cabin trimmed with nice materials with an airy, open feel. Everything is easy to operate. Simply stated, the cadillac cts is a very enjoyable car.  the cts and cts-v feature sophisticated suspension systems developed, among other places, at the world-famous nurburgring race track in germany. Called the nordschleife, the 14-mile northern loop of what was the old nurburgring circuit is considered the toughest, most dangerous, most demanding purpose-built race track in the world. To prepare for this lap john heinricy from gm's performance division simply shifted the automatic transmission into drive and let it do its thing.  the cadillac cts comes with two versions of a 3. 6-liter v6 engine, one with conventional fuel injection rated at 263 horsepower, another with direct injection rated at 304 horsepower. The cts is available with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic.  the cts uses rear-wheel drive, best for performance sedans, but it's also available with all-wheel drive. The awd uses an active transfer case that normally applies 40 percent of the power to the front wheels, 60 percent to the rear, but in slippery conditions can apply all of the torque to either axle. A limited-slip differential is also available.  the cts-v has a supercharged 6. 2-liter v8 that makes 556 horsepower at 6100 rpm and 551 pound-feet of torque at 3800 rpm; it is available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic, but in rear-drive form only. The cts-v is a genuinely fast car. Cadillac says the cts-v is capable of 191 mph and can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3. 9 seconds. We found the cts-v to be one fast ride at infineon raceway in sonoma, california, nearly as fast as a sprint cup car. It rides on the firmer side, like a european luxury sports sedan. lineupthe 2009 cadillac cts comes with a 263-hp v6 engine 36,560) or a 304-hp direct injection v6 37,560). The cts-v also has distinctive exterior details, including a mesh grille and appropriate badging, to make it stand apart from the normal cts. The cts looks clean, elegant and modern, but the cts-v, with its few changes, takes on a more assertive appearance.  safety features that come standard on all models include front, side and side-curtain airbags, abs and stabilitrak electronic stability control and traction control. Optional all-wheel drive improves safety further. walkaroundthe eggcrate grille of the cadillac cts fits with the family look of the dts, sts, and escalade, and provides a generous supply of incoming air for the engine, brake and transmission cooling functions. The large lighting units at the front and rear make good use of light-emitting-diode, or led, technology: lots of light and lots of style for little electrical load.  the taillights, rear quarter panels and decklid also fit the cadillac theme, and below the rear bumper are exposed dual exhaust tips. Altogether, this is a great looking car, with adventurous lines everywhere, especially in the gracefully sloping rear roof section.  the cts-v is distinguished by functional features. The power dome hood, distinctive wheel and tire package, and the bold mesh grille suggest an intent for serious driving. The larger mesh grill is for improved airflow. The power dome hood is as small as they could make it. Big brake ducts help cool the big two-piece brembo calipers. The chmsl center brake light reduces rear lift. The dual exhaust provides better performance. interiorthe theme of the cts interior is black and brushed metal and chrome. It's very contemporary, very modern, very attractive and very space efficient. The dashboard is fairly low and away from the front seats, which gives an airy and open feel to the car. The instrument package is complete, easy to read, and graphically pretty.  all-in-all, the interior of the cts is a very nice to sit and take a drive. The driver is held in, yet comfortably, to properly operate the car, and the passengers enjoy a feeling of ease, confidence and luxury. Using the navigation screen, it's easy to switch back and forth between the three broadcast and three stored-music formats by simply touching the screen, and the blue display is large enough to be read from the back seat. We think it's one of the best overall, most fun-to-use sound systems we've ever enjoyed in a car. Many other luxury cars have systems that are difficult or fussy to operate.  the cts-v has a sportier cabin with a steering wheel with a thicker rim available in suede. The dead pedal, allowing the driver to brace the left leg, is optimized for racing. A recaro option is available with 14-way adjustable seats, including bolsters that can be pumped up for hard driving then deflated for cruising. driving impressionthe cadillac cts is a responsive sports sedan with excellent handling and high-speed stability, yet it's smooth and quiet when cruising.  the cts comes with two versions of a 3. 6-liter v6 engine, one with conventional fuel injection, rated at 263 horsepower at 6400 rpm and 253 pound-feet of torque at 3100 rpm, and the second, with direct injection, rated at 304 horsepower at 6400 rpm and 273 pound-feet of torque at 5200 rpm. Either is available with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, and with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.  the difference in performance, feel and sound between the two v6 engines is amazing. The standard engine works well, but the direct injection engine just has more of everything; more power, more torque, more response, more driving enjoyment, and at little or no penalty in fuel efficiency. The direct injection is a more efficient system. It's also extremely responsive. We liked both of them.  underneath all the attractive sheetmetal is a suspension system with a forward-mounted power rack-and-pinion steering.
