2010 kia forte koup review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. New stylish and affordable sedan. introductionthe kia forte is a new entry into the compact car field with contenders like honda civic, toyota corolla, nissan sentra, mazda 3, mitsubishi lancer, ford focus, and chevrolet cobalt. Most fuel-efficient, however, is the ex with the fuel economy package, which yields an epa-estimated 27/36 mpg.  most fun to drive is the forte sx equipped with a larger 2. 4-liter engine and five-speed automatic. We found the handling in the sx with its sport-tuned suspension taut. The ride is firm but never harsh. Upholstery is cloth. Air conditioning and a 60/40 split rear seat are optional 1500), while power windows, door locks and cruise control are not available. Wheels are the same 15-inch steel, but five-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels are optional. Options include leather upholstery with heated front seats and a power moonroof.  forte sx 17,195) uses a 2. 4-liter engine with a six-speed manual transmission or five-speed automatic 1000). A sport-tuned suspension is standard, along with larger front brake rotors, and 17-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels. The upholstery is a sporty cloth, with metal-finish interior trim and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. Full leather is optional. Fog lamps are standard.  safety features that come standard on all kia forte models include frontal and front side airbags, airbag curtains, anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, traction control, and a tire pressure monitor. walkaroundthe new kia forte is a looker. It's an excellent example of clean styling, nothing really fancy but with all the right lines. It's not a big car, and it doesn't look big.  it's shaped like a wedge, or appears to be, from the swept-back grille and headlamps carrying through climbing shoulders on the sides of the car, back to the short rear deck. From some angles it looks aggressive, from others subtle. Even the rear door seams carry this wedge line. The coefficient of drag is a low 0. 29, reflecting the clean wind-cutting shape.  refreshingly, there are no squared flares over the rear wheelwells. The large taillights have nice angles, and wrap horizontally around the corners of the car and into the trunk lid. The roofline is coupe-like. Body-colored mirrors and door handles, hooray.  the front fenders are subtly boxed, but there are no trendy flares there, either. The front valance between the grille and low air intakes is not bulky, as with too many cars, and the three black screened intakes that run the full width of the chin are tidy and businesslike.  the hood, too, is short, accenting the wedge. The short hood and deck mean efficient construction with no excess in overhangs, because the overall length is correct for the compact sedan class. The kia forte has one of the roomiest interiors in the compact sedan class, with a total of 96. 8 cubic feet of passenger volume. That's 3. 3 cubic feet more than the 2009 subaru legacy. And the forte's trunk space of 14. 7 cubic feet is best in class, matching the redesigned and enlarged midsize 2010 legacy.  headroom is good front and rear, while front legroom is ample and rear legroom is 35. 0 inches, good for a compact sedan.  the thing that kia does exceptionally well is execute. The korean manufacturer copies carefully, and perfects. There's no pretension about being original or unique with the forte interior, no attempt to re-invent anything. This is excellent, the intelligent antithesis of so many others especially german namely bmw and audi. Great firm but not tight bolstering. Given the performance difference, fuel mileage and lower base price by $1400 would be the only reason to choose the ex. And, considering there are many other worthwhile sx features, the loss of meat is not worth the savings. In other words, we'd spring for the sx.  however there might be an exception. There is a fuel economy package with the ex, including five-speed automatic, electric power steering, a smart alternator, silica tires for low rolling resistance, and an aerodynamic kit that costs $1600, making an eco ex about the same price as a sporty sx, but it raises the fuel mileage to 27/36 mpg. The sx makes a fine 173 horsepower, and its 168 pound-feet peaks at 4000 rpm. It's fun to work the transmission to use the power; the sportmatic manual mode in the five-speed automatic makes shifting easy.  forte is a brand-new car and it uses a new ground-up chassis, caging 63 percent of the cabin with high-strength steel, plus ultra high-strength steel in the side sills. This increases rigidity and improves handling. The sx front brakes use 11. 8-inch vented discs, and the rears 10. 3-inch solid discs, employing an anti-lock brake system with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist. Plenty big and responsive for a car of this weight, we can say after using them hard through a twisty section. Ex brakes are the same, but with 11. 0-inch front discs.  the forte is quite nimble and fun to drive, with power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering and a very tight turning circle. Among the compact sedans we named in the opening overview, we'd say the forte feels most like the mitsubishi lancer. The long wheelbase and wide stance are felt in the ride and cornering. Maybe especially the ride, satisfactory on every surface we drove the sx. The sx comes with firmer springs and shocks and a larger front anti-roll bar, which is another reason it's a great value for just $1400 more than the ex.  for real sport-driving excitement, watch for the forte koup (as in coupe), coming soon.  we tested the forte right after the all-new subaru legacy, and it might not be fair to compare the two because they're in a different class, but we can say that the forte did not feel as solid as the legacy. It felt lighter, if not tinnier. And it is lighter, by about 500 pounds, tipping the scales at a lithe 2868 pounds.

2010 chevrolet equinox review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Redesigned for 2010. introductionthe chevrolet equinox is redesigned for 2010. That makes this the second generation of this crossover suv. Though sized more like a midsize suv, the equinox has pricing and features of a compact suv, though now with some luxury and technology amenities not expected in its price class.  the redesigned equinox is about the same size as the outgoing model. But it has different styling inside and out and two new engine choices. Thanks to direct injection, it now has more power and gets class-leading fuel economy of 32 mpg on the highway. It has similar power numbers at 264 horsepower, but it feels much less powerful than the larger v6 it replaces. It is more carlike than the pre-2010 models, with less lean in turns. It's not sporty, but it's on par with its main competitors, including the honda cr-v and toyota rav4. The ride is also quite good. We found that with either the standard 17- or available 18-inch wheels, the equinox absorbs even sharp bumps without disrupting passenger comfort.  inside, the equinox has an attractively designed interior. There are some nice amenities, including ice blue ambient lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, a hard-drive audio system, a dual-screen rear dvd entertainment system, and a power rear liftgate. The front seats are comfortable and supportive, and they have 10 inches of travel, so drivers of all sizes with fit. The useful multiflex rear seat carries over. While the last model's handling was too sloppy for many, that problem has been remedied, making the equinox a player in the entry crossover suv market.  the 2010 chevy equinox is offered in ls, 1lt, 2lt and ltz trim levels, each with front-wheel drive (2wd) or all-wheel drive (awd). The transmission is a six-speed automatic with an eco feature that alters the shift points to increase fuel economy by about 1 mpg.  also offered is a 3. 0-liter v6. A derivative of gm's 3. 6-liter v6, this engine delivers 264 horsepower and 222 pound-feet of torque. Gm quotes fuel economy estimates of 18/25 mpg with front-wheel drive and 17/24 mpg with all-wheel drive. The 2lt 25,445) and 2lt awd 27,195) get automatic climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, eight-way power driver's seat, usb port, 250-watt pioneer audio system, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a rearview camera display, bluetooth connectivity, remote engine starting, eight-way power driver's seat and fog lights.  equinox ltz 28,045) and ltz awd 29,795) add leather upholstery, a rear cargo cover, cargo net, roof rack cross bars, memory for the driver's seat and mirrors, heated front seats, rear park assist, automatic headlights, power rear liftgate and chrome exterior trim.  options include a cargo management system 245) with a rear tonneau cover, a cargo net and roof rail crossbars; a trailering package 350) with a 4-pin wire harness and a trailer hitch receiver; a vehicle interface package 495) with bluetooth connectivity, a usb port, remote engine starting and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with additional controls; power rear liftgate 495); sunroof 795); rear park assist 195); rearview camera 320); leather seats 1,050); heated front seats 250); 18-inch alloy wheels with p235/55r18 tires 250); and 19-inch wheels. The available navigation system has voice recognition and comes with a 40-gigabyte hard-drive, premium speakers and a usb port 2,145). The rear dvd entertainment system comes with a screen in the back of each front seat and the usb port 1,295).  safety equipment includes dual threshold front airbags, curtain side airbags, front side airbags, a tire-pressure monitor, anti-lock brakes with brake assist, hill start assist, traction control, and gm's stabilitrak electronic stability control. A rearview camera and rear park assist are optional, and we recommend them. All-wheel drive enhances stability in slippery conditions. walkaroundthe chevrolet equinox is a small midsize crossover suv that is priced and equipped to compete with compact suvs. The equinox uses a longer version of the theta architecture that underpins the saturn vue, but the new model is about that same size as the old one. Theta is updated from the first-generation equinox, and that's a good thing because the outgoing model didn't handle very well. The upcoming gmc terrain will use the same platform.  up front, the equinox features chevrolet's now-signature two-tier grille with gold bowtie insignia. The headlights wrap around the front fenders. Air ducts sit below the headlights and, in models so equipped, they house fog lights in chromed bezels that bisect the openings. The lower front fascia is charcoal-colored plastic and it has an air dam in the center. The ltz model and the 2lt with the chrome appearance package add metallic trim pieces to the lower portion of the air dam opening. The hood has three character lines and is shorter than the last one because chevrolet moved the base of the windshield forward three inches, creating a more slippery shape. The new equinox has a 0. 36 coefficient of drag versus the 0. 42 cd of the outgoing model.  around the sides, the equinox has pronounced fender flares and a wheels-at-the-corners stance, especially up front. The roof features wraparound side glass at the rear and tinted rear and rear side windows. All but the ls model has luggage side rails; they're charcoal on lt models and they add chrome inserts on the ltz and the 2lt with the chrome appearance package. That package also adds chrome door handles and side mirrors. Seventeen-inch aluminum wheels are standard and 18- and 19-inch wheels are available.  at the rear, the equinox has dual round taillights, a takeoff of the malibu design, and a roof spoiler. The tailgate opens upward, and a class-exclusive power, programmable tailgate is offered. Owners can program the tailgate to open to different heights so shorter drivers can reach it. Overall, the look is attractive. The ltz's additional chrome trim adds a touch of class, especially with the chromed 19-inch wheels. interiorchevrolet says the equinox's interior is inspired by the interior of the successful malibu midsize sedan. While that may be true when it comes to aesthetics, it's not true in terms of execution. Instead, like the toyota rav4 and honda cr-v that chevrolet benchmarked when developing this vehicle, the equinox has hard plastic on the entirety of the dashboard, as well as on the center console and door panels. The available ice blue ambient lighting is a delightful feature. Ls models have it on the center stack surround and in the center console cupholders. Lts add it on the instrument panel and center console, and the ltz also gets it in the door handle recesses, in the footwells and in the doors' map pockets. The speedometer and tachometer feature white numbers and black backgrounds. They are set in large pods and in between are water temperature and fuel gauges, as well as a digital trip computer readout. The base interior has a storage cubby at the top of the center stack. When the navigation system is ordered, it sits in this spot. The controls on the center stack are grouped in a tight bunch, with the radio buttons up top and the climate controls at the bottom. With the navigation system, there are 43 buttons, dials and knobs. It's a bit less confusing without the navigation system, but it's goin.

2013 chrysler 200 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. They are quiet underway, deliver better-than-average handling, and perform nicely when equipped with the 6-speed automatic transmission. The styling is simple, elegant and understated. Chrysler has come a long way with these cars. A 4-speed automatic transmission is standard on the lx, but we recommend opting for the 6-speed automatic.  the chrysler 200 limited features a 3. 6-liter v6 good for 283 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. A 6-speed automatic is standard. The cabin is very quiet thanks to ample sound absorption materials, an acoustic glass windshield and laminated side glass usually found in higher priced vehicles. The instrument panel's gray-on-gray graphics are pleasing, and its white accent lighting is wonderful at night, with nice ambient cockpit lighting.  because the chrysler 200 is smaller than many midsize cars, rear legroom suffers a bit, as does cargo space on hardtop models. Surprisingly, though, the convertible's trunk is relatively roomy, thanks to an efficient storage design for the drop-top.  although the chrysler 200 sedan is a perfectly capable vehicle, it's overshadowed by many models in the class that have been redesigned or refreshed in the past year or two, including the ford fusion, honda accord, nissan altima, and toyota camry. Other competitors worth considering include the chevrolet malibu, kia optima and hyundai sonata. Of all of these, the chrysler 200 has the most old-school feel. Convertible competitors are less plentiful. The ford mustang and chevrolet camaro are more performance-oriented. Standard wheels are 17-inch alloys, with two 18-inch wheel designs optional. An upgraded version 695) adds a 6. 5-inch touchscreen display with dvd player and 40 gb hard drive. The cold weather package 295) adds heated front seats and remote start. The s exterior package 495) includes 18-inch aluminum polished painted wheels, black finish grille and fog lamp bezels, projector fog lamps, black treatment headlamps, black inlay chrysler badge and s badge.   limited sedans 24,685) and convertibles 32,095) are powered by the v6 engine and mated to the 6-speed automatic transmission. Standard features include leather heated front seats, a six-speaker boston acoustics audio system and fog lamps. It bears family resemblance to the town and country minivan, particularly noticeable in the headlamps, air intakes and front bumper. The chrysler 200 front air dam is clean: low, thin, and horizontal. Its halogen headlights appear small from head-on, but flow around the front corners into the bulging fenders, creating a line that widens to the rear of the car. It's bold, but not fancy.  the rear deck lid looks chopped, with a chrome strip between led taillamps and another chrome bar between the exhaust outlets that widens the look of the car. It bears a wing logo in brushed metal and blue. interiorthe chrysler 200 cabin is nice, with seat coverings and trim that feel soft and luxurious. The seats feel supportive and should be comfortable for long periods behind the wheel.  rear legroom measures just 36. 2 inches, which is on the short side for a midsize car. Toyota camry and ford fusion offer 38. 3 inches of rear legroom, by comparison, though the chrysler edges the lexus es, at 35. 9. The rear seat is split 60/40 and folds down for more cargo space, which is always appreciated.  the instrument panel contains the usual three round gauges, with gray-on-gray graphics that are pleasing to the eye, while its white accent lighting is wonderful at night. The three-spoke steering wheel has a thick leather-wrapped rim and padded hub with controls for the sound system and cruise setting. Armrests are soft, and door pockets roomy. With dual variable valve timing, the power is good at both low and high rpm, and its 166 foot-pounds of torque are sufficient for the demands of its owners. Even the convertible feels like it's put together well. We noticed very little road noise, and the ride was smooth and solid. The chrysler 200 also corners really well, with little body roll.  the 6-speed automatic transmission is seamless and not over-programmed. We strongly recommend it over the 4-speed automatic that comes standard on the base model.  the optional v6 engine makes 283 horsepower and 260 foot-pounds of torque. The engine has a nice, powerful growl when it's work. Cruise Control✔ Climate Control✔ Bucket Seats✔ Power Locks✔ CD Player✔ Air Conditioning✔ Bluetooth✔ Leather Seats✔ Remote Start✔ Aluminum Wheels

2007 chrysler aspen review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. All-new full-size sport-utility. introductionthe 2007 chrysler aspen is a big, traditional sport utility. Representing a new nameplate, the aspen is a full-size suv based on the dodge durango. Aspen shares durango's size and mechanicals; the main differences being styling, interior and tuning. Both use truck chassis and engineering. It's in the same class as the chevy tahoe, gmc yukon, and ford expedition.  aspen is an attractive package with a competitive line of engines, including a 235-horsepower, flex-fuel v8 that runs on either regular gasoline or e85 (a blend of 15 percent gasoline and 85 percent ethanol) and a 335-hp, 5. 7-liter v8 with a system that conserves fuel by shutting off half the cylinders when the engine is running under a light load. Tires and wheels properly fill wheel wells, with good-looking, 20-inch, chrome rims adding bling to the uplevel model.  aspen accommodates six, seven or eight passengers, depending on seat configuration. Three rows of seats are standard, starting with front buckets, a second-row bench and a third-row bench. Buckets are optional for the second row.  the interior blends elegant-looking, satin-finish metallic accents with wood-grain trim on the dash and center console. Standard upholstery is chrysler's trademarked fabric that resists stains and odors. The requisite leather trim that's standard on the up-level aspen is optional on the base model. All the usual power and personalization features are available.  once past the initial impression, signs of cost cutting, inattention to detail or both begin to emerge, however. Interior finishes look better and more expensive than they feel. Stylists, or the people who pay their bills, seem to have scrimped on such subtle things as thickness of padding on armrests and bin covers.  a few critical ergonomic decisions, too, show an imbalance between looks and function. For example, that the steering wheel, a luxurious-looking combination of woodgrain and leather, comes standard with a tilt adjustment is appreciated. And that power adjustable pedals are offered as an option is also a plus. Only problem is, with the standard, fixed pedals, it's difficult if not impossible for short-stature drivers to position the seat where they can reach the pedals and still maintain the 10-inch safety zone drivers that should maintain between their upper body and the steering wheel's airbag. Optional power-adjustable pedals are designed to address this.  the aspen receives better and more consistent marks on the technology front. Both powertrains earn decent fuel economy ratings by the federal government, either matching the competition or at worst giving up no more than one or two miles per gallon, even in the new, revised system the epa will use for the 2008 model year. And the aspen's standard electronic stability control system incorporates a new and so far exclusive feature that controls the dreaded and eerily destabilizing trailer sway. lineupthe chrysler aspen 4x2 30,745) and 4x4 33,520) come standard with the 4. 7-liter v8. When the 5. 7-liter engine is ordered with the 4x4 1,190), the single-speed transfer case is standard (accounting for the price difference), the two-speed transfer case is optional 195). The stereo can be upgraded with eight alpine speakers accompanied by a 276-watt amplifier 395) and an in-dash, six-disc cd/mp3 changer 300). The single-speed transfer case is standard on the 4x4, the two-speed case not offered. Beyond these upgrades, the same options are offered as on the base model, including the navigation system 1,295).  safety features include roof-mounted, full-coverage (all three rows of seats) side-curtain airbags that protect the head from injury in side impact and roll-over crashes, along with the mandatory dual, multi-stage frontal airbags. All seating positions are fitted with three-point belts and adjustable head restraints. Missing, however, are front seat-mounted side airbags that protect the upper body in side crashes, a feature increasingly co. walkaroundthe chrysler aspen looks like a lot of other full-size suvs, but we found it attracted admiring looks and inquiries. Chrysler styling cues set the aspen apart from its sibling, the dodge durango.  the grille, with bold crossbars and classic chrysler medallion, attempts to stake a claim for the aspen at the top of the brand's pyramid. Strangely un-prepossessing, low-key headlamp units diminish the claim, which isn't helped either by the bland bumper and generic fog lamps. Embossed strakes in the hood running back to the windshield carry on the newest chrysler-brand styling motif, seemingly inspired by the jewel-like cap on the famous chrysler building in new york city and appearing first on the crossfire then on the new sebring.  the side view is an uninspired take on standard suv proportions and features. This isn't to bad mouth the aspen's styling, only to recognize the difficulty in finding a new, fresh presentation of a look that's been around for, well, more than half a century. Full-round door handles make for ease of use in bad weather and are kind to fingernails. The swept-back windshield looks sleek and shows homage to aerodynamics. The optional running boards do a better job of dirtying the backsides of trouser legs and long skirts than serving as truly functional steps. Mildly creased, visually pleasant blisters circle the wheel wells. A chrome-topped, overstated molding strip pulls double duty, breaking up the expanse of metal between the front and rear wheel wells while insulating the doors against parking lot dings. Side mirrors proudly perch on brackets extending from the base of the a-pillars (the side frames of the windshield). A slight ridge defining the beltline (where the side windows meet the lower body panels) extends beyond the base of the d-pillar, accenting the graceful outline of the rear quarter window. A short front overhang and tucked-up lower hindquarters invite thoughts of venturing off the highway to explore an unpaved track on the occasional weekend outing.  it's the rear aspect of the aspen that has the most presence, the view most will have of it in traffic. A strong rear bumper with a deep, non-skid clad step cups the one-piece liftgate. Chrome-like trim on the bumper's end caps tie into the side molding strip. The medallion-and-wing treatment from the grille repeats above the stylized license plate recess. Gently bowed sides and rounded top give the back end a smaller, less mass.

2011 ford escape review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The ford escape is a mid-size sport-utility vehicle with credentials that make it equally suited to urban commutes or weekend off-road outings. 2010 bmw 3 series review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The bmw 328i delivers a special mix of sporting performance, practicality and european luxury in a compact package. It's the car that defines 'sport sedan,' and the benchmark every luxury car maker from acura to volvo aims at when it develops an entry-level luxury sport sedan. The rear-wheel drive 328i is available in coupe, sedan, wagon and convertible bodies, while the all-wheel drive 328i xdrive is available in coupe, sedan and wagon only. Power is provided by a 3. 0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that puts out 230 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard on all variations, with a six-speed automatic transmission optional. For 2010, hd radio has been added as standard equipment to all 328 models.

2010 ford explorer review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. For many years, the ford explorer has been one of the best-selling suvs in the market. Two powertrain combinations are available: a 210-hp 4. 0-liter v6 engine mated to a five-speed automatic transmission is standard on all trims, while a 292-hp 4. 6-liter v8 engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission is optional on the eddie bauer and limited. Explorer xlt trims are well-equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, cruise control and mp3 capability; eddie bauer trims add unique two-tone exterior accents, 17-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, leather upholstery and a third row of seating, along with satellite radio and the sync communication system with bluetooth wireless connectivity. Limited trims are further outfitted with 18-inch chrome-clad wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, upgraded audio with 6cd changer, power-folding third-row seat and a reverse sensing system. Standard safety features on every explorer include advancetrac with roll stability control, traction control, anti-lock disc brakes and a tire pressure monitor, as well as dual front, front side-impact and side-curtain airbags. For 2010, the ford explorer carries over with minor adjustments to standard equipment and a restructured ordering strategy. A manual-folding third-row seat is now standard on eddie bauer trims, providing seating for up to seven passengers. Additionally, all-wheel drive explorer models are no longer offered in the eddie bauer trim level. Climate Control✔ Cruise Control✔ Air Conditioning✔ Bluetooth✔ Alloy Wheels

2010 ford fusion review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The 2010 ford fusion, and in particular, the 2010 ford fusion hybrid, delivers contemporary styling, a first-class driving experience, and world-class fuel mileage.  epa ratings for the ford fusion hybrid are a stupendous 41/36 mpg city/highway. The fusion gets eight more miles per gallon in city driving and two more on the highway than does the toyota camry hybrid. During los angeles morning rush, we drove the fusion hybrid in heavy traffic from the sunset strip 10 miles west along hilly, snaking sunset boulevard to the beach, then south to santa monica pier, all the while proceeding at a distinctly non-funereal pace. The combined horsepower of the hybrid's gas engine and electric motor is 191 hp, but the literally instantaneous torque of its forceful electric motor makes it feel like more.  most of the new fusion's dimensions are unchanged from the previous model, but mechanically and in styling, the 2010 model exhibits vastly more than a mere freshening of last year's model. The new exterior, nicely enhanced with chrome, has a muscular, crisp euro panache that is, if anything, pleasingly saab-like.  the various gas-engine 2010 fusion models we drove are similarly comfortable, commodious, and in the case of the sport model, excitingly agile. A six-speed automatic is optional.  fusion se 20,545) adds six-speaker audio, fog lamps, fold-flat passenger seat, body-color mirrors, six-way power driver seat, sirius satellite radio, steering wheel audio and cruise controls, illuminated visor mirrors, and 17-inch wheels. A six-speed select-shift automatic is optional. How long has it been since the mainstream american mid-size elicited that?  the fusion's sinuousness is continued in the carefully raised modeling of the hood, implying that what lies beneath is something genuinely worthy. The fusion is no dragster, but its performance is spirited, and its 7. 0-second 0-to-60 time in the sport model gives it the edge over the honda accord (7. 4 seconds) and toyota camry (7. 1 seconds).  given the conservative looks of the honda and toyota, the fusion's styling makes a statement all its own. Its well-formed flanks, accented by gleaming streaks of chrome, give the fusion both a dynamically fresh appearance and excellent aerodynamic efficiency. Its coefficient of drag, aided by underbody airflow tuning, is an extremely low 0. 32, helping achieve high fuel mileage.  ford stylists were able to combine graceful styling with practicality in another way. The fusion's high-bustled three-box design delivers a tall, capacious trunk volume of 11. 8 cubic feet. It also delivers an easy lift-over height.  in style and stance, the new ford has a sporting, fun-to-drive spirit not normally associated with either japanese or american workaday mid-sizers. Think of ecoguide as an automotive video game. Black pebble-grain texture on the dash gave things a well-furnished glow. The seat cushions were flat and minimally cushioned. The two outside seats had a hint of lateral support, while the passenger in the center rear would be well advised to negotiate an upgrade. 2013 hyundai elantra review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Coupe and five-door hatch join sedan lineup. introductionone of the best compact cars on the market, the 2013 hyundai elantra continues to be a winning combination of compelling styling, able performance and interior comfort. With unique styling cues and driving characteristics, the elantra coupe and elantra gt are positioned as sporty alternatives to the traditional sedan.  the elantra coupe is fun yet practical, and fits between the elantra sedan and the more enthusiast-oriented genesis coupe. A v-beam rear suspension, instead of the torsion beam found on the sedan, gives the coupe and gt a firmer, more planted feel, and helps to reduce body roll around corners. Suspensions are tuned differently between models with standard 16-inch and optional 17-inch wheels, with the larger wheels receiving an even sportier treatment. Although the base 2013 elantra gls model starts at more than $1,000 over the 2012 model, it gets more standard features including air conditioning, a telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, and 16-inch (instead of 15-inch) wheels. On gls models equipped with the automatic transmission, heated front seats are included with the optional preferred package.  we found all elantra variants enjoyable to drive. The sedan's smooth ride and responsive handling make for a plush, but not numb, driving experience. The coupe and gt models feel more connected to the road, without sacrificing road-trip comfort.  inside, the elantra sedan is roomy all around, especially by compact standards, with interior measurements comparable to those of a small midsize car. The coupe and gt, however, suffer from a lack of rear headroom due to the steeper rake of their rooflines. Like most compacts, elantra is front-wheel drive. Using lighter materials such as aluminum and plastic on engine parts helps to keep the elantra family relatively lightweight, around 2,700 pound for the coupe and a bit more for the gt. The sedan weighs in at around 2,900 pounds, which is good for a compact sedan. These lower curb weights help elantra achieve solid performance and excellent fuel economy.  epa ratings for all elantra variants are some of the most competitive in the industry. Sedans are rated at 28/38 mpg city/highway with both manual and automatic transmissions. That's better than the ford focus (26/36 mpg), chevrolet cruze (26/36 mpg), or honda civic (28/36 mpg). The elantra coupe is epa-rated at 29/40 mpg with the manual and 28/39 mpg city/highway with the automatic. The elantra coupe takes on the honda civic coupe and the kia forte koup, along with larger, more expensive two-doors such as the honda accord. All seat five.  elantra gls sedan 16,695) comes standard with the 6-speed manual transmission, cloth upholstery, six-way manual driver's seat, manually operated air conditioning, cruise control, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, six-speaker audio system with cd player, satellite radio capability and ipod/usb port; 60/40-split folding rear seat, power windows, locks and heated mirrors, tilt steering wheel, keyless entry, anti-theft system, trip computer, and 16-inch steel wheels. The automatic transmission 1,000) is optional. A preferred package 750) is available on gls models equipped with the 6-speed automatic transmission that includes heated front seats, cloth inserts on the door trim, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, sliding center armrest, bluetooth hands-free phone system with voice recognition, additional interior lighting, fog lights and alloy wheels.  elantra limited sedan 20,945) comes only with the automatic transmission and includes leather upholstery, heated front and rear seats, leather-wrapped wheel and shift knob, air conditioning, minor cabin upgrades, power sunroof, fog lights, mirror-imbedded turn signals, black chrome grille, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The limited technology package 2,350) adds pushbutton start, dual automatic climate control, navigation with 7-inch screen, rearview camera, 360-watt premium audio system and automatic headlights.  elantra coupe gs 17,445) includes heated front seats, air conditioning, power accessories, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, steering-wheel mounted controls, sliding center arm rest, 60/40 split folding rear seats, a 6-speaker audio system with cd player, satellite radio capability, auxiliary jack and an ipod/usb port; fog lights and 16-inch alloy wheels. The automatic transmission is optional 1,000).  elantra coupe se 19,745) adds leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a one-touch-up driver's window, aluminum pedals, sport-tuned suspension, power sunroof, a hood insulator, side mirrors with integrated turn signals, a rear spoiler and 17-inch alloy wheels. The automatic transmission is optional 1,000). The elantra coupe se can also be equipped with the technology package 23,095) which includes the automatic transmission and everything found on the se trim plus dual automatic climate control, navigation with 7-inch screen, upgraded 360-watt audio system, rearview camera and automatic headlights.  elantra gt five-door 18,395) comes standard with manual gearbox, air conditioning, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, heated front seats, cooled glove compartment, power accessories, cruise control, steering-wheel-mounted controls, 60/40 split folding rear seats, bluetooth handsfree phone connectivity, a 6-speaker audio system with cd player, satellite radio capability, auxiliary jack and ipod/usb port; hyundai's blue link telematics system, front fog lights, rear window wiper, rear spoiler, hood insulator and 16-inch alloy wheels. Elantra gt models equipped with the style package 21,145) get leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a power driver's seat with power lumbar, aluminum pedals, a driver's side auto-up window, panoramic sunroof, sport-tuned suspension, side mirrors with integrated turn signals and 17-inch alloy wheels. The elantra gt with the tech package 23,495) includes navigation, dual automatic climate control, pushbutton start, a rearview camera and automatic headlights. The automatic transmission is optional 1,000).  safety features on all models include front, front-side and side-curtain airbags, and electronic stability control with vehicle stability control, antilock brakes, brake assist, and traction control. Gt models get a standard driver's knee airbag. The optional rearview camera improves safety by helping the driver spot children and pedestrians when backing up. walkaroundthe hyundai elantra sedan looks striking with crisp, edgy styling. Most of the rest of the class looks dated by comparison. Viewed from the front, the hexagonal grille presents a more sinister grin than that of the mazda 3. The headlight housings wrap into the fenders, the trailing edge back as far as the centerline of the front wheels. The tail lights are long, wavy wraparound fixtures echoing the curves that lead in to the rear bumper and promote airflow to help keep the lights clean; on a dirty road surface the license plate should be the first part shrouded in muck.  the elantra coupe has a sleeker, wedgier shape, without infringing too much on genesis coupe territory. In front, the wide-mouth hexagonal grille is framed by more swept-back headlamps, while the side view reveals more angular a- and c-pillars. Because the coupe is still decently sized, its doors are awfully long, which is most noticeable when getting in and out in tight parking quarters. In back, the integrated spoiler, wraparound taillights and dual ch. 2008 chevrolet impala review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Big, roomy and practical. introductionthe chevrolet impala is a big, roomy sedan. While classified as a midsize sedan, it's large for that class. Close in size to the toyota avalon, competes with mid-size and full-size cars. Among them: the ford taurus, chrysler 300, dodge charger, as well as the honda accord, toyota camry, and nissan altima.  we find the impala's neat, clean lines pleasing to the eye. Its styling looks fresh, and it is, having been sharpened when the impala was last redesigned for 2006. Other people think so: the impala is among the top-10 best-selling cars in the u. S.  this is a roomy car, in the front as well as the back seats, and getting in and out is easy. The impala has a big trunk with a big trunk lid that makes loading cargo easy, and it has a healthy cargo capacity. Optional flip-and-fold rear seats are exclusive in its class, and provide not only holding wells for groceries but a flat cargo floor that expands the trunk for long items.  on the road, the impala is very stable, a nice cruiser. There's lots of low-end torque from the larger of the two available v6 engines, a 3. 9-liter v6 with advanced technologies. Step on the gas and it goes. Given its size, the impala handles well, and surprisingly so.  several models are available, ranging from strong, reliable, fuel-efficient family sedan to sleek and powerful performance car. The mid-level impala lt probably best exemplifies the model line. We like the lt with the optional 3. 9-liter v6, which features gm's active fuel management to improve real-world fuel economy. The ltz adds a heavy-duty suspension, leather interior and convenience features. The ss comes with a small-block 5. 3-liter v8 engine that sounds great and delivers strong acceleration performance.  chevrolet continues to improve and upgrade the impala. We highly recommend the stabilitrak electronic stability control. The audio system has been upgraded for 2008, and xm satellite radio is standard on all models. Onstar is standard, and in its latest version it will automatically communicate the nature and severity of a crash as well as its location to the 911 centers.  overall, the chevrolet impala is a comfortable and convenient car, practical and enjoyable to drive. The clever flip-and-fold rear seats are available 295); so is an engine block heater 75). A flex-fuel version of the v6 can burn e85 ethanol; it's standard in most states, optional in others.  lt 21,865) upgrades to dual-zone air conditioning, eight-way power adjustable driver's seat, dual exhausts, fog lights, 16-inch aluminum wheels, a compass, and more interior conveniences. The standard engine is still the 3. 5-liter v6. Options include the complete ls list plus leather upholstery 1125) on bench or bucket seats, a premium audio system 295), eight-speaker bose system 495), sunroof 900), universal garage door opener 100), and rear spoiler 275).  the lt luxury edition package 2,070) includes leather trim, an upgraded onstar with directions and connections and turn-by-turn navigation, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, flip-and-fold rear seat, abs/ebd with traction control, and a rear spoiler. The 2lt package 2675) includes the 3. 9-liter v6 with active fuel management (formerly called displacement on demand) and 233 horsepower; as well as the premium audio system, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, flip-and-fold rear seat, abs/ebd with traction control, rear spoiler, and 17-inch vented steel wheels with chrome wheel covers.  ltz 26,830) comes standard with the 3. 9-liter v6 and, for 2008, the same fe3 performance suspension as the ss model (see below). Abs/ebd and traction control are also standard. Standard wheels are now 18-inch five-spoke machined alloys wearing w-rated p235/50r18 performance tires.  the ss 28,235) boasts a 303-hp all-aluminum 5. 3-liter v8 designed specifically for front-wheel-drive applications. The ss comes with 18-inch chromed aluminum wheels, p235/50 w-rated performance tires, fe3 performance suspension, and leather-appointed bucket seats, although cloth-upholstered buckets are available for a credit 1125).  safety features that come standard on all impalas include dual front smart air bags and side-curtain roof-mounted air bags for front- and rear-seat passengers. Anti-lock brakes (abs) with electronic brake-force distribution (ebd) and traction control are standard on 2lt, ltz and ss, optional on ls and lt. Stabilitrak is offered for the first time on an impala and is standard on 2lt, ltz, and ss. A tire-pressure monitor is standard. walkaroundthe 2008 chevrolet impala presents a clean, neat, pleasing design that's not so homogenized as to be boring. It's an attractive car.  most recently re-styled for 2006, the current impala features smooth lines. The big headlamps have a premium, jeweled appearance with three independent lighting units and are smoothly integrated into the front end. The tail lights are nicely integrated as well. Flat-blade windshield wipers provide consistent pressure on the glass, which helps eliminate streaking and wind noise.  the ls, lt and ltz are distinguished by exterior trim but share one front end design, while the ss sports a unique grille with ss-signature black-diamond crosshatch pattern. The impala ss also features corvette-inspired bright exhaust tips. A rear spoiler is standard on ltz and ss models, and is available on lt. interiorthe 2008 impala has a lot going for it inside as well. Like the exterior, the cabin was completely redesigned for 2006, and has remained comfortably the same since then.  the standard seats have firmer cushions and increased lumbar support compared to previous models. We didn't find the ss seats particularly comfortable or supportive. Lumbar support is too aggressive, while there's not enough side bolstering to retain the upper body in corners.  a twin-brow instrument panel wraps around into the doors. Impala ls, lt and ltz models have wood trim, with brushed silver trim a no-cost option on lt and ltz. The ss comes standard with unique metallic trim panels, with wood as an option. We found the instrument panel pleasing to the eye, colorful, entertaining and easy to use, with a nice all-of-a-piece unity and style to it. Interior materials are a grade above average.  the dual-zone climate control system that comes on all but the base ls model is a snap to use, with large, round control knobs and good markings. It can support up to a 12-degree temperature difference side-to-side. The optional remote engine start system comes with a 200-foot operating range and automatic climate pre-conditioning to warm or cool the interior. The glovebox is large enough to actually hold stuff.  for 2008, a new family of audio systems features radios compatible with generation 7. 0 onstar. The base audio system comes with six speakers, am/fm/cd/mp3 capability, and xm satellite radio. It features speed-sensing volume control and a two-line, 32-character display and the capability to select freely between am, fm and xm. Setting these presets is as easy as holding the button down. A big round knob in the center allows quick volume adjustments. Too many radios nowadays are too complex or have tiny buttons difficult to operate underway. Not so with gm's radios. The impala sound system is sophisticated yet easy to operate. The optional system adds an in-dash six-cd changer. The premium system is bose. Turn-by-turn navigation directs the driver through the route by using the digital readout lines in the radio head. Directions are downloaded by the onstar advisor to the vehicle and can be played back or paused anywhere from start to destination. Besides being easy to use (all directions are downloaded to the car by an advisor) turn-by-turn is less expensive than a gps navigation system.  the back seat is roomy and comfortable for two adults or three kids, but not three adults. The forward-flipping rear seat cushions reveal a storage t.

2012 chevrolet cruze review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Improved fuel economy. introductionthe chevrolet cruze is an excellent choice among compact sedans. It's the best small car gm has offered in north america in decades. More important, it's among the best cars in its class.  fuel economy is improved for 2012, and the list of standard equipment has grown longer, especially in the mid-range lt level. Otherwise, the 2012 chevrolet cruze is unchanged from 2011.  launched as a 2011 model, the cruze replaced the sturdy but boring cobalt, and represented a great leap forward in technology, features and appeal. The cruze was developed jointly by gm tech centers in asia, europe and the united states to battle compact competitors such as the hyundai elantra and kia forte, the best volkswagen jetta in years, and perennial leaders like the honda civic, mazda 3, and toyota corolla. By the quality of materials, fit or function, it surpasses nearly all its competitors. As with most cars in this class, the cruze is front-wheel drive. Both the manual and automatic are 6-speed-transmissions, which is rare in this class. With the 1. 8-liter engine the government rates it 25/36 mpg with the manual, 22/35 mpg with the automatic. The 2012 chevrolet cruze eco rates 28/42 mpg with the manual, 26/39 mpg with the automatic.  the chevrolet cruze might be the smoothest, quietest compact offered in the united states. Ride quality is outstanding, yet the car is nimble, balanced and handles exceptionally well. Its steering is powered by electricity to save fuel. Underway, the steering feels sharp, with decent feel. The cruze comes standard with a long list of safety features, including advanced electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes, and a full complement of 10 airbags. There are knee-protection airbags for front passengers, side-impact airbags for rear passengers, and head-protection curtains with rollover deployment. Every cruze comes with gm's onstar telematics system, including a six-month subscription for automatic accident response and other services, a great safety feature.  among the 2012 cruze models, the cruze eco delivers the best fuel economy. Its aerodynamic features, including grille vanes that close at highway speeds, help it slip through the air more easily, and it weighs more than 200 pounds less than other models. To achieve its superb fuel economy, however, the cruze eco sacrifices performance, resulting in slower acceleration, longer stopping distances, and poorer handling than the other cruze models.  the cruze ltz comes swathed in leather and loaded with technology. The cruze ltz is available with a full-feature navigation system, rear park assist, concierge services, premium pioneer audio and remote starting. For that kind of money, the alternatives include larger, very nicely equipped midsize sedans such as the ford fusion, honda accord, hyundai sonata or nissan altima. Cruze ls comes with air conditioning, power windows, power door locks with remote keyless entry, floor mats, and six-speaker audio with single cd, an auxiliary jack and xm satellite radio. The standard wheels are 16-inch steel.  cruze eco 19,245) is optimized for fuel economy. It's powered by a smaller, 1. 4-liter turbocharged engine that delivers the same 138 hp as the base engine, with an increase in torque to 148 lb-ft. It's lighter than other cruze models, with aerodynamic aids that make in slipperier through the air, and low-rolling-resistance tires on 17-inch alloy wheels. The 2012 cruze eco comes with bluetooth phone connectivity, usb port, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, cruise control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.  cruise lt 18,475) is powered by the same frugal turbocharged engine plus body-color power side mirrors and all the new goodies that have been added to the cruze eco. Sixteen-inch machined-face alloy wheels are standard on 2012 cruze lt models. The 2012 cruze ltz also comes standard with fog lights, keyless entry and keyless start.  cruze rs is an ltz with an rs appearance package 595), which includes unique bumpers, rocker moldings, and a rear spoiler. A similar package for the lt2 695) adds all that plus fog lights and racier instruments. Navigation 995) is available for lt2, ltz, and eco. Other options include a 250-watt pioneer audio system with nine speakers 445), a power sunroof 900). The eco and lt1 can be spruced up with a driver convenience package 495) that includes a six-way power driver's seat, rear park assist, and remote start. (all prices are manufacturer's suggested retail prices, which do not include destination charge and may change at any time without notice.)  safety features include front, side-impact and knee-protection airbags for front passengers, rear side-impact airbags and full cabin head-protection curtains with rollover deployment. Gm's onstar telematics are standard, with automatic crash response and other services free for six months. Other standard safety features include stabiltrack electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes (abs), front seatbelt pretensioners, daytime running lights (drls) and the federally mandated tire-pressure monitor. walkaroundthe styling of the chevrolet cruze is handsome and nicely proportioned.  the cruze is large, as compact cars go. Measuring 181. 0 inches bumper-to-bumper, on a wheelbase of 105. 7 inches, the cruze is slightly larger than most of its competitors, including the honda civic, toyota corolla, and the all-new 2012 ford focus.  cruze is more angular than other recent chevrolet sedans, including the popular malibu. Its front end mimics the volt plug-in sedan with a prominent chevrolet bowtie logo. The headlight housings are large, sweeping upward and around the front edges of the car.  the roofline arcs subtly from its steeply raked windshield through fast-sloping rear pillars, creating a generally sporty profile. Its wheels are pushed out to the corners of the car, with minimal overhang. No, this compact sedan doesn't break new ground or wow with its curves. But it's tidy and quite confidant looking, and the package generates a feeling of quality and solidity. Wheels range from 16-inch steel with plastic covers on the base ls to spoked 18-inch alloys with low-profile tires on the loaded ltz.  the cruze eco is a slightly different beast, because it's designed to be chevrolet's conventional-engine fuel economy leader. The differences start with 42 steps intended to trim weight, right down the size and location of welds in the body. As a result, the eco tips the scales at 3,009 pounds, or 214 pounds less than the mid-level cruze lt. Cruze eco adds a host of aerodynamic tweaks, including some adapted from the chevrolet volt. These start with active grille shutters that close at higher speeds, blocking much of the grille surface when the cooling demands of the engine allow it, and smoothing air flow over the front of the car. The eco also sports a lower front air-dam extension, plastic panels that cover large portions of the underbody and a carefully crafted rear spoiler. It's finished with low-rolling-resistance tires on specially designed rims. That means a bit less braking performance or grip through the corners, but it also means less friction when the eco is cruising along for better fuel economy. interiorthe chevrolet cruze is roomy inside, with ample dimensions in most directions. The cabin is finished nicely with quality materials. Sound deadening measures result in quiet operation. Overall, the cruze cabin delivers an excellent balance of quality, coziness and space to breathe.  cruze is near the top of the class for the look, fit and feel of the materials inside. The seams join with tighter tolerances than those in many other cars, including some of those a class or two above. The textiles and plastics are rich, appealing and nicely grained, and the metallic trim looks good. The fabric used for the door inserts matches that used on the seat.

2006 ford mustang review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The all-american pony car. introductionthe ford mustang is an american success story. Forty years after it created an automotive niche all its own, mustang is both true to its roots and better than ever.  the 2006 mustang is available as both a coupe and a convertible, powered by either a v6 or a v8 engine. The v6 deluxe comes well equipped for less than $20,000. The mustang gt boasts a multi-valve, overhead-cam v8 that produces 300 horsepower. Both are available with a manual or automatic transmission. More importantly, both deliver the bold styling, rear-drive performance and affordability that have been mustang hallmarks for decades.    retro inspired, to be sure, the mustang is nonetheless a thoroughly modern car. Launched for 2005 with a clean-sheet design, the mustang is faster and more agile than ever. It's also quieter and better built (even the convertible), and it rides more smoothly. Its interior is a throwback to the original mustang, but it's also functional and well finished. For 2006, a new pony package gives v6 mustangs all the show, if not the go, of the v8. The v8s are available with trendy new 18-inch wheels for 2006.  a family car, the mustang isn't. Interior space is limited for a car of its exterior dimensions, and the back seat might better be described as a package shelf. Yet the 2006 mustang holds true to an idea that still appeals to people of all ages decades after it was launched.  the ford mustang has been an icon of american performance since its introduction in 1964. It created the pony car genre, and after 40-plus years of competition with the barracuda, camaro, firebird and others, it's the only one left. We, and a few hundred thousands others, are glad it's still here. lineupthe 2006 ford mustang lineup probably seems more complicated than it really is. Mustang is available as either a fastback coupe or convertible, each with either a v6 or v8 engine. The v6 models focus on value, while the v8 gts focus on performance. All come standard with a five-speed manual transmission, but all are available with a five-speed automatic.  the rest of the difference comes down to trim. The v6 standard coupe 19,115) comes well equipped, with one-touch power windows, power mirrors and door locks, keyless entry, air conditioning, am/fm/cd, tilt steering, speed control, rear window defroster, 16-inch wheels, and a split-folding rear seat. Its 4. 0-liter overhead-cam v6 generates 210 horsepower.    the v6 deluxe coupe 19,215) adds 16-inch machined-face aluminum wheels. The package includes a firmer suspension, a custom grille with fog lamps, pony emblems and 17-inch wheels.  in addition to its 4. 6-liter, 300-horsepower v8, the mustang gt deluxe coupe 25,140) adds in-grille fog lamps, complex reflector halogen headlamps with integral turn signals, a rear spoiler, and performance tires on 17-inch wheels. The gt premium coupe 26,320) comes with the 500-watt cd changer and aberdeen leather-trimmed sport bucket seats.  the gt deluxe convertible 29,965) and gt premium convertible 31,145) have the power-operated soft top.  mustang options include the five-speed automatic transmission 995), an active anti-theft system 255), a 1000-watt audio system 1,295), an interior upgrade package with satin aluminum trim 450). The gts are available with 18-inch wheels 195).  safety features on all mustangs include dual-stage front impact airbags and three-point belts for all seats. Antilock brakes and traction control are standard on the gts and optional on the v6 models 775). Front passenger side-impact airbags 370) are optional on all models, so be sure to order them as they are designed to offer torso protection in a side impact. walkaroundthe 2006 ford mustang follows the trend by offering ever larger wheels. The gt is now available with two distinct 18-inch wheel designs, as well as two new exterior colors: vista blue clearcoat metallic and tungsten grey clearcoat metallic. So trimmed, the mustang looks more aggressively handsome than ever, and nearly identical to the concept cars that grabbed everyone's attention at the 2004 north american international auto show.  nothing says modern american sporty car better than this mustang. Its long hood and short rear deck capitalize on 40 years of mustang history. The current mustang features classic design cues that have defined mustangs since the 1960s: c-scoops in the sides, three-element tail lamps and a galloping horse badge in the center of the grille. Its menacing shark-like nose is reminiscent of the 1967 model. Everything under the car has been upgraded substantially from previous mustang levels: bigger brakes by nearly 20 percent, completely new front and rear suspension designs that yield much quieter, smoother ride as well as much more precise steering during hard cornering, improved engines and new transmissions. Optional antilock brakes bundled with traction control give any driver much more of a fighting chance in bad situations by allowing the driver to brake and steer at the same time.  the engines are mounted to the body with hydraulic engine mounts, which absorb and counteract vibration and pulsing. By adapting ideas and components from luxury cars, ford has given the current mustang a level of sophistication its predecessors never had. Yet the mustang heritage of low-cost performance and flashy styling has not been compromised one iota. We know, because we've driven every generation since the original debuted in the spring of 1964.  perhaps most retro of all mustang features is a new-for-2006 pony package for v6 models. This includes a grille with gt-style round fog lamps and a chrome bezel, or corral, around the traditional mustang prancing horse. The package includes 17-inch wheels, front-fender pony badges, a lower door stripe, and a rear spoiler. interiorthe styling themes that so readily identify the 2006 mustang are apparent inside, too. The interior is as blatantly throwback as the exterior, and nearly as well done. It's sporty and crisp in appearance and straightforward in function.  there's a very heavy dose of 1967 mustang inside, with two distinct right and left pods, blended with modern touches. Chrome-ringed air vents align across the dash, precisely in line with the gauges, and the steering wheel has three spokes with a center hub marked by the horse and tricolor bars logo. While some of the materials have a cost-saving look and feel, the package is not bad given the high style and price of entry. An interior upgrade package, with satin or dark-finish aluminum inserts, goes a long way toward eliminating traces of cheapness. Speaking of brightening, however, there's enough shiny metal on this car's dash and steering wheel to create some glare problems for drivers on sunny days. Just like the old days.  these are the good old days in terms of roominess in the mustang. Thanks to a longer wheelbase and larger overall size, there is a lot more hip, leg, elbow and shoulder room inside this mustang that in any previous generation. We found the front bucket seats to be comfortable, supportive and retentive in hard corners. The 2+2 back seat, however, isn't much more accommodating than before, and it's not a place adults will want to spend any time.  the trunk, however, is as large as those in some more overtly practical sedans, and the folding rear seat expands cargo space even further.  the basic sound system that comes with the car is pretty darn good. The 500-watt upgrade is reasonably priced in the premium package, and adds a six-cd changer. The 1000-watt upgrade will impress most audiophiles, but the extra subwoofers in the trunk steal a good chunk of cargo space. We'd be inclined to pass on those. driving impressionthe 2006 mustang improves those things that have appealed to so many different kinds of drivers for more than 40 years, and it nearly eliminates some traditionally bad pony car traits. In general, the good has gotten better and the bad, less so.  the previous-generation mustang, a modified, welded version of a chassis that dated to 1979, was about as stiff as wet rope. Ford claims the current mustang's body/frame is 31 percent stiffer, and we won't argue. This mustang is simply much more rigid and rattle-free than its predecessor. A rigid foundation provides the basis for a host of good things, including improved ride quality, sharper handling and less interior vibration.  the new-found solidity even applies to the convertible. It's a fact: cars that cost five times as much as the mustang tend t. Power Windows✔ Anti-lock Brakes✔ Power Mirrors✔ Bucket Seats✔ AM/FM✔ Leather Seats✔ Air Conditioning✔ CD Changer✔ Aluminum Wheels

2013 hyundai veloster review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Three-door coupe adds sporty turbo option. introductionthe hyundai veloster is a sporty, three-door compact car with unique looks, fun driving dynamics and good fuel economy. It launched as a 2012 model with a naturally aspirated 1. 6-liter engine that makes 138 horsepower and an admirable epa rating of 40 mpg highway with the standard 6-speed manual transmission. The engine uses all the right high-tech stuff to get these numbers, such as gasoline direct injection (gdi), and dual continuously variable valve timing (d-cvvt).  for 2013, the veloster turbo joins the lineup. A traditional 6-speed automatic with shiftronic is optional. The naturally aspirated veloster, meanwhile, uses a dual-clutch automatic.  the turbo's increased performance predictably takes a toll on gas mileage, but still achieves a respectable 26 mpg city and 38 mpg highway epa rating with the manual and 25/34 mpg with the automatic.  the veloster turbo distinguishes itself from the naturally aspirated model with a huge front grille, a body kit, different front and rear bumpers, a rear spoiler and upgraded standard features such as leather upholstery, heated front seats and pushbutton start. All turbos ride on larger, 18-inch wheels.  perhaps most interestingly, the veloster turbo is available in a matte gray paint color, which costs an extra $1,000 and, like other cars with flat paint colors, must be taken care of meticulously by hand. The paint is so fussy that customers must sign a release form that states they won't take it through an automated carwash. Those who pop for the high-maintenance paint will receive a car-care kit with cleaning products they can use at home.  the veloster's styling gets a lot of looks on the highway, although we think it looks a tad overdone. As a three-door coupe, it totally pulls off the two-door roofline. The third door is on the passenger side, hinged at the front like a real door. With other three-door compacts, the third door can be awkwardly hinged; not so with the veloster. It's easy to climb in and out of the back seat, and total interior volume is best in the sporty compact class, blowing the mini cooper clubman out of the water.  much of the hyundai veloster was designed and developed in the u. S., most notably the rear suspension that gives veloster an excellent all-around ride that's dialed-in but still comfortable. Steering is solid, secure, and gives great feedback; cornering is stable.  interior details include nice console support at the right thigh, good feel with the three-spoke leather steering wheel, pleasing uncluttered gauges, and digital information that's easily accessed. Standard equipment includes cloth upholstery, six-way adjustable driver's seat, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, power accessories, manually operated air conditioning, a six-speaker audio system with 7-inch touch screen, cd player, satellite radio capability, ipod/bsb port and auxiliary audio/video jacks; bluetooth handsfree phone system with voice recognition, 60/40 split folding rear seats and 17-inch alloy wheels.  the style package 2,000) upgrades to leatherette upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, eight-speaker audio, alloy pedals, power sunroof, chrome grille trim, foglights and bumps wheel size up to 18 inches. The tech package 2,000) adds pushbutton start, 115-volt outlet, navigation with rearview camera, rear backup sensors, automatic headlights, unique 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlamps, push-button start, and 115v outlet.  veloster turbo is available with either the 6-speed manual 21,950) or 6-speed manual transmission with shiftronic 22,950). Standard features include the comfort and convenience features found in the standard veloster plus leather upholstery, driver's power lumbar support, heated front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, alloy pedals, 8-speaker audio system with external amp and subwoofer, pushbutton start, unique interior trim, a unique front grille, front fog lights, led accents on headlights, led rear taillights, side mirrors with integrated turn signals, a sport tuned suspension ground effects bodykit and 18-inch alloy wheels. The veloster turbo ultimate package 2,500) adds navigation, 115-volt power outlet, rearview camera, power sunroof, backup sensors and automatic headlights. Special color body color options include elite white 200) and a special matte gray 1,000), which includes an in-home car-care kit.  safety equipment on all models includes six airbags (frontal, front side impact, curtains), stability control with traction control, abs, tire pressure monitor. walkaroundvisually, the veloster sets itself apart from other hyundai models with a bolder, busier design. Unlike the cleaner lines of hyundai's sedans, the veloster's muscular shape is riddled with lumps, scoops and scallops.  but take a couple of steps back, and the veloster doesn't look so bad. The nose is low, and from a three-quarter rear view, it looks tough on its haunches. The standard veloster's mouth is as wide as an audi's, but it's filled in with body-colored plastic, shaped to resemble wings, but maybe looks more like superman's shoulders while flying, with a chrome cape and silver h for a face.  the veloster turbo gets an even bigger, all-black mouth that looks to be all air intake, different fog lights, led accents around the headlights and side mirrors with integrated turn signals. In back, the turbo sports a rear spoiler, led tail lights and large dual exhaust tips. All turbos ride on 18-inch wheels. Inside, pushbutton start, leather upholstery and heated seats come standard, as well as an upgraded audio system.  a new matte gray color for the veloster turbo is a gamble for hyundai. The special clear coat that gives the matte appearance must be taken care of meticulously. Customers must also sign a release form that acknowledges that the paint must be taken care of in a particular way. Hyundai execs admit they can't vouch for long-term longevity and say second owners could prove to be a challenge. This isn't unique to hyundai, however, as other cars, including expensive luxury cars, with flat paint colors face the same challenges. They look really neat when in good condition, though.  as a three-door coupe, the veloster totally pulls off the two-door roofline. On the passenger side, the third door is hidden save the seam. Rakish upsweep meets a racy roofline, invisible door handle in the window corner. Thankfully, the window trim is black.  the single center exhaust on the standard veloster is like siamese twin trapezoids, outlined by chrome, while the veloster turbo gets dual, side-by-side exhaust tips in the same spot. Both versions are boxed in by a big black plastic fascia that makes the rear end look almost frog-like. They say the a-pillars are like a helmet visor, the center stack resembles a fuel tank, the console mirrors a motorcycle seat, and air vents are inspired by tailpipes. Mostly we noticed overkill on the trapezoidal trim pieces.  on the standard veloster, we noticed terrific fit and materials of the style package seats, nice console support at the right thigh, good feel of the three-spoke leather steering wheel, pleasing uncluttered gauges, and digital information accessed easily. Features include bluetooth, pandora internet radio via iphone, and gracenote music connectivity. A 196-watt six-speaker audio system is standard, while the 450-watt eight-speaker system comes with the style package.  the veloster turbo adds extra touches including aluminum pedals, pushbutton start and heated front seats. Leather upholstery is standard, but it felt more plastic than plush, and we noticed that stitching around the driver's seat had already begun to buckle in some places.  rear visibility has a couple of problems. There's a big blind spot at the c-pillar over the driver's shoulder, which is typical for cars with this type of roofline. And the structural support in the fastback glass liftgate blocks rearview visibility, but overall it's still better than some hatches on the market such as the toyota prius and honda cr-z.  the backseat is easy to get into, thanks to the veloster's front-hinged third door. 2010 buick lucerne review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Big, comfortable, luxurious and a good value. introductionthe buick lucerne is a highly competent sedan with smooth, clean lines and driving manners to match. Underway, it's smooth and quiet, with precise steering and a chassis that handles winding roads with grace and security. Inside, it's elegant, comfortable and easy to operate. It's a very luxurious car, and at a price that represents a commendable value.  the buick lucerne is a full-size, premium sedan with front-wheel drive and a standard v6 engine. The lucerne cx is a traditional buick, with the premium ride suspension maximized for cushioned comfort. The lucerne cxl comes with a firmer (but certainly not at all harsh) ride and handling suspension, and is positioned to compete with the toyota avalon and lexus es 350. We found it a very enjoyable car to drive, with agile handling and plenty of performance. The cxl special edition adds numerous trim and convenience features. The super is the top of the lucerne line and includes a v8 engine and magnetic ride control, a sophisticated adaptive suspension with responsive handling.  advanced safety systems are available on all models. Lane departure warning uses a camera to warn drivers of inadvertent lane changes. Stabilitrak, which includes the function of traction control, and brake assist are offered as well.  for 2010, the changes are relatively minor. The super receives a new optional 18-inch chrome wheel, the entire line-up gets the rocker panels and fog lamps from the super model, bluetooth is available on the base model, the instrument panel gauges are backlit, and there are some revised interior treatments and new exterior colors.  buick has a long history of innovative engineering, handsomely conservative styling, and premium luxury at below-premium prices. Standard equipment includes cloth upholstery, air conditioning, seats for five people with a power driver's seat, power windows, power door locks, leather-wrapped tilt steering wheel, am/fm/cd/mp3 audio with six speakers and steering wheel audio controls, xm satellite radio, cruise control, electrochromic rearview mirror, remote keyless entry, cornering lamps, heated outside rearview mirrors, an extended-range key fob, and 17-inch bright-silver-painted aluminum wheels. Package 2cx 1,700) adds stabilitrak, brake assist, rear parking assist, remote starter, a theft-deterrent system, dual-zone automatic climate control, a universal home remote, a cargo net and bluetooth to the cx.  lucerne cxl 32,730) upgrades with leather seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, universal home remote, a cargo net, eight-way power heated front seats with power lumbar support, memory settings, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, and turn signals integrated in the outside mirrors. The cxl suspension is tuned a little tighter, too, and includes airlift control in the rear for automatic level control. The driver's confidence package adds stabilitrak, brake assist, rear parking assist, remote starter, and a theft-deterrent system to the cxl 945).  option packages for cxl: the 3xl 2,100) includes side blind-zone alert, driver's confidence package, dual heated mirrors with turn signals and left-hand day/night feature, lane departure warning and chrome alloy wheels. The 4xl 3,000) includes driver's confidence package, harman/kardon speakers, heated and cooled front seats, leather, heated steering wheel and chrome alloy wheels. The 5xl 3,500) includes the features of the 3xl and 4xl packages combined.  lucerne super 39,230) is powered by a 292-hp 4. 6-liter v8 and equipped with magnasteer power steering, magnetic ride control adaptive suspension, stabilitrak stability control, brake assist, and p245/50r18 all-season radials on 18-inch aluminum wheels. Inside, the super features a leather-wrapped upper instrument panel with french-seam stitching, heated leather seats with suede fabric inserts, harman/kardon audio, heated and wood-accented steering wheel on a power tilt-and-telescope steering column, wood shift knob, and other upgraded finishes and trims. Stabilitrak, brake assist, rear parking assist, remote starter, a theft-deterrent system, dual-zone automatic climate control, a universal home remote, a cargo net, and bluetooth are standard. Outside, the super sports its own unique grille, front and rear fascias, extended rocker panels, and integrated dual exhaust tips. Chrome wheels are optional 750).  options include side blind-zone alert 395), lane departure warning 295), a power tilt-and-slide sunroof 950), and an engine block heater 75). A sound system with dvd-based navigation 1,945) is optional on the super, cxl, and cxl special edition; the harman/kardon speakers 495) and a six-cd changer 300) are available on the cxl and cxl special edition. Six-passenger seating is available on the cx and cxl by ordering front bench seats 295).  safety features on all models include six airbags: a dual-stage driver's front airbag and a dual-depth front-passenger airbag, front-seat side-impact airbags, and full-coverage side-curtain airbags. The front seatbelts come with pretensioners to enhance the effectiveness of the airbags. Traction control, anti-lock brakes, and a tire pressure monitor are standard on all models. The lucerne has a handsome appearance with a good stance thanks to its long wheelbase and wide track. The classic, buick waterfall grille blends in well with the large integrated headlamps. The side profile, with its steeply raked windshield, is reminiscent of several recently introduced european sedans such as the vw passat and audi a6. The rear of the lucerne features a high trunk line with nicely integrated tail lamps.  chrome trim is kept to a minimum. In addition to the grille, the only stylistic link to buicks of old is the row of small portholes on each of the front fenders. Flashback to the fifties, when more-powerful buicks had more holes. The grille bars turn sharply inward at the top, giving more definition to the waterfall effect. Below the grille, the look is more familiar, with twin lower air intakes accentuated by chrome slashes that seem to point to the outboard foglights.  the smaller main grille of the cx and cxl is finer in texture and is chrome. The twin lower air intakes on these models hide behind horizontal grillwork cut into the lower bumper.  the buick lucerne is built on the same platform as the cadillac dts and benefits from modern build techniques for a quiet luxury car. These include hydroformed frame rails for a stiffer body and the use of laminated steel with plenty of sound-deadening material placed in strategic locations. The individual front seats provide a good level of comfort and come with an armrest in the center console.  rear-seat passengers are well taken care of with good headroom and excellent leg room. The lucerne's long wheelbase allows for a wide-opening rear door with almost no intrusion from the wheel well, making it easy to get in and out of the car. Onstar with turn-by-turn service is standard and allows customers to talk to a live advisor who downloads complete step-by-step directions to the vehicle through the onstar system. Audio directions are then automatically played through the vehicle's stereo as they are needed, triggered by the onstar system's gps capabilities. Drivers can be directed to their destinations without having to take their hands from the wheel or eyes from the road. New onstar enav allows a subscriber to find and save destinations on mapquest. Com, and have those destinations sent to the vehicle's onstar system.  a touch-screen navigation system is also available, giving the lucerne driver the best of both worlds. New onstar destination download enables onstar subscribers with screen-based navigation to quickly input their destinations via the press of a button; while new xm navtraffic (available in 80 major north american markets) delivers real-time information about accidents, traffic backups, and road construction directly to the navigation screen. With or without navigation, all lucernes come w.

2008 chrysler 300 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Bold, handsome, roomy and satisfying. introductionsmooth, quiet operation, tight handling, space, luxury: the chrysler 300 sedan has it all, at attractive prices. Yet what the 300 has more than anything is bold, appealing styling.  the chrysler 300 nameplate includes a wide range of engines and amenities, from a frugal v6 to the powerful srt8. The base model comes well-equipped for less than $25,000 msrp. Aimed primarily at the chauffeur-driven executive class, the long-wheelbase version offer a cavernous back seat, th more leg room than just about anything on the road. It's great for tall folks or anyone who likes space and convenience and can be equipped with custom features such as writing tables and foot rests.  the chrysler 300 is rear-wheel drive, and we consider that a benefit. Rear-wheel drive adds to the pleasure and excitement of driving this big sedan, and that's partly why luxury sedans and sports cars continue to use it. The 300's traction and stability electronics are well sorted and effective, delivering good all-season performance, and all-wheel drive is an option for those who live in the snow belt. They're also responsive for large cars. Inside and out, this car makes no apologies. It won't be mistaken for any other sedan the road. It can be trimmed with chrome, mono-chrome and various wheels to look stately and elegant or downright mean.  the chrysler 300 delivers impressive value, but emphasizing the cost/benefit ratio may minimize its other strengths. The 300s are good, appealing cars, and they've set the benchmark for detroit's car builders.  for 2008, chrysler added several features and tweaked the interior and exterior design. New features include adaptive cruise control, sirius backseat tv and chrysler's mygig, a 20-gigabyte hard drive that holds songs, pictures, and navigation system map information. Chrysler's uconnect hands-free cell-phone link has been upgraded with an integrated ipod interface. The interior has a new instrument panel and center console, and the arm rests, center console and door trim benefit from soft-touch surfaces. Outside, the front and rear fascia, grille, decklid, and side moldings are updated. It has a five-speed automatic transmission with chrysler's autostick manual-shift feature. The limited awd 33,815) is identically equipped.  the 300c 35,395) features a 5. 7-liter overhead-valve v8 (hemi), delivering 340 horsepower and a substantial 390 pound-feet of torque. It also has a power tilt/telescoping steering column, leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob, remote starting, and rain-sensing wipers. The 300c awd 37,495) is equipped the same. An srt design group option 1,495) for the 300c adds many of the srt design cues, 20-inch wheels, and more significantly, engine tweaks and special exhaust that raise the output to 350 horsepower.  the srt8 41,385) features a 425-hp, 6. 1-liter hemi v8 with loads of performance tweaks, 20-inch wheels, and unique design features.  options are plentiful with many available packages that require research. One of the most popular is protection group ii 890), which adds curtain-style head-protection airbags, torso-protecting front side airbags, rear park assist, self-sealing tires and cabin air filtration. Stand alone options include rear-seat dvd entertainment with a seven-inch lcd screen, a sunroof 950), uconnect hands-free communication with ipod interface 250), and a boston acoustics audio upgrade with six-cd changer, subwoofer and 368 watts of output. Also available for 2008 are sirius backseat tv, with three channels of children's programming, and chrysler's mygig. Mygig comes in two versions: the mygig entertainment system, which has a 6. 5-inch touchscreen and a 20-gigabyte hard drive to hold songs and pictures, and the mygig multimedia infotainment system, which adds a navigation system with voice control and real-time traffic information.  safety features include multi-stage front airbags. Curtain-style head protection airbags for outboard passengers and torso-protecting front side-impact airbags are optional. An electronic stability program (esp), traction control system (tcs) and anti-lock brakes (abs) with brake assist are standard on all but the lx model, where they are optional. Other safety-related options include rear obstacle detection, high-intensity discharge headlamps, a tire-pressure monitor, and all-wheel drive. The chrysler 300 has earned a five-star rating from the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa) for front-impact crash protection.  the w. A handful of detractors claim the 300's styling, particularly its bentley-esque front end, is derivative, but we think that's a superficial view. But it has also redefined what a detroit sedan can be, more clearly and thoroughly than any automobile in recent years.  with its rear-wheel-drive architecture, the chrysler 300 might be a case of back to the future. Yet there's little about it that's retro, except maybe the giant grille, which clearly draws on 300s from the past. The first chrysler 300 was introduced in 1955. It was called the c300 and its engine had hemispherical combustion chambers earning the hemi nickname. Its styling makes no apologies. The wheelwell cutouts, wrapping around rims up to 20 inches in diameter, are striking. The wheelbase is long but the overhangs are short, offering a visual sense of power. The roof rakes thickly down to a short deck, and the sides are like large slabs.  for 2008, the decklid was redesigned to include an integrated spoiler-like kickup, as well as the center, high-mounted stop light, which moves down from the rear package area. These cast a useful halo of light on the ground beneath the doors when the 300 is unlocked with the remote key fob. Its unique features include body-color front and rear bumper inserts, mirrors and door handles. The modifications are more than aesthetic: the front and rear ends direct air flow through unique ducts that cool the brakes, while a specially designed rear spoiler increases rear downforce by 39 percent, helping keep the rear tires firmly planted at high speed without increasing drag. Yet the coolest thing about the srt8 might be its 20-inch forged aluminum wheels and asymmetrical high-performance tires. These maximize that visual power, and they're staggered in the classic track-performance tradition, with the rear tires slightly wider than the fronts.  the executive series package, or long-wheelbase version, adds six inches to the standard wheelbase, all behind the front doors, and provides more than 46 inches of rear legroom inside. That's more rear-seat leg room than executive-class stalwarts such as the audi a8l, bmw 750li and jaguar xj-.
