2013 hyundai sonata review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Sonata delivers excellent quality in all of its iterations, with great manners, fuel efficiency and features, all at a competitive price. Sonata was completely redesigned for the 2011 model year.  the 2013 hyundai sonata gets an updated navigation system and slight adjustments to the standard feature list, depending on the model. Many other critics have praised sonata's look, however, and if it's confused with any other sedan, it's more likely to be mistaken for a lexus or some other luxury model than for another mainstream mid-size.  inside, features, materials and fit and finish are among the best in the class, especially in build quality and tolerances.  the 2013 sonata lineup starts with the sonata gls, which retails for about $21,000 and comes with a full complement of power features, cruise control, bluetooth connectivity and more power than other cars in its class. Another $825 adds heated front seats, automatic light control, fog lights and 16 inch alloy wheels. The 2. 0t, as hyundai calls it, satisfies america's perceived need for speed with 274 horsepower and excellent acceleration on regular-grade gas. While such an occurrence will be rare in the real world, the hybrid's blended gas-electric operation still improves fuel economy, with higher mileage ratings than similar hybrids from honda and toyota. Moreover, while the other hybrids in this class have a gearless, continuously variable transmission, the sonata hybrid gets the same 6-speed automatic as the other sonata models. The gls is equipped with air conditioning, a full complement of power features, 60/40 split-folding rear seat and a six-speaker, 104-watt audio system with single cd and satellite radio with a three-month subscription. The standard wheels are 16-inch steel with plastic covers. The gls popular package 825) adds a power driver seat with manual lumbar adjustment, faux leather door panels (in place of the base molded, hard plastic), heated front seats, automatic light control, fog lights and 16 inch alloy wheels.  sonata se 23,435) is the sporty model, with a firmer suspension, a manual shift feature with wheel mounted paddle shifters and 18-inch alloy wheels. It comes standard with the contents of the popular package, as well as leather trimmed steering wheel, shift knob and seat bolsters, and proximity key with push-button start. Limited comes standard with dual zone automatic climate control, rear console mounted vents, full leather seats, the 360-watt audio, heated front and rear seats, turn signal indicators in the outside mirrors, piano black or woodgrain interior trim accents, sunroof, auto dimming rearview mirror with compass and 17-inch aluminum wheels. The limited navigation package 2,900) adds navigation, rearview camera, a panoramic sunroof and hyundai's top level infinity audio system.  sonata hybrid is powered by a more fuel efficient 166-horspower version of the 2. 4-liter engine and a 40-horsepower electric motor. Epa mileage ratings improve, and hyundai claims the hybrid can run at speeds up to 62 mph on electric power alone. Hybrid features and options essentially mirror those of the se model.  beyond the packages, options are limited to dealer-installed features such as remote start 350), rear spoiler 250) and rearview mirror with homelink garage-door control 250).  safety features standard on all models include front-impact airbags, driver and front passenger side impact airbags, front and rear seat head-protection curtains, anti-lock brakes (abs) with electronic brake-force distribution (ebd) and brake assist, electronic stability control, active front-seat head restraints and a tire-pressure monitor. Hyundai's blue link crash-reporting telematics system comes standard, too, with a temporary subscription to basic services. The similarity says something about the styling department's intentions with hyundai's most popular sedan.  the sonata is marketed as a mid-size, but its exterior dimensions push the larger limit compared to the toyota camry, honda accord and ford fusion. Indeed, measured by total enclosed space, the sonata sneaks in at the bottom of the government's large-sedan class.  hyundai's designers throw around phrases like 'fluidic sculpture design language' and 'monoform side profile' in describing the sonata's styling. They say their goal was a car that won't be mistaken for any other. It's just that the sonata is not necessarily unique, and it's not as clean or sleek as the kia optima sedan, which shares its basic structure.  the front end on most sonata models has a pinched nose look echoing the hyundai genesis coupe. Sculpted creases flow forward and inward from the a-pillars (the windshield's side frames), drawing the eye to the grin like grille and outsized hyundai logo. Headlight housings start at the outer edges of the grille and wrap around the front fenders beyond the leading arch of the wheelwell, visually minimizing the front overhang. The lower fascia sports a wide mouth air intake flanked by squinting recesses for fog lights. The grille is body colored on the base gls, and dark chrome on the se and limited.  the hybrid's front end shows much of the same shapes and sculpting, but gets an entirely different and quite striking grille treatment, with an oversized, hexagonal opening split by an oversized horizontal bar. Hyundai wants everyone to know that this sonata is something special. The hybrid's headlights make a similar statement, highlighted with a string of led running lights laced around the projector beam lenses.  the side view of the sonata shows three sharply defined character lines below the roof. The roof itself tracks though a severely raked windshield and rear window and into a short trunk lid, minimizing the car's visual mass. The highlight is a chrome strip that starts at the headlight housing and runs along the car's beltline (where the side windows meet the door panels) all the way to the rearmost tip of the rear quarter glass. Below this is a knife edge crease sweeping up from the front quarter panel through the door handles, finishing as an eyebrow for the taillight housings.  another knife edge crease cuts across the bottom of the doors just above the rocker panels, before leapfrogging the rear wheelwells to melt into the rear bumper. On the hybrid, a chrome strip accents this crease. All three tire sizes fill perfectly circular wheelwells, giving the sonata a balanced front to rear proportion.  the rear view might be sonata's cleanest and best. It's an elegant look, with understated taillights, a minimalist chrome bar topping the license plate indent and a lower bumper element that mirrors the front fascia

2010 ford escape review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. A terrific compact suv. introductionthe ford escape looks like a little truck among small suvs. Its styling reminds us of ford's larger, truck-based sport utility vehicles. The escape's ride height and seating position are a bit higher than competitors such as the honda cr-v, and it can tow up to 3,500 pounds, which is substantially more than most other vehicles in the class.  yet the ford escape still delivers the advantages of unit-body, car-based competitors such as the honda cr-v. All variants, including the v6 and escape hybrid, deliver some of the best epa mileage ratings in the class. All models are offered with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.  for the most part, the hybrid drives just like a conventional gas-only escape. It's a well-executed package. Folding the rear seats opens a good sized cargo area with a flat floor, and space behind the seat surpasses that in the trunk of a typical sedan. There are lots of interior storage spaces, the finish is upscale and pleasing, and feature function and switches are among the best.  escape was redesigned for 2008. For 2010, changes are minor. An integrated blind spot mirror, mykey programmable vehicle key, rear view camera system, and active park assist are now available, and the escape also features hands-free sync with traffic, directions & information. All the features improve safety and reduce driver distractions.  the ford escape remains one of the more appealing vehicles in its class, regardless of price, and certainly one of the better values. A five-speed manual transmission is standard, and a six-speed automatic 1,210) is optional. The xls comes with cloth upholstery, air conditioning, power windows, mirrors and locks, an am/fm stereo with cd and auxiliary jack, rear window defroster and 16-inch steel wheels.  options for the xls include remote start 345), sync 395), side step bars 345), and a security system 250).  the escape xlt 23,540) and xlt 4wd 25,290) add more standard features, including upgraded cloth upholstery, a power driver's seat, cruise control, privacy glass and 16-inch alloy wheels. A 240-hp, dual overhead cam 3. 0-liter v6 1,000) is optional on the xlt, and includes the six-speed automatic.  options for the xlt include a variety of packages, with the most comprehensive, package 204a 2,230), including a cargo cover, roof rack, wet towel bin, sync, a moonroof, leather, and ambient lighting. There is also premium sound with seven speakers 395), a dual-headrest dvd entertainment system 1,995), sport appearance package 895), 17-inch alloy wheels 695), and towing 345).  the escape limited 25,270) and limited 4wd 27,020) come standard with the v6 and automatic, plus leather seating, a six-cd changer and automatic headlights.  options for the limited include package 302a 2,250), consisting of the moonroof, premium audio system, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, reverse-sensing system, rear-view camera, and universal garage-door opener; and navigation with the premium sound 1,995).  the escape hybrid is available in two trim levels, the base version 29,750) and the base with 4wd 31,500); and the hybrid limited 32,260) and hybrid limited 4wd 34,010). The hybrid limited versions are equipped similarly to the limited models, but add the hybrid powertrain. Unlike some mild hybrid suvs, the escape hybrid can run on 100 percent electric power up to about 25 mph.  safety features include front- and side-impact airbags for front occupants and curtain-type head protection airbags for all outboard seats. The side curtains can remain inflated for several seconds in the event of a rollover, and are designed to slide between the side glass and occupants if the people are oddly seated or resting heads against a window. For starters, the escape sits a bit higher than many competitors, and the high profile is enhanced by its design.  the grille looks like it was designed for a truck. The headlights are essentially connected to the grille, and shaped to create a family resemblance with ford's edge crossover suv. Yet the grille itself is tall and flat and stacked right on top of a skid plate-type fascia that flows under the bumper. The escape's beltline, or the crease that runs just under the windows, is high, too, and its roof pillars are blacked out. The taillights have a clear band that wraps around the rear corners. The lower bumpers and rocker panels are now painted to match the body on all models, rather than molded in a matte finish. In total, the effect is cleaner and more polished than previous models, and it's all quite handsome.  the side mirrors are large, but their shape generates little noise as air speeds over them. The roof, too, is designed to reduce interior noise. Recessed channels running its length are intended to move air more quietly over the surface. Horizontal ribs underneath the panel add structure, which limits flex in the metal and reduces booming noise inside at high speeds.  we're fond of a couple of features in back of the escape. A new step pad on the bumper provides secure footing for anyone who steps up to put something on the roof rack, and the two-piece tailgate is handy. The rear glass can be popped open with the key fob, so dropping small items like a gym bag into the cargo area is much easier than it might be with some competitors, which require hefting the entire gate upward. interiorthis is one of ford's best interiors in terms of the look and feel of materials used. It looked like the lacquered finish on a fine piano. The satiny black or silver used in lower trim levels isn't bad, either. Yet the highlight is a woven-look, rubberized trim on the dash and console. It looks sporty and suited to a more expensive car.  the escape features upholstery cloth made from 100-percent recycled material. Overall, though, the seats are smaller than those in a larger sport utility. Drivers with big frames might find them small. There's not an abundance of side bolstering, but that makes it easier to slide into the seats, and there's enough to keep occupants solidly in place during the type of driving a typical escape owner is likely to undertake.  the gauges are clustered in a shaded binnacle that can be absorbed in a glance: tachometer left, speedometer right, with fuel and coolant temperature in the middle, along with an easy-to-read trip- and systems-info display. We absolutely loved this, because it includes a menu that allows the driver to easily cycle through and change features such as headlight-off delay and auto-locking.  the gauges and switches feature ford's new signature backlighting style, which the company calls ice blue. No gripe here, as the bluish white is crisper and brighter than conventional green-yellow or orange lighting. The problem is the script on the gauges, and particularly the speedometer. The big vents at the ends move lots of air, and there are two more in the middle near the top of the center stack. These can be aimed to avoid blasting the driver’s hands or face with a rush of air. At the very top sits a neat display that shows compass heading, date and time, exterior temperature and, on models so equipped, the two interior temp settings.  when it comes to placement and function of switches, the escape is first rate, and examples are easy to find. When the driver rests his or her left for.

2012 kia sorento review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Improved efficiency from new fuel injected engine. introductionthe kia sorento is a fully equipped midsize crossover suv that's smooth and quiet, with responsive handling. All-wheel drive is available for sure-footed traction in wintry conditions. The first-generation 2003-2009 sorento was a truck-based, go-anywhere sport-utility, but it was completely re-engineered with a totally new structure for 2011. The suspension is nicely tuned to muffle rough pavement. It delivers adequate performance and adequate fuel economy, achieving an epa-estimated 21/27 mpg city/highway with awd. The top-line v6 delivers spirited performance, putting the sorento at or near the front of its class, although epa estimates drop to 18/24 mpg with awd.  the exterior styling of the kia sorento is crisp, freshly contemporary. Looking over its uniformly accurate body-panel gaps suggests kia is paying close attention to the industry's ever-higher build-quality standards.  2012 kia sorento ex models come with a new voice-activated infotainment system called uvo based on the microsoft windows embedded automotive platform. 2012 sorento models with cloth upholstery come standard with new yes essentials fabrics, which provide anti-bacterial, anti-soil, and anti-static properties. A deluxe sorento sx variant was added late in the 2011 model year and continues into 2012. The manual-shift base model has been discontinued for 2012. The interior features quality materials, attractive design themes and handsome color schemes. To keep the front-row proprietors amused, the well appointed sorento features an am/fm/satellite/cd/mp3 (or add available high-power 10-speaker infinity audio), bluetooth connectivity, usb audio input jacks, steering wheel-mounted audio controls. Built in the united states, the sorento is the first kia model to sell more than 100,000 units in a single year. lineupthe 2012 kia sorento comes in lx, ex, and sx trims. The lx and ex offer the v6 as an option. All-wheel drive is available with all three trims, and includes a locking center differential. All models come with a 6-speed automatic transmission.  sorento lx 23,150) and lx awd 25,350) come with yes essentials fabric upholstery, air conditioning, am/fm/cd/mp3 audio with sirius satellite radio, auxiliary and usb audio input jacks, bluetooth connectivity, tilt and telescope steering wheel, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, trip computer, body-color heated outside mirrors with turn signal indicators, auto up and down driver's window, power locks with remote keyless entry, illuminated visor mirror, 60/40 split folding rear seat, rear map pockets, second-row armrest with cupholder, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The convenience package for lx 1,650) upgrades to the 191-hp engine, and adds roof rails, rear parking sonar, auto-dimming inside mirror with rear-view camera display, heated front seats, and fog lamps. A similar package for lx awd 1,150) adds the same conveniences but sticks with the base engine. Also available is the sorento lx v6 24,950) and lx v6 awd 26,650).  sorento ex 25,950) and ex awd 27,650) upgrade to automatic dual-zone climate control with ionized air purification, fabric/leatherette seats, eight-way power driver seat with lumbar controls, foglights, automatic headlights, interior accent lights, rear spoiler, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, push-button start, 18-inch alloy wheels, uvo voice-activated infotainment system, roof rails, and the reversing sonar and camera. The ex premium plus package 3,800) upgrades to real leather seats for the first two rows, heated front seats, memory driver's seat and outside mirrors, navigation system with real-time traffic, 550-watt infinity premium surround-sound with 10 speakers, power front passenger seat, split-folding 50/50 third-row seat, auto-dimming rearview mirror with homelink, power-folding side mirrors, and 18-inch chrome wheels.  sorento ex v6 27,950) and ex v6 4wd 29,650) make the third-row seat and rear air conditioning standard. The sx also sports a more distinctive external appearance, with deeper, body-color bumpers accented in stainless steel; body-color side sills; unique foglight design; chrome roof rails; chrome tailpipe finisher; led taillights; and mirror-finish alloy wheels. To this list the sx premium package 1,500) adds the panoramic sunroof.  an optional third-row seat 800) is available for models that don't come with one. Roof racks, cargo mats and organizers, side steps, and floor mats are available as dealer-installed accessories.  safety features include the mandated dual front airbags plus side-curtain airbags for head protection and front-seat side-impact airbags for torso protection. Active safety features that come standard include anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, electronic brake-force distribution, hill-start assist control, downhill brake control. Optional safety features include rearview camera, all-wheel drive. walkaroundthe kia sorento looks modern, sleek, clean as a whistle. It has a forward-lunging stance, the result of a low and compact nose, followed by long, dynamically rising lines to rearward. Kia has been particularly successful at executing the current high-grille look (dictated by body-integral front bumpers) without causing the nose to seem high and awkward.  the grille is flanked on both sides by sly-looking upper complexes for headlights and turn signals. Lower complexes contain foglights and are finished in matte-black to match the grille mesh.  a dark plastic faux skidplate wraps up from below the vehicle to about halfway up the foglight nacelles on ls and ex models.  the sx dispenses with this design element by stretching the lower air opening and the body-color part of the bumper down closer to ground level. A smaller, stainless steel skidplate defines the bottom of the enlarged lower grille on the sx, and sx foglights are five-sided inste.

2007 gmc yukon review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. All-new models are among the best of the full-size suvs. introductionthere have been better times for full-size sport utility vehicles. Faced with rising gas prices, eco-protests and nervous insurance underwriters, some shoppers have turned elsewhere in their search for family-size transport.  but for others, nothing can take the place of a large, powerful and roomy suv, especially those who need to tow and haul. It's for these faithful that gmc intends the mostly all-new 2007 yukon and yukon denali.  inside, everything's new. Seats are lighter, more comfortable. The dash is seriously simplified, with major reductions in confusing knobs, buttons and displays. The interior styling is refreshingly elegant, hinting at aspirations for entry-luxury status.  an equally new exterior wraps around that delightful interior. The re-styled front end remains true to the gmc trademark shapes and geometric but with a thoroughly modern flavor. Sides shorn of overbearing cladding add lightness to an otherwise fairly substantial presence. Optional, 20-inch polished wheels add a touch of high fashion trendiness.  the 2007 yukon is three inches longer than last year's model, nearly all of which goes to added front seat legroom and cargo area, but the wheelbase is the same length.  the popular 5. 3-liter v8 engine gets a moderate boost in power and, perhaps more important, an ingenious system that shuts down half the cylinders under light load, improving fuel economy by one or two miles per gallon. The base 4. 8-liter v8 gets a slight boost in power, too. At the top of the line, the luxurious yukon denali boasts a new 6. 2-liter v8 generating 380 horsepower with a new six-speed automatic.  the yukon seats six to nine passengers and is rated to tow up to 7700 pounds when properly equipped, enough to tow cars, boats and horses. The 4. 8-liter engine is not part of the initial launch, however. Also available is the 5. 3-liter v8 with afm and e85 flex-fuel capability. Standard equipment includes cruise control; multi-zone air conditioning front and rear; am/fm/cd/mp3, eight-speaker stereo; driver information center; the usual powered features, with the outside mirrors heated and foldable; a six-way, power driver's seat; leather-wrapped, tilt steering wheel; cloth upholstery; 40/20/40 split front bench seat with manual recliners; 60/40 split folding second row bench seat; roof rails; locking rear differential; 17-inch, bright aluminum wheels; and three power outlets. In addition to or in place of similar features on the sle, the slt gets automatic climate control; power adjustable pedals; front tow hooks; leather-trimmed, bucket front seats; leather-appointed, 60/40 split, second row bench seat; six-disc cd changer; rear seat audio controls and outputs; programmable remote garage opener; and remote start. There's also a second-tier slt 2wd 40,060) and 4wd 42,860) that add roof rack cross bars; outside mirrors upgraded with integrated turn signals, ground illumination, reverse-tilting and driver-side auto dimming; heated, 12-way power driver and six-way power front passenger seats with two-setting driver side memory; vinyl-covered, 50/50 split, two-passenger, third-row bench seat; and xm satellite radio.  yukons offer extensive lists of options, both free standing and in packages. Popular packages include two navigation systems, one of which incorporates a dvd capability 2145); and the rear seat entertainment system 1295); and the power liftgate 350). The third-row seat comes in two forms: two-passenger and a three-passenger.  options include xm satellite radio 199), power adjustable pedals 120), power sunroof 995), roof rack cross bars 45), power release for the curb-side second row seat 425), heated second-row seats 200), rain-sensing windshield wipers 95), 20-inch wheels 1795), front fog lamps 140), six-disc cd changer stereo upgrade 300), remote starter 175) and retractable cargo cover 70). Standard features over and above those expected include heated first- and second-row seats; auxiliary transmission oil cooler; locking rear differential; power second-row seat release; front-row bucket seats, second-row captain's chairs and removable three-passenger, third-row bench seat; digital 10-speaker premium bose centerpoint surround sound system;. walkarounddesigners can do interesting things with styling cues, and with the 2007 gmc yukon, they've managed to make a vehicle that's larger than its predecessor look smaller, more compact, and definitely more svelte.  stripping off excessive cladding and overly decorative brightwork and ironing out tired body ripples combine to transform the looks of the yukon and yukon denali. Although the 2007 models are nearly three inches longer than their predecessors, the quieter, calmer surface planes diminish the perception of that extended length. Remarkably tight tolerances between body panels invite comparisons with the highest quality imports.  the one-piece, softer-look front end presents a friendlier, more welcoming face but without forfeiting the yukon's presence. Large headlight housings promise good vision. The trademark grille and lower air intake ensure good breathing. A more sharply raked windshield eases movement through the air.  tall, symmetrical side glass fits flush with surrounding body panels. Door handles bridging deep recesses make for easy gripping in all seasons. Squared-off wheel wells carry forward a yukon signature styling cue but, frankly, yearn for larger wheels and more substantial rubber. Save on the yukon denali, that is, which rides on 20-inch, chromed aluminum wheels wearing low profile, blackwall tires.  as inspired as the yukon's overall new look is, the back end is decidedly less so. Then again, a family vehicle that has to accommodate up to nine people and haul their cargo doesn't leave stylists much leeway for creativity. Thus, the broad, mostly flat, almost vertical tailgate in between tall, narrow taillights. The independently hinged rear window is a nice touch, permitting easy loading of grocery bags and such. interiorwhile the exterior design of the new yukon is a great leap forward, the remake of the interior borders on revolutionary. Just by the measure of how many buttons and knobs there aren't, the '07 yukon reflects a radical re-thinking by the people in charge of deciding how occupants will relate to their immediate surroundings.  topping the list is the re-positioning of the dash. In fact, we think it's a friendlier, slicker and more integrated assemblage of gauges, display screens, touch pads and control panels than those in either the range rover or the new mercedes-benz gl450, both priced substantially higher than the yukon models, including the denali. The gauge cluster is more informative, reporting via secondary analog dials powertrain data many others leave to warning lights or bury in scrollable information displays.  the fit between panels and coverings is impressive, with tight tolerances. Leather surfaces feel expensive, if not luxurious. Less impressive is the finish of some of the hard plastic surfaces, which look better than they feel. The headliner is a woven fabric that looks and feels like mouse fur.  the design of the dash gives the driver an expansive view out the windshield, adding to the feeling of being above it all. Visibility is good all around, although the imposing c-pillar (the post between the rear side door and the rear quarter panel,) does nothing to reduce the large side mirrors' blind spot. Along the same lines, the third row seat blocks the lower third of the rear window; folding the third row down eliminates this.  the redesigned seats are refreshing. The seat belts are mounted to the b-pillar, a nice improvement over the awkward seat-mounted belts used on previous models. The design of the new belts should also offer impr. 2011 bmw 3 series review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. What bmw does best. introductionthe bmw 3 series cars are the quintessential bmws. They accelerate, turn and stop with remarkable agility and balance, without seriously compromising comfort or common sense. The 3 series sedans define the term sports sedan and remain an aspirational target for every luxury automaker, from acura to volvo.  the 3 series comprises a range of sedans, coupes, convertibles and wagons, with different engines, and a wide variety of options. All models share mechanical components and similarly compact exterior dimensions. We like the top models, but we also recommend the less-expensive 328i models. They have as much power as most drivers will ever need, and they deliver the same inherent goodness and most of the key features as the 335 models.  for 2011, all 3 series body styles get minor design changes.  for 2011, bmw 335i features a single turbo instead of a twin turbo, and a new performance tuned twin-turbo model called the 335is has been added. The 2011 bmw 335is is available with bmw's dual-clutch automated manual transmission (dct), which was previously only offered on the m3.  the bmw 335d features a new-age diesel engine that's as clean as any of its gasoline counterparts. Despite its improved fuel economy, it retains the sporting character that has long defined the 3 series line. The diesel generates a whopping 425 pound-feet of torque, and at 23 city/36 highway, it delivers the highest epa mileage ratings of any 3 series model. All-wheel drive is available, however, for improved traction in wintry conditions. Bmw sells more manual transmissions in this class than any manufacturer, and that says something about the type of drivers choosing the 3 series. Even the optional automatic transmission is tuned for crisp, sporty shifting. Handling response is sharp and precise, and braking capability is best in class.  bmw 328i models come with bmw's trademark 3. 0-liter straight six, and we found it's more than powerful enough for brisk acceleration and a sinfully good time. The upgrade turbo six in the 335i is one of the most viscerally satisfying engines in production.  exterior dimensions for all 3 series models are relatively compact, making them good cars for crowded city centers. The sports wagon adds substantial cargo space and utility. It's great for couples or families who often bring the dog, though it isn't available with the turbocharged engine. The 328i and 335i convertibles might be the sexiest 3s, with a fully automatic, one-button folding metal hardtop. The firmer sport suspension, optional with other body styles, comes standard on the coupe, and these are the lightest cars in the line. Some competitors offer more room, more power, better mileage or maybe better interiors for less money.  aside from subjective price-value analysis, we think the most noteworthy hitch in the 3 series is the downside of its many electronic gizmos. Vinyl upholstery is standard with leather optional.  the bmw 328i sedan 33,150) is powered by a 230-hp 3. 0-liter inline-6. The 328i xdrive sedan 35,150) adds xdrive permanent all-wheel drive. A 6-speed manual comes standard, and most models are offered with a 6-speed steptronic automatic 1,375). (all new car test drive prices are manufacturer's suggested retail prices, which do not include destination charge and may change at any time without notice.)  the bmw 335i sedan 40,600) and 335i xdrive sedan 42,600) feature a turbocharged version of the 3. 0-liter inline-6, delivering 300 horsepower. Model designations are consistent across the body styles and standard equipment is similar, though coupes and convertibles include a few more features in the base price.  the 3 series convertible features a retracting metal hard top that opens and closes with the touch of a button and comes in 328i 45,000), 335i 51,200) and 335is 58,200) versions.  the 335is coupe and convertible have a twin-turbo engine that makes 320 horsepower. The 335is models have equipment otherwise offered in the m sport package, including the bmw m sport steering wheel, m sport seats, an anthracite headliner, 18-inch wheels, and stiffer engine mounts. The 335is comes standard with the 6-speed manual and is available with a double-clutch 7-speed automated manual transmission 1,575).  options include dakota leather upholstery 1,450); navigation system 2,100), sirius satellite radio hardware 350), logic 7 stereo upgrade 875), active steering 1,550), smartphone integration 150). The cold weather package adds heated seats, heated steering wheel, headlight washers, ski sack, and in the sedan, a split-folding rear seat. The sport package includes sporting suspension calibrations tuned by bmw's m performance division for the sedan, wagon and convertible, more heavily bolstered sport seats, sport steering wheel, shadowline exterior trim, increased top-speed limiter, and a wheel-performance tire upgrade.  safety features include front-impact airbags that deploy at different rates depending on the severity of impact, front passenger side-impact airbags and full-cabin, curtain-type head protection airbags. The convertibles add knee airbags that help keep front passengers from sliding under the seat belts. Active safety features, designed to help the driver avoid collisions, include dynamic stability control and the latest generation antilock brakes. The abs preloads the brake pedal when the driver suddenly lifts off the gas pedal, and includes a feature that lightly sweeps the brake discs dry every 1. 5 seconds when it's raining. walkaroundfor 2011, all 3 series models get some minor styling changes.  2011 3 series coupes and convertibles are an inch longer in than the 2010 versions due to revisions to the front bumper and lower fascia. The twin-kidney grille is wider, the headlights add the led corona rings we become accustomed to seeing on the 5 series and other bmws, and there are now led brows above the headlights.  2011 3 series sedans and wagons get a bolder front end with a larger air intake, sharper lines on the hood, and more prominent side character lines. The headlights are reshaped for 2011. Models with xenon high-intensity discharge headlights now use the round corona rings as daytime running lights. At the rear, leds now adorn the redesigned taillights. The 3 series sedan has a new trunk shape for 2011, and the track is 0. 6 inch wider.  the new bmw 335is features a modified front end without fog lights to allow more air intake. Along the sides, it gets lower aero skirts. The rear features a unique bumper, black chrome exhaust tips, additional air ducting, and a black lower diffuser. The diffuser's shape helps air flow over the rear axle.  the 3 series sedan, wagon, coupe, and convertible all look different from one another, but they have a family appearance and are immediately recognizable as bmws.  the model line's high-tech theme is visible from the outside. Many models come with adaptive bi-xenon headlights that turn with the steering wheel to aim into a curve. All feature bmw's adaptive brake lights, which are based on the idea that drivers in the cars following a 3 series will know when the 3 is braking hard: the led lights illuminate more intensely, over a larger area, when the driver applies the brakes full-lock or when the abs operates.  all 3 series body styles ride a 108. 7-inch wheelbase, and by every exterior dimension, they're all within two inches of each other. In general, these are the largest 3 series cars ever. Most of the extra width and length translates into more interior space compared to previous generations, particularly in the back seat.  the sedan is the best seller, and perhaps most familiar to the motoring public. The coupe is a bit longer and lower than the sedan, and not as wide. With standard xenon headlamps, its front light clusters are smaller. The coupe's hood looks longer, and it's fashioned with a subtle dome that suggests a powerful engine underneath. The windshield flows into a roofline that's long and curved in a continuous arc, and lower than that on the sedan. With extensive use of plastic composite materials for parts such as the front fenders, the coupes are also the lightest cars in t. 2012 hyundai genesis coupe review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. New styling, new powertrains and a sporty new r-spec model. introductionacclaimed for its smart styling, solid build quality and higher-end features found normally on more expensive marques, the hyundai genesis sedan has been a darling of automotive experts since it hit the u. And consumers seem to agree. New for 2012 are heated rear seats and a lane departure warning system, both included in the optional technology package.  most significantly, the 2012 genesis boasts new, more powerful and more efficient powertrains, including three gasoline direct injection (gdi) engines and hyundai's first proprietary 8-speed automatic transmission.  most 2012 genesis models come with the base 333-horsepower 3. 8-liter v6. The 2012 hyundai r-spec also gets a sport-tuned suspension, steering and transmission along with19-inch alloy wheels and unique headlamp trim.  in keeping true to its passion for drivetrain advancement, hyundai's new 8-speed transmission with manual shifting capability (dubbed shiftronic) was developed fully in-house. More gears, in addition to other features including skip-shift technology, help to reduce emissions and improve fuel economy. The v6-powered genesis is best compared with midsize sedans such as the chrysler 300 and buick lacrosse. Features and performance, however, are on par with luxury models like lexus gs, lincoln mks and cadillac cts. The 5. 0 r-spec proves to be a good contender with the likes of the infiniti m56s, but with a much lower sticker price.  also compelling is hyundai's assurance trade-in value guarantee, which assigns a future value to a vehicle at the time of purchase, based on a 24- to 48-month time frame. This guaranteed value can then be applied to a future hyundai trade-in, as long as it's within the 24- to 48-month period. The technology package 4,000) adds adaptive hid xenon headlights, front and rear park assist systems, lane departure warning system, smart cruise control, an electronic parking brake, upgraded leather upholstery, ventilated driver's seat, heated rear seats, navigation system with 8-inch display and a 17-speaker lexicon audio system with hd radio and 6-disc cd changer.  genesis 4. 6 44,500) includes the features in the technology package plus auto-dimming outside mirrors, chrome lower body side moldings, electro-hydraulic power steering and a wood-trimmed leather steering wheel.  genesis r-spec 46,500) includes 19-inch alloy wheels plus all the features found on the 4. 6 trim. The trim is further differentiated with unique headlamps with dark chrome inserts and r-spec badging inside and out. Fluid body lines and styling cues are reminiscent of higher-end luxury lines, yet remain distinctive.  for 2012, exterior tweaks on the genesis sedan are subtle, but effective. Hyundai jumps on the bandwagon with other luxury car makers by adding integrated led accent lights (a la audi), as well as a revised wraparound headlamp design. A modified front bumper sports a new air intake, while the redesigned front grille incorporates cleaner, straighter lines.  on the sides, a darker trim around windows aims to convey a more upscale feel, while more prominent rocker panels give a slightly more assertive look. New side mirrors are reshaped and now include a power-folding feature and integrated puddle lamps.  in back, wraparound tail lights are more pronounced and the rear bumper features and integrated rear exhaust design, which lends a seamless, attractive appearance. interiorthe cabin of the 2012 hyundai genesis sedan is elegant and tastefully executed. We took a genesis 3. 8 model for a spin in the nevada desert and found the leather seats to be supportive and supple. Other leather trim, such as the wraparound two-tone dash gives the interior just the right touch of luxe. However, the wood grain trim looks more plastic than posh, especially around the doors.  the lcd gauges are bright and sharp, and are pleasing on the eye. Center stack controls are large and easy to read. Curiously, the small compartment between the shift lever and the center stack is dedicated to an ashtray and cigarette lighter, perhaps designed for the asian market, since many u. S.-bound vehicles have long abandoned these (or make them available in a separate smoker's package). Front head- and legroom were more than adequate for drivers and passengers ranging from petite to tall, but in back, the head of one six-foot passenger nearly grazed the headliner while sitting behind the driver. And because the center seat is slightly raised, it's not an option for taller riders. Rear legroom is plentiful, as long as the front seats aren't all the way back.  unlike many of its competitors, the 2012 hyundai genesis doesn't offer folding split rear seats, only a pass-through slot. Trunk space is average for the segment at 15. 9 cubic feet. driving impressionthe 2012 hyundai genesis sedan strikes a good balance between comfortable and responsive. With the genesis 3. 8 tuned to the more luxurious side, it's a good highway cruiser without feeling too billowy. The cabin is remarkably quiet, although rough roads do yield some noise and vibration. Handling in the genesis 3. 8 has the edge over the somewhat boaty chrysler 300 and lexus es. The 8-speed transmission does an admirable job staying efficient while offering up adequate power. Not too long ago, that many gears would have seemed preposterous, but in the days of mandated fuel economy standards, automakers seem keen on ever increasing gear span in. 2010 kia forte koup review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. New stylish and affordable sedan. introductionthe kia forte is a new entry into the compact car field with contenders like honda civic, toyota corolla, nissan sentra, mazda 3, mitsubishi lancer, ford focus, and chevrolet cobalt. Most fuel-efficient, however, is the ex with the fuel economy package, which yields an epa-estimated 27/36 mpg.  most fun to drive is the forte sx equipped with a larger 2. 4-liter engine and five-speed automatic. We found the handling in the sx with its sport-tuned suspension taut. The ride is firm but never harsh. Upholstery is cloth. Air conditioning and a 60/40 split rear seat are optional 1500), while power windows, door locks and cruise control are not available. Wheels are the same 15-inch steel, but five-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels are optional. Options include leather upholstery with heated front seats and a power moonroof.  forte sx 17,195) uses a 2. 4-liter engine with a six-speed manual transmission or five-speed automatic 1000). A sport-tuned suspension is standard, along with larger front brake rotors, and 17-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels. The upholstery is a sporty cloth, with metal-finish interior trim and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. Full leather is optional. Fog lamps are standard.  safety features that come standard on all kia forte models include frontal and front side airbags, airbag curtains, anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, traction control, and a tire pressure monitor. walkaroundthe new kia forte is a looker. It's an excellent example of clean styling, nothing really fancy but with all the right lines. It's not a big car, and it doesn't look big.  it's shaped like a wedge, or appears to be, from the swept-back grille and headlamps carrying through climbing shoulders on the sides of the car, back to the short rear deck. From some angles it looks aggressive, from others subtle. Even the rear door seams carry this wedge line. The coefficient of drag is a low 0. 29, reflecting the clean wind-cutting shape.  refreshingly, there are no squared flares over the rear wheelwells. The large taillights have nice angles, and wrap horizontally around the corners of the car and into the trunk lid. The roofline is coupe-like. Body-colored mirrors and door handles, hooray.  the front fenders are subtly boxed, but there are no trendy flares there, either. The front valance between the grille and low air intakes is not bulky, as with too many cars, and the three black screened intakes that run the full width of the chin are tidy and businesslike.  the hood, too, is short, accenting the wedge. The short hood and deck mean efficient construction with no excess in overhangs, because the overall length is correct for the compact sedan class. The kia forte has one of the roomiest interiors in the compact sedan class, with a total of 96. 8 cubic feet of passenger volume. That's 3. 3 cubic feet more than the 2009 subaru legacy. And the forte's trunk space of 14. 7 cubic feet is best in class, matching the redesigned and enlarged midsize 2010 legacy.  headroom is good front and rear, while front legroom is ample and rear legroom is 35. 0 inches, good for a compact sedan.  the thing that kia does exceptionally well is execute. The korean manufacturer copies carefully, and perfects. There's no pretension about being original or unique with the forte interior, no attempt to re-invent anything. This is excellent, the intelligent antithesis of so many others especially german namely bmw and audi. Great firm but not tight bolstering. Given the performance difference, fuel mileage and lower base price by $1400 would be the only reason to choose the ex. And, considering there are many other worthwhile sx features, the loss of meat is not worth the savings. In other words, we'd spring for the sx.  however there might be an exception. There is a fuel economy package with the ex, including five-speed automatic, electric power steering, a smart alternator, silica tires for low rolling resistance, and an aerodynamic kit that costs $1600, making an eco ex about the same price as a sporty sx, but it raises the fuel mileage to 27/36 mpg. The sx makes a fine 173 horsepower, and its 168 pound-feet peaks at 4000 rpm. It's fun to work the transmission to use the power; the sportmatic manual mode in the five-speed automatic makes shifting easy.  forte is a brand-new car and it uses a new ground-up chassis, caging 63 percent of the cabin with high-strength steel, plus ultra high-strength steel in the side sills. This increases rigidity and improves handling. The sx front brakes use 11. 8-inch vented discs, and the rears 10. 3-inch solid discs, employing an anti-lock brake system with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist. Plenty big and responsive for a car of this weight, we can say after using them hard through a twisty section. Ex brakes are the same, but with 11. 0-inch front discs.  the forte is quite nimble and fun to drive, with power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering and a very tight turning circle. Among the compact sedans we named in the opening overview, we'd say the forte feels most like the mitsubishi lancer. The long wheelbase and wide stance are felt in the ride and cornering. Maybe especially the ride, satisfactory on every surface we drove the sx. The sx comes with firmer springs and shocks and a larger front anti-roll bar, which is another reason it's a great value for just $1400 more than the ex.  for real sport-driving excitement, watch for the forte koup (as in coupe), coming soon.  we tested the forte right after the all-new subaru legacy, and it might not be fair to compare the two because they're in a different class, but we can say that the forte did not feel as solid as the legacy. It felt lighter, if not tinnier. And it is lighter, by about 500 pounds, tipping the scales at a lithe 2868 pounds.

2010 chevrolet equinox review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Redesigned for 2010. introductionthe chevrolet equinox is redesigned for 2010. That makes this the second generation of this crossover suv. Though sized more like a midsize suv, the equinox has pricing and features of a compact suv, though now with some luxury and technology amenities not expected in its price class.  the redesigned equinox is about the same size as the outgoing model. But it has different styling inside and out and two new engine choices. Thanks to direct injection, it now has more power and gets class-leading fuel economy of 32 mpg on the highway. It has similar power numbers at 264 horsepower, but it feels much less powerful than the larger v6 it replaces. It is more carlike than the pre-2010 models, with less lean in turns. It's not sporty, but it's on par with its main competitors, including the honda cr-v and toyota rav4. The ride is also quite good. We found that with either the standard 17- or available 18-inch wheels, the equinox absorbs even sharp bumps without disrupting passenger comfort.  inside, the equinox has an attractively designed interior. There are some nice amenities, including ice blue ambient lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, a hard-drive audio system, a dual-screen rear dvd entertainment system, and a power rear liftgate. The front seats are comfortable and supportive, and they have 10 inches of travel, so drivers of all sizes with fit. The useful multiflex rear seat carries over. While the last model's handling was too sloppy for many, that problem has been remedied, making the equinox a player in the entry crossover suv market.  the 2010 chevy equinox is offered in ls, 1lt, 2lt and ltz trim levels, each with front-wheel drive (2wd) or all-wheel drive (awd). The transmission is a six-speed automatic with an eco feature that alters the shift points to increase fuel economy by about 1 mpg.  also offered is a 3. 0-liter v6. A derivative of gm's 3. 6-liter v6, this engine delivers 264 horsepower and 222 pound-feet of torque. Gm quotes fuel economy estimates of 18/25 mpg with front-wheel drive and 17/24 mpg with all-wheel drive. The 2lt 25,445) and 2lt awd 27,195) get automatic climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, eight-way power driver's seat, usb port, 250-watt pioneer audio system, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a rearview camera display, bluetooth connectivity, remote engine starting, eight-way power driver's seat and fog lights.  equinox ltz 28,045) and ltz awd 29,795) add leather upholstery, a rear cargo cover, cargo net, roof rack cross bars, memory for the driver's seat and mirrors, heated front seats, rear park assist, automatic headlights, power rear liftgate and chrome exterior trim.  options include a cargo management system 245) with a rear tonneau cover, a cargo net and roof rail crossbars; a trailering package 350) with a 4-pin wire harness and a trailer hitch receiver; a vehicle interface package 495) with bluetooth connectivity, a usb port, remote engine starting and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with additional controls; power rear liftgate 495); sunroof 795); rear park assist 195); rearview camera 320); leather seats 1,050); heated front seats 250); 18-inch alloy wheels with p235/55r18 tires 250); and 19-inch wheels. The available navigation system has voice recognition and comes with a 40-gigabyte hard-drive, premium speakers and a usb port 2,145). The rear dvd entertainment system comes with a screen in the back of each front seat and the usb port 1,295).  safety equipment includes dual threshold front airbags, curtain side airbags, front side airbags, a tire-pressure monitor, anti-lock brakes with brake assist, hill start assist, traction control, and gm's stabilitrak electronic stability control. A rearview camera and rear park assist are optional, and we recommend them. All-wheel drive enhances stability in slippery conditions. walkaroundthe chevrolet equinox is a small midsize crossover suv that is priced and equipped to compete with compact suvs. The equinox uses a longer version of the theta architecture that underpins the saturn vue, but the new model is about that same size as the old one. Theta is updated from the first-generation equinox, and that's a good thing because the outgoing model didn't handle very well. The upcoming gmc terrain will use the same platform.  up front, the equinox features chevrolet's now-signature two-tier grille with gold bowtie insignia. The headlights wrap around the front fenders. Air ducts sit below the headlights and, in models so equipped, they house fog lights in chromed bezels that bisect the openings. The lower front fascia is charcoal-colored plastic and it has an air dam in the center. The ltz model and the 2lt with the chrome appearance package add metallic trim pieces to the lower portion of the air dam opening. The hood has three character lines and is shorter than the last one because chevrolet moved the base of the windshield forward three inches, creating a more slippery shape. The new equinox has a 0. 36 coefficient of drag versus the 0. 42 cd of the outgoing model.  around the sides, the equinox has pronounced fender flares and a wheels-at-the-corners stance, especially up front. The roof features wraparound side glass at the rear and tinted rear and rear side windows. All but the ls model has luggage side rails; they're charcoal on lt models and they add chrome inserts on the ltz and the 2lt with the chrome appearance package. That package also adds chrome door handles and side mirrors. Seventeen-inch aluminum wheels are standard and 18- and 19-inch wheels are available.  at the rear, the equinox has dual round taillights, a takeoff of the malibu design, and a roof spoiler. The tailgate opens upward, and a class-exclusive power, programmable tailgate is offered. Owners can program the tailgate to open to different heights so shorter drivers can reach it. Overall, the look is attractive. The ltz's additional chrome trim adds a touch of class, especially with the chromed 19-inch wheels. interiorchevrolet says the equinox's interior is inspired by the interior of the successful malibu midsize sedan. While that may be true when it comes to aesthetics, it's not true in terms of execution. Instead, like the toyota rav4 and honda cr-v that chevrolet benchmarked when developing this vehicle, the equinox has hard plastic on the entirety of the dashboard, as well as on the center console and door panels. The available ice blue ambient lighting is a delightful feature. Ls models have it on the center stack surround and in the center console cupholders. Lts add it on the instrument panel and center console, and the ltz also gets it in the door handle recesses, in the footwells and in the doors' map pockets. The speedometer and tachometer feature white numbers and black backgrounds. They are set in large pods and in between are water temperature and fuel gauges, as well as a digital trip computer readout. The base interior has a storage cubby at the top of the center stack. When the navigation system is ordered, it sits in this spot. The controls on the center stack are grouped in a tight bunch, with the radio buttons up top and the climate controls at the bottom. With the navigation system, there are 43 buttons, dials and knobs. It's a bit less confusing without the navigation system, but it's goin.

2013 chrysler 200 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. They are quiet underway, deliver better-than-average handling, and perform nicely when equipped with the 6-speed automatic transmission. The styling is simple, elegant and understated. Chrysler has come a long way with these cars. A 4-speed automatic transmission is standard on the lx, but we recommend opting for the 6-speed automatic.  the chrysler 200 limited features a 3. 6-liter v6 good for 283 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. A 6-speed automatic is standard. The cabin is very quiet thanks to ample sound absorption materials, an acoustic glass windshield and laminated side glass usually found in higher priced vehicles. The instrument panel's gray-on-gray graphics are pleasing, and its white accent lighting is wonderful at night, with nice ambient cockpit lighting.  because the chrysler 200 is smaller than many midsize cars, rear legroom suffers a bit, as does cargo space on hardtop models. Surprisingly, though, the convertible's trunk is relatively roomy, thanks to an efficient storage design for the drop-top.  although the chrysler 200 sedan is a perfectly capable vehicle, it's overshadowed by many models in the class that have been redesigned or refreshed in the past year or two, including the ford fusion, honda accord, nissan altima, and toyota camry. Other competitors worth considering include the chevrolet malibu, kia optima and hyundai sonata. Of all of these, the chrysler 200 has the most old-school feel. Convertible competitors are less plentiful. The ford mustang and chevrolet camaro are more performance-oriented. Standard wheels are 17-inch alloys, with two 18-inch wheel designs optional. An upgraded version 695) adds a 6. 5-inch touchscreen display with dvd player and 40 gb hard drive. The cold weather package 295) adds heated front seats and remote start. The s exterior package 495) includes 18-inch aluminum polished painted wheels, black finish grille and fog lamp bezels, projector fog lamps, black treatment headlamps, black inlay chrysler badge and s badge.   limited sedans 24,685) and convertibles 32,095) are powered by the v6 engine and mated to the 6-speed automatic transmission. Standard features include leather heated front seats, a six-speaker boston acoustics audio system and fog lamps. It bears family resemblance to the town and country minivan, particularly noticeable in the headlamps, air intakes and front bumper. The chrysler 200 front air dam is clean: low, thin, and horizontal. Its halogen headlights appear small from head-on, but flow around the front corners into the bulging fenders, creating a line that widens to the rear of the car. It's bold, but not fancy.  the rear deck lid looks chopped, with a chrome strip between led taillamps and another chrome bar between the exhaust outlets that widens the look of the car. It bears a wing logo in brushed metal and blue. interiorthe chrysler 200 cabin is nice, with seat coverings and trim that feel soft and luxurious. The seats feel supportive and should be comfortable for long periods behind the wheel.  rear legroom measures just 36. 2 inches, which is on the short side for a midsize car. Toyota camry and ford fusion offer 38. 3 inches of rear legroom, by comparison, though the chrysler edges the lexus es, at 35. 9. The rear seat is split 60/40 and folds down for more cargo space, which is always appreciated.  the instrument panel contains the usual three round gauges, with gray-on-gray graphics that are pleasing to the eye, while its white accent lighting is wonderful at night. The three-spoke steering wheel has a thick leather-wrapped rim and padded hub with controls for the sound system and cruise setting. Armrests are soft, and door pockets roomy. With dual variable valve timing, the power is good at both low and high rpm, and its 166 foot-pounds of torque are sufficient for the demands of its owners. Even the convertible feels like it's put together well. We noticed very little road noise, and the ride was smooth and solid. The chrysler 200 also corners really well, with little body roll.  the 6-speed automatic transmission is seamless and not over-programmed. We strongly recommend it over the 4-speed automatic that comes standard on the base model.  the optional v6 engine makes 283 horsepower and 260 foot-pounds of torque. The engine has a nice, powerful growl when it's work. Cruise Control✔ Climate Control✔ Bucket Seats✔ Power Locks✔ CD Player✔ Air Conditioning✔ Bluetooth✔ Leather Seats✔ Remote Start✔ Aluminum Wheels

2007 chrysler aspen review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. All-new full-size sport-utility. introductionthe 2007 chrysler aspen is a big, traditional sport utility. Representing a new nameplate, the aspen is a full-size suv based on the dodge durango. Aspen shares durango's size and mechanicals; the main differences being styling, interior and tuning. Both use truck chassis and engineering. It's in the same class as the chevy tahoe, gmc yukon, and ford expedition.  aspen is an attractive package with a competitive line of engines, including a 235-horsepower, flex-fuel v8 that runs on either regular gasoline or e85 (a blend of 15 percent gasoline and 85 percent ethanol) and a 335-hp, 5. 7-liter v8 with a system that conserves fuel by shutting off half the cylinders when the engine is running under a light load. Tires and wheels properly fill wheel wells, with good-looking, 20-inch, chrome rims adding bling to the uplevel model.  aspen accommodates six, seven or eight passengers, depending on seat configuration. Three rows of seats are standard, starting with front buckets, a second-row bench and a third-row bench. Buckets are optional for the second row.  the interior blends elegant-looking, satin-finish metallic accents with wood-grain trim on the dash and center console. Standard upholstery is chrysler's trademarked fabric that resists stains and odors. The requisite leather trim that's standard on the up-level aspen is optional on the base model. All the usual power and personalization features are available.  once past the initial impression, signs of cost cutting, inattention to detail or both begin to emerge, however. Interior finishes look better and more expensive than they feel. Stylists, or the people who pay their bills, seem to have scrimped on such subtle things as thickness of padding on armrests and bin covers.  a few critical ergonomic decisions, too, show an imbalance between looks and function. For example, that the steering wheel, a luxurious-looking combination of woodgrain and leather, comes standard with a tilt adjustment is appreciated. And that power adjustable pedals are offered as an option is also a plus. Only problem is, with the standard, fixed pedals, it's difficult if not impossible for short-stature drivers to position the seat where they can reach the pedals and still maintain the 10-inch safety zone drivers that should maintain between their upper body and the steering wheel's airbag. Optional power-adjustable pedals are designed to address this.  the aspen receives better and more consistent marks on the technology front. Both powertrains earn decent fuel economy ratings by the federal government, either matching the competition or at worst giving up no more than one or two miles per gallon, even in the new, revised system the epa will use for the 2008 model year. And the aspen's standard electronic stability control system incorporates a new and so far exclusive feature that controls the dreaded and eerily destabilizing trailer sway. lineupthe chrysler aspen 4x2 30,745) and 4x4 33,520) come standard with the 4. 7-liter v8. When the 5. 7-liter engine is ordered with the 4x4 1,190), the single-speed transfer case is standard (accounting for the price difference), the two-speed transfer case is optional 195). The stereo can be upgraded with eight alpine speakers accompanied by a 276-watt amplifier 395) and an in-dash, six-disc cd/mp3 changer 300). The single-speed transfer case is standard on the 4x4, the two-speed case not offered. Beyond these upgrades, the same options are offered as on the base model, including the navigation system 1,295).  safety features include roof-mounted, full-coverage (all three rows of seats) side-curtain airbags that protect the head from injury in side impact and roll-over crashes, along with the mandatory dual, multi-stage frontal airbags. All seating positions are fitted with three-point belts and adjustable head restraints. Missing, however, are front seat-mounted side airbags that protect the upper body in side crashes, a feature increasingly co. walkaroundthe chrysler aspen looks like a lot of other full-size suvs, but we found it attracted admiring looks and inquiries. Chrysler styling cues set the aspen apart from its sibling, the dodge durango.  the grille, with bold crossbars and classic chrysler medallion, attempts to stake a claim for the aspen at the top of the brand's pyramid. Strangely un-prepossessing, low-key headlamp units diminish the claim, which isn't helped either by the bland bumper and generic fog lamps. Embossed strakes in the hood running back to the windshield carry on the newest chrysler-brand styling motif, seemingly inspired by the jewel-like cap on the famous chrysler building in new york city and appearing first on the crossfire then on the new sebring.  the side view is an uninspired take on standard suv proportions and features. This isn't to bad mouth the aspen's styling, only to recognize the difficulty in finding a new, fresh presentation of a look that's been around for, well, more than half a century. Full-round door handles make for ease of use in bad weather and are kind to fingernails. The swept-back windshield looks sleek and shows homage to aerodynamics. The optional running boards do a better job of dirtying the backsides of trouser legs and long skirts than serving as truly functional steps. Mildly creased, visually pleasant blisters circle the wheel wells. A chrome-topped, overstated molding strip pulls double duty, breaking up the expanse of metal between the front and rear wheel wells while insulating the doors against parking lot dings. Side mirrors proudly perch on brackets extending from the base of the a-pillars (the side frames of the windshield). A slight ridge defining the beltline (where the side windows meet the lower body panels) extends beyond the base of the d-pillar, accenting the graceful outline of the rear quarter window. A short front overhang and tucked-up lower hindquarters invite thoughts of venturing off the highway to explore an unpaved track on the occasional weekend outing.  it's the rear aspect of the aspen that has the most presence, the view most will have of it in traffic. A strong rear bumper with a deep, non-skid clad step cups the one-piece liftgate. Chrome-like trim on the bumper's end caps tie into the side molding strip. The medallion-and-wing treatment from the grille repeats above the stylized license plate recess. Gently bowed sides and rounded top give the back end a smaller, less mass.

2011 ford escape review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The ford escape is a mid-size sport-utility vehicle with credentials that make it equally suited to urban commutes or weekend off-road outings. The xlt and limited trims feature the same 2. 5-liter engine with a six-speed automatic transmission. A 240-hp 3. 0-liter v6 is an available upgrade on limited models. Standard safety features include front airbags, front seat mounted side airbags and side-curtain airbags for front and rear passengers. The escape carries-on for 2011 with minimal changes.

2010 bmw 3 series review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The bmw 328i delivers a special mix of sporting performance, practicality and european luxury in a compact package. It's the car that defines 'sport sedan,' and the benchmark every luxury car maker from acura to volvo aims at when it develops an entry-level luxury sport sedan. The rear-wheel drive 328i is available in coupe, sedan, wagon and convertible bodies, while the all-wheel drive 328i xdrive is available in coupe, sedan and wagon only. Power is provided by a 3. 0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that puts out 230 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard on all variations, with a six-speed automatic transmission optional. For 2010, hd radio has been added as standard equipment to all 328 models.
